Tour Itinerary

See all that the Pacific Northwest and Western Canada have to offer with a spectacular Alaska Cruise and journey through the Rockies by rail. Includes a cycling grand tour or Sea Safari in Vancouver and Helicopter Flightseeing in the Rockies. 

Day 1 - Calgary
Arrive in Calgary and spend the rest of the day sightseeing in 'The Heart of the New West' independently. Overnight in Calgary.

Day 2 - Calgary to Banff
Depart Calgary this morning for a full-day tour concluding in Banff. Journey to Kananaskis where you will enjoy the highlight of today, a 12-minute Panoramic Helicopter Tour over the remarkable landscape of the Rockies. Continue on to Banff for a sightseeing tour including Bow Falls, Lake Minnewanka, Surprise Corner and the Hoodoos. Banff Gondola included. Your tour ends on arrival in Banff late this afternoon. Overnight in Banff.

Day 3 - Banff to Lake Louise
A half-day tour takes you into Yoho National Park to view some of its natural wonders. Among the attractions are the Spiral Tunnels, Emerald Lake and a natural rock bridge spanning the Kicking Horse River. The tour ends in Lake Louise where the remainder of the afternoon is at your leisure to enjoy this magnificent location. Overnight in Lake Louise Please note: While arrival at The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise will be approximately 1:00 p.m., scheduled check-in time is not until 4:00 p.m. In the event that your room is not ready, your luggage will be stored and you are free to enjoy the amenities of the hotel.

Day 4 - Lake Louise to Kamloops
Board the Rocky Mountaineer train at the Lake Louise Station at 9:00am MT to travel from the Lake Louise to Kamloops, located in the heart of British Columbia's interior. Your journey takes you through a spectacular array of scenery as you travel between the glacier and snow-capped peaks of the Canadian Rockies, over mountain passes and through remarkable tunnels, along rocky lakeshores and across the ranchlands of the interior. Today's highlights include the Continental Divide, the Spiral Tunnels, the Kicking Horse Canyon, Rogers Pass and Craigellachie ' where the last spike of the Canadian Pacific Railway was driven. You will arrive in Kamloops between 6:30pm and 8:00pm PT. Spend the evening exploring the city, or relaxing in your hotel. All hotels in Kamloops are of moderate standard: your hotel will be assigned post-booking.

Day 5 - Kamloops to Vancouver
Board the Rocky Mountaineer train at the Kamloops Station at 7:35am PT. On today's journey west, you will again see dramatic changes in scenery, from the desert-like environment of the Interior, through winding river canyons and pristine forests, to the Coast and Cascade Mountains and the lush green fields of the Fraser Valley. Breakfast and lunch will be served onboard. Highlights include the steep slopes and rock sheds along the Thompson River and the rushing waters of Hell's Gate in the Fraser Canyon. You will arrive in Vancouver between 6:00pm and 7:30pm PT.

Day 6 - Vancouver
Today, select your choice of one of four activity options: 1. Enjoy a six-hour sightseeing tour of Vancouver's spectacular North Shore. Travel across the Lions Gate Bridge and into the Coast Mountains. Experience the Capilano Suspension Bridge and Treetops Adventure, discovering the coastal temperate rainforest and British Columbia's First Nations heritage. Next, visit Grouse Mountain (gondola admission included), the Peak of Vancouver, and take in breathtaking views of the city, ocean, and surrounding mountains. Includes hotel pick-up/drop-off transportation; 2. Enjoy a five-hour guided cycling tour of Vancouver's highlights, and experience the best of Vancouver food, history, ecology and culture while being active. The 23km ride takes in the seawall and rainforest of Stanley Park, English Bay, Granville Island (including the Aquabus ferry), False Creek, Chinatown, Gastown, and Coal Harbour. Includes helmet and bicycle rental. Please note: Guests' heights needed to arrange appropriately-sized bicycles, and guests will need to make their own way to/from 1344 Burrard St. for the tour; 3. British Columbia's mild climate and unique geographic location, tucked between mountains and sea, provide the province with an abundance of amazing culinary bounty which guests will explore on this in-depth 'Made in BC' Vancouver food tour on Granville Island. In the company of an experienced local chef or food writer (maximum six guests/docent), this 2.5 hour walk will get under the skin (or peel) of this fascinating and delicious world as intellectually curious guests tour the market, meet some of the local producers and taste their delicious wares. Please note: Include any dietary restrictions or allergies, and the docent will adapt accordingly, as there are several tastings of fish or seafood, and guests will need to make their own way to/from 126 Davie St. for the tour; 4. Experience the Howe Sound coast line from a 30 ft. rigid hull inflatable boat on a 'Sea Safari'. With the refreshing sea mist in their faces, guests will take in the towering cliffs of Anvil Island, the seals at play at Pam Rocks, the caves of Bowen Island, and many more picturesque sights only seen from the water. Spend an unforgettable 2 hours cruising along the water's surface, surrounded by BC's unique Coastal Mountains, taking pictures with seals bathing in the sun, or cruising through the waves on our natural roller coaster. Day 7 - Vancouver

Day 9 -
Located at the foot of grand mountain peaks on the Gastineau Channel, the town of Juneau has the massive Mendenhall Glacier and the immense Juneau Icefields at its back door. Juneau is the place to let your imagination run wild. Explore the lush Tongass National Forest, visit the rustic shops in town, set out and whale watch, flightsee, hike, kayak, raft or fish. Due to the long daylight hours, there's plenty of time for your perfect Juneau adventure. Overnight on Holland America's ms Volendam.

Day 10 - Juneau to Skagway
Take your time and poke into every little store from the Trail Bench to Lynch & Kennedy's Dry Goods. The Red Onion Saloon, with its honky tonk piano and costumed barmaids, is a treasure trove of memorabilia featuring pictures of Klondike Kate, Peahull Annie and other vintage characters. To complete the picture of those rip-roaring days, visit the nostalgic Trail of '98 Museum. The Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park boasts restored buildings and wooden boardwalks that invite you to take a stroll into the past. Overnight on Holland America's ms Volendam.

Day 11 - Skagway
As Biosphere Reserve and UNESCO World Heritage Site, Glacier Bay National Park protects a unique ecosystem of plants and animals living in concert with an ever-changing glacial landscape. Bring out the camera and listen for the thunderous sound of a monumental chunk of ice that has split from a glacier as it crashes into the sea. The impact shoots water hundreds of feet into the air. Glacier Bay has more actively calving tidewater glaciers than anyplace else in the world. Overnight on Holland America's ms Volendam.

Day 12 -
Built out over the water and climbing weathered stairways, Ketchikan clings to the shores of Tongass Narrows and drapes the mountains with a cheerful air. Take time to explore Creek Street, the Tongass Historical Museum, Totem Bight State Park and Saxman Village, Ketchikan's main attractions. Deep water fjords created by retreating glaciers has left behind stunning granite cliffs towering thousands of feet above the sea and countless waterfalls cascading into placid waters. Overnight on Holland America's ms Volendam.
