A spectacular drive through the Dolomites—the “Rocky Mountains” of Europe—brings you to Bassano, where Globus has arranged a special treat: a grappa tasting along with local specialties at the Grappa Museum. But that‘s not all… among the many unique experiences offered by Globus on this tour, travel to the medieval walled town of Monteriggioni, which dates back to the early 13th century and still has the original 14 towers. Walk through the main square and have free time to explore, and taste the traditional almond cookie specialties. All of this and much more are included on this vacation. From its beautiful mountains to its exciting cities and from its amazing historic sights to its delicious cuisine, Italy offers it all. Be sure to bring your camera, so you can capture the memories you’ll create on this remarkable Italy tour!

Day 1: ARRIVE IN ROME, ITALY.
Welcome to Rome! At 5 pm, meet your Tour Director and traveling companions, and leave the hotel for a welcome dinner at one of Rome’s lively restaurants. (D)

Day 2: ROME.
Start with a guided visit to the ancient COLOSSEUM, where gladiators once fought. An optional walking tour with a Local Guide is available to further explore Rome's famous sites. (B)

Day 3: ROME–MONTERIGGIONI–CHIANTI HILLS.
This morning, explore the religious part of Rome: enjoy a guided visit of the VATICAN MUSEUMS and SISTINE CHAPEL with Michelangelo’s ceiling paintings and The Last Judgment, followed by a visit to ST. PETER’S SQUARE and BASILICA to admire Michelangelo’s Pietà. Then, leave the “Eternal City” and follow the Apennine Hills to [LF] the medieval walled town of Monteriggioni, which dates back to the early 13th century, and still has the original 14 towers. Walk to the main square, Piazza Roma, have some free time, and try traditional cantucci alle mandorle (local almond biscuits). Enjoy views of unforgettable vine-clad landscapes on the way to your hotel, perfectly situated in the renowned Chianti hills.

Day 6: VERONA AREA.
In Verona, medieval setting of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, join your Local Guide on a walking tour of this interesting city. By Angela R on Jul 27, 2019

The hotels were not what I expected. I was very disappointed with 2 of the 4 hotels. I believe one hotel was 1 stars and the other 2 stars.

By Shirley M on Jul 27, 2019

Our tour guide and bus driver was great. The staff at most hotels were not very friendly. The American Breakfast was not good. It is known that Europe doesn't do eggs so it would be more valuable if they all had boiled eggs. The bacon needs to be cooked until it is brown and crisp. One hotel had plenty of outlets and one hotel only had two. It would be nice if hotels had TV remotes that translated language of the movies, one hotel did have it.

By James F on May 17, 2019

Although the hotels were nice, some of them were not within walking distance of tourist attractions.

By Patricia G on May 11, 2019

I enjoyed this trip very much. However, some of the Hotels had very small rooms and it was probably good for one person, but very uncomfortable for two people. I travelled with another companion, and we had very little space to move around. Please consider better accommodations for two people. Overall, Italy was a very good experience and food was great. Our tour director Ursula was great!! I would definitely do another trip having Ursula as my tour director.

By Renee M on May 19, 2018

All information was provided prior to departure, hotels, areas we were visiting, local tours, etc. I will say that some of the online photos of the hotels were outdated, however that cannot be controlled by the tour operator. Our tour guide, Daniella, was fantastic and full of knowledge. The itinerary was very full, early departure times in the morning caused a little grumbling but this tour did cover a lot of ground and we were able to see sights with less crowds, which I personally appreciated.

By James S on Apr 28, 2018

Excellent price and accomodation. Everything was to our liking. Will use globus again on our next travel

By Kara M on May 15, 2017

Amazing trip! Will not hesitate to use affordable tours in the future

By Melanie C on May 28, 2016

We thought the trip met our expectations, tour leader great, bus driver very good and safe, hotels fine, meals ok, some better than others, a little too much free time, especially last day when we had 4 hours free in Venice. It was our grandson's choice and he said he was sad it was over!

By Cheryl C on Sep 26, 2015

The trip consisted of more steps and uphill walking than anticipated. There also were frequent cobblestone streets and uneven walking required.

By Connie A on Sep 12, 2015

The hotel accommodations at two of the facilities were shabby. One had mosquitoes flying in the lobby and room (this was in Piza) and the last hotel carpeting was old and stained and the rooms had no air conditioning. ( in Padua) Definitely not top notch.

By Kannan N on Aug 01, 2015

Globus is very good tour operators, liked the tour director and all the aspects of our tour was beyond expectations. I will recommend to take Globus tours.

By Teresa L on May 23, 2015

would have liked to do wine tasting instead of grappa tasting Florence was cut too short. wish they would have started later in the morning maybe 8am instead of 7 and 7:30.

By James J on May 09, 2015

The trip was very enjoyable and enlightening, Saw lots of Art, Architecture and had great food. The tour guide was energetic, enthusiastic and well organized, and patient with all travelers, helping them to get the most out of their trip. Two of the hotels had no air conditioning which made things miserable because Europe was experiencing a record heat wave but no matter how hot it gets the hotel will not turn on the air conditioning until June 1. Those hotels, the AC Marriott Hotel in Pisa (forevermore to be known as the no AC Marriott) and the Plaza Hotel in Padua (Forevermore to be known as Dante's Inferno Hotel) need to go back and read the definition of hospitality.
