Day 2 - London – Sightseeing and included Imperial War Museum Visit
See Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace on your half day introductory sightseeing tour with a Local Specialist. This afternoon travel to the Imperial War Museum which tells the stories of those whose lives were shaped by war from the First World War to the present day. Day 3 - London – Portsmouth Historic Dockyard – Overnight Ferry to Caen
Today leave the bustle of London and head south to Portsmouth. Stop at the fascinating Historic Dockyard and visit HMS Monitor M33, the Royal Navy's sole surviving warship from the 1915 Gallipoli Campaign and the only warship from World War I open to the public of the three that remain intact today. Learn about the ships' fascinating history from its 69 years in service, including the Dardanelles Campaign of 1915-16, the Russian Civil War and its work as a mine-laying training ship in Portsmouth. Enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure to explore this fascinating area which highlights the Royal Navy's past before dining at a local restaurant this evening. Day 4 - Overnight Ferry – D-Day Normandy Beaches – Bayeux
Disembark from the ferry this morning after an early breakfast. Travel to the historic D-Day Normandy landing beaches and learn about British, Commonwealth and American involvement. The beaches and memorials are a moving testament to the Allied Soldiers of WWII. Later stop in Bayeux and see the famous Bayeux Tapestry.Buffet Breakfast
Day 5 - Bayeux – Visit Memorial de Caen – Amiens
This morning visit the Memorial de Caen. Learn about the significance of Normandy and receive a souvenir D-Day Landing beach booklet. Travel to Amiens and visit the cathedral that was built between 1220 and 1270 and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. During the First World War this town was liberated by British, Canadian and Australian forces which ultimately led to the armistice of 11 November 1918.Buffet Breakfast, Dinner with wine
Day 6 - Amiens – Somme Battlefields – Paris (2 Nights)
After an early start visit some of the Somme Battlefields. Stop at Thiepval to see the poignant memorial which honours the 72,191 missing British and South African men who died with no graves. This morning your Local Specialist reveals not just where, but how real Parisians live and shop, showing you the enchanting hidden squares and secret passages of one of Paris' oldest historical neighbourhoods. Ascend to the second level of the Eiffel Tower and see the city in all its glory. Spend the rest of the day seeing the sights of your choice. Day 8 - Paris – Vimy Ridge – La Coupole – Lille (2 Nights)
Visit the memorial at Vimy Ridge dedicated to the Canadian soldiers who died during the First World War. An included visit to La Coupole World War II Museum will give a Cultural Insight into why this old German Bunker could have changed the outcome of the war as well as the course of European history. Day 9 - Lille – Excursion to Ypres Battlefields – Passchendaele – Menin Gate
Visit the Ypres Salient and see sites such as Tyne Cot, Langemark and Vancouver Corner. Stop in Passchendaele where you have an included visit to The Memorial Museum Passchendaele 1917, here you can see a replica trench. See Essex Farm Cemetery where Lt. Col. John McCrea wrote the immortal poem - 'In Flanders Fields'. Have free time for an early dinner before making your way to the Menin Gate to witness The Last Post Ceremony at 8.00pm. Day 10 - Lille – National Liberation Museum – Groesbeek Memorial – Amsterdam (2 Nights)
This morning travel across Belgium into The Netherlands and visit the National Liberation Museum 1944-1945. You will have time to visit the permanent and temporary exhibitions before coffee or tea with a special 'liberation cake'. Stop at Groesbeek Canadian War Cemetery and Memorial. The cemetery contains the remains of over 2,000 Canadian soldiers who lost their lives in World War II. Later visit Arnhem. In World War II during Operation Market Garden (September 1944), the British 1st Airborne Division and the Polish 1st Independent Parachute Brigade were given the task of securing the bridge at Arnhem. The events that took place were dramatised in the 1977 movie 'A Bridge Too Far'. Finally arrive in Amsterdam for a two-night stay.Buffet Breakfast

Start your day with an orientation featuring the Mint Tower, Dam Square and Museum Square. Later visit the town of Volendam for a Cultural Insight. Our travel guide was absolutely wonderful and fits the position perfectly. Always courteous and very knowledgable. She took excellent care of us and was very organized.
The trip was about nature and history. It lacked any mention of art - at the least, architecture and sculpture. It would benefit if those topics were included.
The tour was spectacular. The Cooper Canyon was awesome and unbelievable. Our tour guide was well-experienced and knowledgeable. Our accommodations were the best. The local foods that we ate were very delicious.
Trafalgar is an excellent choice for traveling. I already did 2 European tours with them in 6 months and booked my third tour. They are professional and efficient. Traveling with Trafalgar saves time and money. The local experiences they provide make all the difference.

Everything that was stated came true but it was even better then what I expected.
We loved this trip. We love using Trafalgar because the tour directors are great, the itinerary is well planned out, and they have experiences that are unique, like taking a ride on a horse-drawn wagon (the horse had jingle bells on) through a small town and stopping for pictures on a beautiful little bridge, and then the owner of the horses taking us to his home and providing us with a homemade lunch.
Everything was great in my trip to New Zealand's southern island, the scenery was certainly stunning! I had a good time, all the fellow travelers in the tour was very nice and friendly, and I have found some new friends there! New Zealand is a new country where air is very clean and people are honest and trustworthy welcoming tourists as well as foreigners with open arms. Next time I'd like to go back and see the Northern island of the country.
It's a trip worth taking, but not at all up to the descriptions provided by most travelers. So don't think your socks are going to get knocked off by the scenery seen from the train or the dizzying bridge heights. Maybe I'm jaded because I live in Wash. State and I've taken the Empire Builder (Amtrak) & the Rocky Mountaineer (Canada Rail). So, this trip had some "nice" scenery, and it was interesting to do some real switchbacks, but as for the train portion overall: "meh". Hard to get good camera shots if not on right side of train or unless you camped out (to the detriment of others) on the right side of the in-between sections of the train cars. The train condition was good, the restrooms were clean, and the food was OK. The accommodations on the trip were nice to very-nice, as was the food. You have to realize this is Mexico however -- if you're expecting USA quality throughout then you're going to be one of the complainers the rest of us have to put up with. The hotel on the rim of the canyon was especially nice, with incredible views. The tram ride (into the canyon) was also very scenic. Between the two, it made the trip very worthwhile. The Casas Grandes (Paquime) stop was also very interesting if you like archaeological stuff. Those two things (the canyon stay) & Paquime were kinda the only two things worth seeing on the trip. Not that the rest of it wasn't worth seeing at all -- it was. But those were really the only two stops of significance in my opinion. I'm glad I crossed this trip off my list, but I would not do it again nor recommend it except with the above caveats. This was my first trip with Trafalgar (I've done many other bus tours with other companies). I would recommend them, putting them on the same level as Globus.
Truly professional Tour Director and drivers made the tour memorable. Trafalgar always arrange first class hotel rooms.
The Trafalgar tour guide wasn\'t good as those we had in the past. The itinerary was a bit rushed, covering too great a distance in a short time.
I thought both Affordable Tours and Trafalgar did a great job. Would definitely travel with Trafalgar again and would definitely use Affordable Tours again.
