Day 2 - Athens – Epidaurus – Nafplion (2 Nights)
This morning enjoy a leisurely drive to the northeast Peloponnese. View the impressive Corinth Canal which connects the Gulf of Corinth with the Saronic Gulf in the Aegean Sea before your visit to the ancient Theatre of Epidaurus and the Sanctuary of Asclepius, God of Medicine. Epidaurus is a marvel of engineering and is famous for its outstanding acoustics which are considered some of the best of any open air theatre. You will have free time to explore or enjoy a meal near the harbour in the beautiful seaport town of Nafplion.Buffet Breakfast
Day 3 - Nafplion – Excursion to Mycenae
Enjoy a visit to Mycenae, the most important palatial centre of the late Bronze Age in Greece. Here you will walk through the Lion Gate and remains of Agamemnon's Royal Palace, as well as see his tomb. Gain a Cultural Insight into wine production in the Nemea region and sample some of the highly regarded local produce. Return to your hotel in Nafplion and perhaps enjoy a stroll in town or taste some local Greek ice cream.Buffet Breakfast
Day 4 - Nafplion – Olympia
Cross the Peloponnese and head west towards the famous village of Olympia. Visit the archaeological site and museum home of the original Olympic Games in antiquity. Day 5 - Olympia – Amphilochia – Preveza – Nikopolis – Igoumenitsa – Corfu (2 Nights)
See the the quaint town of Amphilochia and the local city of Preveza before arriving to Nikopolis to see where the Battle of Actium took place. Cross by ferry to the island of Corfu. Enjoy free time to stroll in Corfu city with its splendid architecture, cobbled alleys, arcades, and stop in the Spianada (Esplanade), one of the largest and most impressive squares in Greece.Buffet Breakfast
Day 6 - Corfu Sightseeing
Enjoy an island orientation of Corfu. Visit the Venetian Castle and the monastery of Palaiokastritsa. Later visit the Achilleion Palace with its beautiful views and bougainvillea, built by Elizabeth "Sissi" Empress of Austria and Hungary. This was once the summer residency of the royal family of Greece and overlooks the famous island of Pontikonisi and the beautiful clear waters of the bay.Buffet Breakfast
Day 7 - Corfu – Ioannina
Say goodbye to Corfu and sail back to the mainland to arrive later in the lively city of Ioannina. Enjoy free time to walk around the Old Town or alongside Pamvotis Lake.Buffet Breakfast

Day 8 - Ioannina – Metsovo – Meteora – Portaria (Mount Pelion)
Stop in the mountainous picturesque town of Metsovo, famous for Metsovone cheese and local wine. Continue on to Kalambaka, home to the famous byzantine Monasteries of Meteora perched on top of the impossibly tall rocks. The striking, unique geology of the region led to UNESCO declaring it a World Heritage Site. Continue south east towards Mount Pelion, known for its unexpected natural beauty and lush vegetation scarcely found elsewhere on the Greek mainland.Buffet Breakfast
Day 9 - Portaria – Thermopylae – Delphi – Galaxidi
Today you will enjoy spectacular scenery as you travel through the countryside over the famous mountain ranges of Parnassos and Giona. Stop briefly in Thermopylae, famous for the heroic defence by Leonidas and his 300 brave Spartans against the invading Persians. Enjoy a guided visit in Delphi with a Local Specialist. Visit the most important oracle in the classical world. Walk the Sacred Way to the Temple of Apollo dating from the 4th century. It was here that athletes competed in the Pythian Games, a precursor of the modern Olympics. Day 10 - Galaxidi – Athens
On arrival in Athens, visit the Acropolis and view the Parthenon, dedicated to the goddess Athena, and one of the world's greatest cultural monuments. See Hadrian's Arch which was built to celebrate the arrival of the Roman Emperor Hadrian. View the stadium where the first modern Olympics took place in 1896. The trip was about nature and history. It lacked any mention of art - at the least, architecture and sculpture. It would benefit if those topics were included.
The tour was spectacular. The Cooper Canyon was awesome and unbelievable. Our tour guide was well-experienced and knowledgeable. Our accommodations were the best. The local foods that we ate were very delicious.
Trafalgar is an excellent choice for traveling. I already did 2 European tours with them in 6 months and booked my third tour. They are professional and efficient. Traveling with Trafalgar saves time and money. The local experiences they provide make all the difference.

Our travel consultant did an excellent job booking our trip. The flight, airport transfer, and the tour itself was far beyond our expectations.
Everything that was stated came true but it was even better then what I expected.
We loved this trip. We love using Trafalgar because the tour directors are great, the itinerary is well planned out, and they have experiences that are unique, like taking a ride on a horse-drawn wagon (the horse had jingle bells on) through a small town and stopping for pictures on a beautiful little bridge, and then the owner of the horses taking us to his home and providing us with a homemade lunch.
Everything was great in my trip to New Zealand's southern island, the scenery was certainly stunning! I had a good time, all the fellow travelers in the tour was very nice and friendly, and I have found some new friends there! New Zealand is a new country where air is very clean and people are honest and trustworthy welcoming tourists as well as foreigners with open arms. Next time I'd like to go back and see the Northern island of the country.
It's a trip worth taking, but not at all up to the descriptions provided by most travelers. So don't think your socks are going to get knocked off by the scenery seen from the train or the dizzying bridge heights. Maybe I'm jaded because I live in Wash. State and I've taken the Empire Builder (Amtrak) & the Rocky Mountaineer (Canada Rail). So, this trip had some "nice" scenery, and it was interesting to do some real switchbacks, but as for the train portion overall: "meh". Hard to get good camera shots if not on right side of train or unless you camped out (to the detriment of others) on the right side of the in-between sections of the train cars. The train condition was good, the restrooms were clean, and the food was OK. The accommodations on the trip were nice to very-nice, as was the food. You have to realize this is Mexico however -- if you're expecting USA quality throughout then you're going to be one of the complainers the rest of us have to put up with. The hotel on the rim of the canyon was especially nice, with incredible views. The tram ride (into the canyon) was also very scenic. Between the two, it made the trip very worthwhile. The Casas Grandes (Paquime) stop was also very interesting if you like archaeological stuff. Those two things (the canyon stay) & Paquime were kinda the only two things worth seeing on the trip. Not that the rest of it wasn't worth seeing at all -- it was. But those were really the only two stops of significance in my opinion. I'm glad I crossed this trip off my list, but I would not do it again nor recommend it except with the above caveats. This was my first trip with Trafalgar (I've done many other bus tours with other companies). I would recommend them, putting them on the same level as Globus.
Truly professional Tour Director and drivers made the tour memorable. Trafalgar always arrange first class hotel rooms.
The Trafalgar tour guide wasn\'t good as those we had in the past. The itinerary was a bit rushed, covering too great a distance in a short time.
I thought both Affordable Tours and Trafalgar did a great job. Would definitely travel with Trafalgar again and would definitely use Affordable Tours again.

Just got back home from my 2016 Splendors of Italy vacations (10/22-11/03). The Travel Director was absolutely amazing, as well as our driver. They did everything to make our vacation an unforgettable experience. All local guides were excellent and very attentive. They took care of every detail so we just had to enjoy every second in Italy.
