Itinerary

Tour Itinerary

Chill out on Maui’s beaches, Learn the meaning of hookipa (hospitality) at a luau, Heat things up at Volcanoes National Park, Explore Puʻuhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park

Ready to take a step beyond the typical relaxing vacation? Well, Hawaii's here for you. Enjoy the best of the islands without the hectic resort crowds. On Maui, spend time discovering this island paradise before shaking those hips at a luau. The last few days take you to Big Island (also known as Hawai'i) to heat up your vacation (literally!) with a visit to Volcanoes National Park. With chill-out time on the beach balanced with stunning national park visits, this tour ticks off all the boxes.

Day 1: Kahului
Arrive at any time.
Activity: Your opportunity to meet your CEO and fellow travellers, and learn more about your tour. Opt to join the group for a local meal afterwards.
Accommodation: Maui Beach Hotel (or similar)

Day 2: Kahului
In the morning hit the beach with your group. Opt to snorkel, learn how to hang 10 with a surf lesson, go whale watching (seasonal), or just relax. In the afternoon, head to Lahaina and check out Banyan Court with the oldest living tree on Maui. Stroll along Front Street to enjoy the shopping and local art. Whatever you choose, make sure to save plenty of energy (and appetite) for this evening's Luau, a traditional Hawaiian party featuring dancing and delicious local foods like Poke and roast Pork.
Free Time: Opt to kickstart the adventure in Maui by watching the sunrise over Haleakala volcano, try a surf lesson, or enjoy free time on the beach.
Transport: Settle in and scan the scenery from the convenience of a private vehicle.
Activity: Music? Check. Traditional Hawaiian feast? Check. Hula? Check! Feel true Hawaiian hookipa (hospitality) at a local luau. This traditional Hawaiian party is world famous, and is a must do for any visitor to the islands. Grab a lei and get ready to get down like the locals.
Transport: Settle in and scan the scenery from the convenience of a private vehicle.
Activity: Spend the day exploring the classic Hawaiian beaches with your group and CEO, with plenty of opportunities to kick back, or explore the coast while snorkelling.
Accommodation: Maui Beach Hotel (or similar)
Meal(s): Dinner

Day 3: Kahului
Hop onboard and travel the famous Road to Hana. Enjoy the multiple stops along the way that highlight the local culture and take you back to the times of the Gods. Get out and stretch enroute at Hana Farms home of the best banana bread and all sorts of tropical fruits. Continue to Waiʻanapanapa State Park and squeeze the black volcanic sand through your toes, and opt to walk through a Lava Tube. Journey further down the road to the town of Hana and enjoy local lunch specialties. After lunch, head to Hamoa Beach surrounded by Hala trees to relax and soak it all in. Head back towards the hotel, stopping at a local favorite, Paia Fish Market for their signature 'Fresh Fish with Aloha' for dinner.
Activity: Take a day trip along the "Road to Hana" - this windy road circumnavigates the island and is the only connection to the small town of Hana on the east side of Maui. Stop by black sand beaches, towering waterfalls, and see how the real islanders live.
Accommodation: Maui Beach Hotel (or similar)

Day 4: Kahului/Hilo
Catch a flight to the island of Hawai'i (aka the Big Island) and transfer to the town of Hilo. Known for it's unique black lava environment and laid back atmosphere, enjoy the rest the day to explore as you see fit.
Transport: Settle in and scan the scenery from the convenience of a private vehicle.
Transport: Look! Up in the sky! It's a bird! It's a plane! It's... yup, it is a plane, actually.
Transport: Settle in and scan the scenery from the convenience of a private vehicle.
Accommodation: Grand Naniloa Hotel Hilo (or similar)

Day 5: Hilo
Enjoy a free day in Hilo. Opt to visit Wailuku River State Park to see the colourful mist of Rainbow Falls and the Boiling Pots, a series of pools carved by lava that give the appearance that they're bubbling. Alternatively, check out the town of Hilo, go kayaking in Hilo Bay, or opt to take in the vast scenery of Volcanoes National Park from above on an optional helicopter flight.
Free Time: The Hilo region of the Big Island is perfect for outdoor activities and home to a number of cascading waterfalls. Get out and explore!
Accommodation: Grand Naniloa Hotel Hilo (or similar)

Day 6: Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park
Travel to Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park and discover the lava flows and martian-like landscapes. During a full-day excursion, drive over new lava flows, see newly created black sand beaches, and hike to see cavernous craters. See first hand how the Hawaiian islands were formed, and continue to grow!
Transport: Settle in and scan the scenery from the convenience of a private vehicle.
Activity: Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park is home to one of the world's most active volcanos, Kilauea. Every day enough lava erupts to cover a 30 km road. Discover the park's lava lakes and tubes, and watch as lava flows into the ocean - creating a show of fire and steam!
Transport: Settle in and scan the scenery from the convenience of a private vehicle.
Accommodation: Courtyard by Marriott King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel (or similar)

Day 7: Kailua-Kona
Enjoy the town of Kailua-Kona and an included visit to Pu'uhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park. Visit the sacred grounds Pu'uhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park, home of many of Hawaii's monarchs, and a place of refuge during times of strife. Tour the park and witness the various wood-carved statues, learn about the ancient laws known as Kapu, and the spiritual undercurrents of Hawaiian culture.
Transport: Settle in and scan the scenery from the convenience of a private vehicle.
Activity: Pu'uhonua o Honaunau was an important site in ancient Hawaiian society. If someone were to break one of the religious laws, known as kapu, they would be sentenced to death. The only way to avoid this punishment was to elude their pursuers and make it to this site. Today, this protected area still houses the royal grounds, a temple that held the bones of past chiefs, and many carved wooden statues. Take time to explore the park and get a glimpse into the history of Hawaii.
Transport: Settle in and scan the scenery from the convenience of a private vehicle.
Accommodation: Courtyard by Marriott King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel (or similar)

Day 8: Kailua-Kona
