Tour Itinerary

Cruise the Danube for seven nights, with stays in boutiquehotels in Budapest and Prague. Attend a concert at theKursalon in Vienna; privately tour a World War II art bunkerin Nuremberg; and trace Kafka's footsteps through Prague.

DAY 1: Arrive Budapest, Hungary

Arrive in Budapest, where you are met and transferred to yourhotel. In 1872, the three Hungarian settlements of Obuda, Pestand Buda merged as one, and the illustrious capital of Budapestwas born. Following its unification, Budapest underwent rapidgrowth and expanded its political sphere, setting the stage for thecity's golden age. Tonight, join fellow guests and your ResidentTour Director for a welcome dinner.

DAY 2: Budapest

Join your intimate group, visiting Baroque Godollo Castle and itsgardens. During the reign of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, the palace became a favorite summer residence of the royal family.Return to central Budapest with time for lunch at leisure. Then,meet your ship for priority embarkation. This evening, cruisethrough Budapest, passing under the illuminated Chain Bridge,while a gypsy band performs on board.

DAY 3: Budapest

See Buda’s cobbled streets and Pest's 19th-century buildings.Throughout the course of your tour, admire Matthias Church;Fisherman's Bastion, oddly more decorative than defensive;St. Stephen's Basilica, which stands just as tall as the ParliamentBuilding to symbolize the balance of church and state; and theParliament Building itself, whose undulating Grand Stairwayenchants with flowing crimson carpets and brilliant gold leaf.Enjoy a garden lunch ashore at a Buda villa and an afternoontour of Jewish heritage, where you visit the Great Synagogueand the Hungarian Jewish Museum.

DAY 4: Bratislava, Slovakia & Vienna, Austria

Arrive in Bratislava and visit its old quarter. In intimatecompany, visit the 18th-century Primate’s Palace and viewSt. Martin’s Cathedral and Grassalkovich Palace. Back onboard, enjoy a private cocktail party and an exclusive Chef 'sHighlights dinner. Cruise to Vienna.

DAY 5: Vienna

Enjoy a panoramic tour of Vienna, an imperial masterpieceand the capital of Austria. Visit Schönbrunn Palace for astrudel-making demonstration. After leisure time, experiencea fantastic dinner ashore, and enjoy preferred seating at a Soundof Vienna concert in the Kursalon.

DAY 6: D��rnstein & Melk

Take a walking tour of Dürnstein, followed by a wine tastingand private lunch ashore at a restaurant in the WachauValley. Visit Melk Abbey, then enjoy a guided tour of SchlossArtstetten, home of the descendants of Emperor Franz Josef.Among the famous castle owners interred here are EmperorFranz I, the father-in-law of Napoleon Bonaparte; andArchduke Franz Ferdinand, whose startling assassinationignited World War I.

DAY 7: Salzburg

Discover Salzburg during a walking tour of the old town.Birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart — widely considered one of the greatest classical composers of all time — Salzburgserved as a fervent center of music for centuries and still playshost to a prestigious summer festival. Pay a visit to the Eagle'sNest, Hitler's wartime getaway, where you pause for lunch.Rejoin your ship in Passau. This evening, the captain hosts agala dinner on board.

DAY 8: Nuremberg & Regensburg, Germany

In Nuremberg, visit the city’s altstadt (old town). See theImperial Castle and Palace of Justice, and have lunch ashore.Later, privately tour a World War II art bunker, an A&Kexclusive. Back on board your ship in Regensburg, enjoy aBavarian-themed evening.

DAY 9: Cesky Krumlov, Czech Republic

Disembark in Passau and drive to Cesky Krumlov, where youvisit the city’s museum, Old Town and stunning 13th-centurycastle. Tucked away in the hills of the southern Czech Republic,Cesky Krumlov delights with its medieval detailing and pastoralcountryside. Though occupied by German forces during WorldWar II, the town managed to avoid any serious conflict andremains remarkably well preserved. After lunch, continue toPrague for an evening at leisure.

DAY 10: Prague

Explore Prague’s Old Town and its Jewish Quarter, birthplaceof Franz Kafka. An integral part of the city's cultural history,the Bohemian Jewish novelist spent many years in the OldTown, where cobblestone streets, enchanting spires and cozypubs create a fairy-tale atmosphere. As a proper send-off,there is even a memorial dedicated to Kafka on Dusni Street— a peculiar bronze sculpture depicting the writer riding onthe shoulders of a headless figure. Take in the Town Hall’siconic astronomical clock, the Jewish Museum and theJewish Cemetery. Following an afternoon at leisure, gatherfor a farewell dinner.

DAY 11: Depart Prague
