DAY 1, Thursday - Depart for Poland

DAY 2, Friday - Arrive in Warsaw
Arrive in Warsaw, Poland's capital city and transfer to your hotel. Balance of the day is at leisure. This evening at approximately 6 pm, enjoy a Welcome Drink and orientation meeting with your Tour Manager and fellow travelers, followed by a Welcome Dinner. We recommend that you select flights which arrive in your destination no later than 4 pm on Day 2 of the itinerary, or earlier if possible

DAY 3, Saturday - Warsaw City Tour
This morning, a tour of Warsaw includes both banks of the Vistula River. Visit Lazienki Park to view Chopin's Monument, then travel along the Royal Route with its historic monuments and residences toward the Warsaw Ghetto. Walk through the cobbled streets to the Market Square. View the Cathedral of St. John and the Royal Castle. Balance of the day is at leisure or join the optional tour to Wilanow Palace.* This former summer residence of the Polish kings is situated just outside of Warsaw. The tour of the palace makes Polish history come alive. Wilanow was built at the end of the 17th century for King Jan III Sobieski*Advance purchase is highly recommended for this tour. Tickets are limited and may not be available for purchase locally.

DAY 4, Sunday - Jasna Gora Monastery
Travel south to Czestochowa to see the Paulite Monastery at Jasna Gora, a place of devout pilgrimage by Polish Catholics and home of the Black Madonna, a portrait of Our Lady that is said to have miraculous powers. Drive to Krakow, former residence of the Polish kings. Remainder of the day is at leisure or join the optional Wieliczka Salt Mine tour. The mine's historical importance, as well as the amazing works of art carved into the walls by miners, have earned the Wieliczka Salt Mine a place on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage list

DAY 5, Monday - Krakow City Tour, Auschwitz-Birkenau Tour
This morning, enjoy a tour of medieval Krakow, including a visit to the 16th century Wawel Royal Castle District. Proceed to the Jewish Quarter and visit the Ghetto Heroes Square to view the Jewish Ghetto Memorial, called "The Lonely Chairs." Continue to the Old Town and Market Square to view St. Mary's Church and the Renaissance Cloth Hall. In the afternoon tour Auschwitz-Birkenau, the infamous network of concentration camps from World War II. It has since been turned into a museum by the Polish government and is on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites

DAY 6, Tuesday - Scenic Drive to Budapest
This morning, travel to the small, quaint village of Orawka to view St. John the Baptist Church, the oldest existing wooden church in the Upper Orava region in Poland. It was built in 1651-1656 from top quality knot-free larch timber using the horizontal log technique. Continue through the scenic Tatra Mountains and the wooded countryside of Slovakia before reaching the Danube Valley and Hungary's capital city of Budapest with its world-class classical music scene and pulsating nightlife. The remainder of the day is at leisure

DAY 7, Wednesday - Budapest City Tour
Your morning tour begins in Pest with a chance to view the Parliament, Royal Palace and Heroes' Square. You will cross the Danube River on the Elizabeth Bridge into the Buda Hills. Visit Castle Hill to see the 13th century Matthias Coronation Church. From Fisherman's Bastion, enjoy a panoramic view of the city. Spend the afternoon at leisure, and tonight perhaps choose the optional Danube Cruise that includes dinner

DAY 8, Thursday - Travel to Vienna
Spend the morning at leisure in Budapest or join the optional tour to Parliament, St. Stephen’s & Great Market Hall. Later, depart Hungary and travel through the Austrian countryside to Vienna, the former center of the Hapsburg Empire. Spend the balance of the day at leisure in Vienna. Tonight, don’t miss the optional evening of Viennese culture in the "City of Music” featuring the classical masterpieces of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Johann Strauss, two of Vienna's most famous citizens

Continue with a drive along the famous Ringstrasse and view the Empress Maria Theresia Monument, Votive Church, City Hall and Parliament. Next, walk through the Hofburg courtyards to the State Opera House. The rest of the day is at leisure, or join the optional The Glory of the Hapsburg Emperors. Journey through over 1,000 years of power, wealth and glory and experience imperial Vienna at the Hapsburg Treasury. Afterwards, visit the Imperial Crypt where your local expert makes the days of the great Empire come alive

DAY 10, Saturday - Bratislava Excursion
This morning take a half-day excursion across the border to Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. For centuries, this city has been famous for its charm and beauty. It has undergone a major revitalization and now flourishes as one of Europe's newest capitals. The beautifully restored old town with its winding lanes and medieval courtyards is nestled between the steep Castle Hill and the Danube River. First, explore the historic center on a guided walking tour. After, take time to stroll the lively pedestrian streets of this charming city where local street vendors offer regional gifts before returning to Vienna. Tonight, enjoy the optional Austrian Country Dinner. Begin with a short drive through the legendary Vienna Woods to the top of Mount Kahlenberg with panoramic views of Vienna. Continue to a charming old wine village for dinner. The characteristic Heurigen tavern dates back to the 18th century and has been family run for generations. A local musician will entertain with traditional melodies, while hearty Austrian dishes are served

DAY 12, Monday - Prague City Tour
This morning’s sightseeing will include a walking tour of the Lesser Town and the Old Town, viewing the 14th century Charles Bridge, with its 30 baroque statues of various saints. From here, admire the views up to the Prague castle. Continue through the Old Town Square to view the famous Town Hall, Astronomical Clock, Municipal House, Powder Tower and the Jewish Quarter. The rest of the day is at leisure, or join the optional afternoon tour to the hilltop Prague Castle complex, former residence of Bohemian Kings and to the magnificent St. Vitus Cathedral, where kings were crowned and battles were fought. Stop at the ornate Zwinger Palace, once a setting for court festivities, and the world-famous Semper Opera House. DAY 14, Wednesday - Berlin City Tour
This morning, take a guided tour of Berlin. Marvel at the landmarks of the old East and West sections of Berlin, including the Brandenburg Gate, symbol of the reunification, the glass dome Reichstag Building and "Checkpoint Charlie," the last remaining mark of the formerly divided city. Drive along Unter den Linden Boulevard past the State Opera House and the imposing Cathedral. End the day in the shopping and entertainment district of Kurfürstendamm with its rows of boutiques, cafes and non-stop activity. Balance of the day is at leisure or join the optional tour to nearby Potsdam. The historic "City of Palaces" is well known as the meeting place of Truman, Churchill and Stalin in 1945 at the Cecilienhof Palace for the Potsdam Conference, where they created post-World War II Europe.
