DAY 1, Thursday - Depart for Croatia
Depart on your flight to Dubrovnik, Croatia

DAY 2, Friday - Arrive in Dubrovnik
Upon arrival in Dubrovnik, transfer to the hotel. You'll have the balance of the day at leisure, to rest or explore on your own. This evening at approximately 7pm, enjoy a Welcome Dinner and orientation meeting with your Tour Manager on the fascinating journey that awaits you. We recommend that you select flights which arrive in your destination no later than 5 pm or earlier, if possible

DAY 3, Saturday - Explore Dubrovnik
Dubrovnik stands as one of Europe's most beautifully preserved medieval cities, surrounded by ramparts, watchtowers, and the azure Adriatic Sea. Within its walls, spend the morning exploring a treasure trove of rich history. Admire the Rector's Palace and visit the Franciscan Monastery, home to a 30,000-volume library and the 14th century pharmacy that is the oldest still in function pharmacy in Europe. Admire the stunning views of the Old Town and the Adriatic when you walk along the city's fortress wall. This 1¼ -mile stroll around Dubrovnik's perimeter offers a breathtaking perspective of red-roofed stone buildings and ancient, narrow alleys. Conclude the tour with cake and coffee at a local cafe. Later, visit a local artisan to learn about the traditional craftsmanship that still thrives today. Tonight, meet a Croatian family at their residence and enjoy a home-prepared dinner

DAY 4, Sunday - Perast, Medieval Kotor, Tivat
Cross into Montenegro and drive toward the beautiful bay of Kotor, Europe's southernmost fjord. In the old town of Perast, the best preserved baroque town in the Adriatic, view the Cathedral of St. Nicola. After, take a boat ride to Our Lady of the Rocks. Once there, visit the 17th century Roman Catholic Church, whose walls and ceiling are covered with 68 paintings by a famous local artist. Stop for a prosciutto and local cheese tasting before heading to the charming city of Kotor. The city is one of the best preserved medieval towns in the Adriatic and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. During the city tour, view the Cathedral of St. Tryphon, one of the most recognizable symbols of the city, Maritime Museum, several Palaces, and historic town square. Later, drive to coastal Tivat for overnight

DAY 5, Monday - Shkodra, Venice Art Mask Factory, Tirana
Depart for Tirana this morning, making a photo stop along the way at Sveti Stefan, a fortified island village. Continue to Shkodra, one of the oldest cities in Europe for a visit to the Venice Art Mask Factory. Founded in 1998 by Edmond Angoni, it is one of the world's leading manufacturers of handmade Venetian masks. During your tour, learn about the process of making these masks. Proceed to the village of Fishte, birthplace of Albania’s national poet, Gjergj Fishta. for lunch at a local farm. Later, head to Tirana, the capital of Albania since 1920, located at the foot of Dajti Mountain. Tonight, gather together for dinner at a local restaurant

DAY 6, Tuesday - Colorful Tirana, Wine Tasting
Begin the day with a city tour of Tirana. Visit famous Skanderbeg Square, dedicated to Albania’s national hero, home to the Opera House and the National Historic Museum adorned with a gigantic mosaic mural known as 'The Albanians'. Pause at the small and elegant Mosque of Et'hem Bey, one of the oldest buildings left in the city before proceeding to the Clock Tower and the towering statue of G.K. Skanderbeg. Continue with a visit to Bunk'Art 2, an ex-nuclear bunker that was conversed to a museum featuring photographs and equipment that illustrate the political persecution of some 100,000 Albanians from 1945 until 1991. Later, arrive in Durres, a port city on the Adriatic. Walk around its city walls, Byzantine Forum and Roman Thermal Baths. After a seafood lunch, stop at King Zog’s Villa, former summer palace of the Albanian royal family, located on top of a hill overlooking the city. On the return trip to Tirana, visit Kantina e Pijeve Gjergj Kastrioti Skenderbeu, the most famous wine cellar in Albania and sample different types of local wines

DAY 7, Wednesday - Elbasan, Lakeside Ohrid
Travel to the Republic of Northern Macedonia town of Ohrid, a jewel of the Balkans, set beside a pristine lake and topped by a medieval castle. En route, stop in Elbasan, one of the largest cities in Albania to view its city walls. Upon arrival in Ohrid, begin the tour of the city with a visit to the Icon Gallery, one of the world's most significant icon galleries. Continue to the National Museum, housed in a well-preserved old townhouse, which dates to 1863 and was once owned by the Robev family of merchants. Tonight's dinner together is at a charming local restaurant

DAY 8, Thursday - Cooking Class, Bay of Bones, St. Naum Monastery
Today, learn to cook a traditional Northern Macedonian dish. Follow the recipe given to you and later enjoy your own creation. In the afternoon, visit the Bay of Bones on the southern coast of the Gradiste Peninsula. This pile dwelling ancient settlement built on a platform is a Museum on Water, an exceptional archaeological complex and the first of its kind in the entire region. Afterward, drive along the shores of Lake Ohrid to reach St. Naum Monastery with its world-renowned priceless icons and religious paintings. Very close to the monastery are the springs of the Crn Drim river, often referred to as the Springs of Sveti Naum – the main supply of water for Lake Ohrid. Take a short boat tour of the pristine waters and admire the beautiful scenery. Return to your hotel and spend the evening at leisure

DAY 9, Friday - Greece Border Crossing, Florina, Waterfalls of Edessa, Thessaloniki
Depart Ohrid and proceed to the Greek border crossing. After clearing immigration and customs, continue the journey with a visit to Florina for an orientation tour. Afterwards, proceed to Edessa, with its beautiful waterfalls. Following lunch, head to Thessaloniki, capital of Macedonia and second largest city in Greece. Arrive in Thessaloniki for dinner and overnight

DAY 10, Saturday - Discover Thessaloniki, Walking Food Tour
This morning, visit the Museum of Byzantine Culture. Its impressive exhibits feature icons, sculptures, mosaics, and frescoes from the Byzantine period. Attend a lecture about Thessaloniki's long history of occupation, and how it managed to maintain a large population and flourishing commerce. Afterward, embark on a walking food tour, where you discover Thessaloniki's distinct local flavors. Learn about the regional cuisine and sample Greek meze dishes and freshly baked goods. Visit the open-air market, with its charming paved alleys, stalls filled with fresh produce, fish, meat, spices, dairy products, and many local specialties. After lunch at a taverna, spend free time at Aristotelous Square. In the afternoon, take a boat tour around the Thermaikos Gulf and enjoy views of Thessaloniki and the beautiful coastline. DAY 11, Sunday - Thessaloniki Highlights, Ancient Vergina, Kalambaka
Your tour of Thessaloniki starts at the Arch of Galerius (Kamara), one of the most distinctive Roman structures in the city, built as a triumphal monument by the Emperor. On to the iconic 15th century White Tower, once used as a fort, garrison, and prison. Because of its fame as a notorious prison, it was also known as the "Tower of Blood." At the Basilica of St. Demetrios, devoted to the patron saint of the city, you see a superb example of Byzantine religious architecture. Afterward, a closer look at the city's Byzantine walls and panoramic views of Thessaloniki and the Gulf of Thermaikos before departing to the archaeological Site of Vergina in Central Macedonia. Considered one the most extraordinary finds of the 20th century, Vergina was the first capital of the ancient kingdom of Macedonia. Visit the Royal Tomb of King Phillip (father of Alexander the Great); view the famous "Vergina Treasures" including gold urns, jeweled wreaths, unique art, ivory, and armor, protected by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage Site. Continue to the town of Kalambaka, nestled at the base of inspirational Meteora for dinner at your hotel and some lively Greek music & dancing

DAY 12, Monday - Meteora Monasteries, Cooking Class, Athens

The monasteries appear to be suspended in mid-air! These monasteries are indeed an extraordinary achievement and a powerful example of dedication, determination, and courage. DAY 13, Tuesday - Athens and the Acropolis
Today explore Athens - an astonishing living museum! Watch a 3D visual presentation of the Acropolis the way it was some 2,500 years ago. After, a panoramic drive takes you past the grand 4th century Panathenian Stadium built as a venue for athletic contests, the ruins of the Temple of Zeus and Hadrian's Arch commemorating the Roman Emperor. Stand before the imposing Acropolis, the ancient architectural masterpiece built during the Golden Age of Athens, crowned by the magnificent Parthenon that rises above the city, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. On to the modernist Acropolis Museum that brings together the surviving treasures of the Acropolis. The rest of the day is yours.
