Itinerary

Tour Itinerary

See the stories of the Scriptures come to life as you walk in the footsteps of Jesus on this faith-based journey which includes some of Christianity’s most important sites. Visit places of biblical importance such as Megiddo, Cana and the Mount of Beatitudes and hear the stories of the Bible told over time. The Old City of Jerusalem will leave you amazed as you see and learn more about Jesus’ life. No visit to Israel is complete without floating on the Dead Sea, the perfect way to relax and reflect about your experience. This is truly an inspirational vacation of a lifetime.

Day 1: ARRIVE IN TEL AVIV, ISRAEL.
Welcome to Tel Aviv. Enjoy this evening’s welcome dinner, hosted by your Tour Director, who will introduce you to your upcoming spiritual journey. (D)

Day 2: TEL AVIV–JAFFA–CAESAREA–MEGIDDO–MUHRAQA–SEA OF GALILEE.
Your tour of the Holy Land begins in Jaffa with a walk through the beautifully restored ANCIENT PORT, where medieval pilgrims started their strenuous 2-day trek to Jerusalem. Next is Caesarea, the perfect place to learn about the Roman and Crusader presence in the country. Visit the archaeological site with the ROMAN AMPHITHEATER and the impressive medieval CRUSADER FORTRESS, and admire Herod’s Stadium and harbor. In the afternoon, travel to the ancient fortified city of MEGIDDO—one of the world’s most important biblical sites. According to the New Testament, the Battle of Armageddon (another name for Megiddo) will be the final struggle between good and evil, prompting the return of Jesus to defeat the Antichrist and cast Satan into the abyss. Continue north, to Mount Carmel, considered the most holy of all mountains in ancient times. At Muhraqa, site of Elijah’s contest of faith with the priests of Baal, enjoy a sweeping panoramic view of the fertile Jezreel Valley, where Gideon led the Israelites to victory against the Midianites. Arrive at your hotel in Tiberias on the western shore of the Sea of Galilee.
Today’s Distance: 99 mi / 160 km (B,D)

Day 3: SEA OF GALILEE. EXCURSION TO CANA & NAZARETH.
Visit CANA, site of Jesus’ wedding miracle of turning water into wine. Even now, many couples renew their wedding vows at this sacred place. On to Nazareth, Virgin Mary’s home village, and where Jesus spent part of his childhood. Visit the CHURCH OF THE ANNUNCIATION; ST. JOSEPH’S CHURCH, built over Joseph’s carpentry workshop; and pass by Mary’s Well and the Church of the Angel Gabriel, where the angel appeared to Mary to announce she would give birth to Jesus. Later enjoy a CRUISE on the Sea of Galilee and see an ancient fishing boat, said to be from the time of Christ.
Today’s Distance: 39 mi / 62 km (B,D)

Day 4: SEA OF GALILEE–MOUNT OF BEATITUDES–TABGHA–CAPERNAUM–MAGDALA–JORDAN RIVER–BET SHE’AN–JERUSALEM.
Much of Jesus’ ministry occurred on the shores surrounding the Sea of Galilee. It is where he recruited four of his apostles, walked on water, calmed the storm, and fed the multitude. Visit the MOUNT OF BEATITUDES, where Jesus delivered his Sermon on the Mount. Next, visit the CHURCH OF THE MULTIPLICATION OF LOAVES AND FISHES at Tabgha, as well as the CHURCH OF ST. PETER’S PRIMACY, where Jesus instructed Peter “to feed my lambs and tend my sheep.” Warm springs once flowed into the sea here, attracting fish, which is why Peter came here to earn a living. On to CAPERNAUM, where Jesus recruited his first followers among the fishermen. Continue to MAGDALA, a city dating back to the first century and where Jesus taught in the synagogue. Via the ruins of Kursi, which memorialize two of Jesus’ miracles, arrive at the Jordan River and visit a BAPTISMAL SITE. Then, pass through the ancient city of Bet She’an, one of the cities of the Decapolis with its well-preserved Roman amphitheater. The city is located at the foot of Mount Gilboa, where King Saul and his son died by their own hands in battle with the Philistines. On the way to Jerusalem, stop for a breathtaking panoramic view of the Holy City, considered one of the oldest places in the world, with a history dating back as far as 4000 BC.
Today’s Distance: 134 mi / 216 km (B,D)

Day 5: JERUSALEM. EXCURSION TO EIN KAREM, BETHLEHEM & THE GARDEN TOMB.
This morning, drive to Ein Karem and visit the CHURCH OF ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST and the CHURCH OF VISITATION, said to be built over the home of John the Baptist’s parents. Enjoy a beautiful view of the valley and surrounding wooded hills. Continue to Bethlehem and see Shepherd’s Field, where the angels announced the birth of Jesus. Next, visit the CHURCH OF THE NATIVITY on the site where Jesus was born. On the way back to Jerusalem, visit the GARDEN TOMB.
Today’s Distance: 34 mi / 55 km (B,D)

Day 6: JERUSALEM. EXCURSION TO THE OLD CITY.
After a stunning view of the city from the revered MOUNT OF OLIVES, start your guided walking tour. Via the Chapel of Dominus Flevit, designed in the shape of a teardrop to symbolize the tears of Christ, arrive at the GARDEN OF GETHSEMANE, where Jesus prayed the night before his arrest. Nearby are the Cave of the Assumption of Mary, believed to be the Virgin Mary’s tomb; and the Cave of Betrayal, where Judas betrayed Jesus. Follow the VIA DOLOROSA with its nine Stations of the Cross, marking the path Jesus walked on the way to his crucifixion. At Golgotha, visit the CHURCH OF THE HOLY SEPULCHRE, erected on the site of the crucifixion and which houses the remaining five Stations of the Cross. Walk past the Temple Mount to see the Dome of the Rock, which is sacred to both the Jewish and Muslim people. On to the WESTERN WALL, the only remnant of the Second Temple, then stroll through the restored Jewish Quarter to MOUNT ZION and visit the UPPER ROOM, where Jesus and his disciples had the Last Supper; the TOMB OF KING DAVID; and the HOUSE OF CAIAPHAS, where Jesus was kept the night after his arrest and where Peter denied knowing him three times. (B)

Day 7: JERUSALEM.
Spend a full day at leisure, with time to attend a worship service at one of Jerusalem’s churches. Later, maybe join an optional excursion that includes a visit to the Israel Museum to see the Shrine of the Book and the Dead Sea Scrolls; the Holocaust Memorial at Yad Vashem; and the Inn of the Good Samaritan. (B,D)

Day 8: JERUSALEM. EXCURSION TO MASADA & THE DEAD SEA.
Today, travel through the Judean wilderness to the Dead Sea, the planet’s lowest point on dry land. Enjoy the scenery as you follow the road between the salty water and majestic desert mountains. Catch glimpses of the Caves of Qumran, where the precious Dead Sea Scrolls were found. Ascend by CABLE CAR to the spectacular clifftop FORTRESS OF MASADA, and hear how 960 Jewish rebels made their last stand against Roman forces. Around lunchtime, reach your comfortable DEAD SEA RESORT for free time to experience the incredible buoyancy in the heavy saltwater. Return to Jerusalem, and join your traveling companions one last time at tonight’s farewell dinner to celebrate the blessings you experienced on your Holy Land adventure.
Today’s Distance: 99 mi / 160 km (B,D)

Day 9: JERUSALEM.
Your vacation ends with breakfast this morning. (The nearest airport is Tel Aviv.) (B)

Fantastic, amazing tour of Israel. We also went into Palestine to visit Bethlehem. Our tour guide, Jacob, was A1 excellent.

By Anita B on Sep 15, 2019

The 'Journey Through the Holy land' tour was great.

By Irma L on Sep 09, 2019

The Tour Director assigned to our Tour, locked of kindness, patience, would not answer our questions as we wanted to ge to know the land of Israel, History, tec. he was very short, in two occasions left us alone, on our own, only said " I will meet you at the bus in 45 Minutes. I've been in several tours before, one with Globus- never had an experience like this,

By Rogelio D on May 13, 2019

An enriching spiritual experience everybody should take part of. the tour provides enlightenment on the history of Christianity and brings one closer relationship with the Creator.

By Carole B on Mar 25, 2019

The tour guide was inefficient and careless. Several times each day he requested travelers to volunteer to take a head count or collect money for an additional trip, and to report on which travelers returned head phones and chargers. His directions for meeting places and times were given and then changed and sometimes changed again. The members of the tours were herded into restaurants for luncheons at which two meal choices were offered at a fixed price of $14 or $25. The hotel rooms in Tel Aviv and particularly in Jerusalem were not well cleaned. There were so many smudges and dirty spots on the glass in the bedroom that I used paper napkins before I placed anything on it. On the whole I found the tour disappointing and tedious.

By Janet D on Oct 08, 2018

Israel trip was fantastic. I learned a great deal of history and present day struggles. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable, kind and patient. On the negative, the food choices were not exceptional and the days were extremely long with a great deal of walking on cobblestone streets. I would recommend stating the level of activity on your web site. Overall it was well worth it!

By Tania T on Oct 08, 2018

My experience in this tour is more there I expect places we did where amazing interesting and beautiful the tour director was the best on his knowledge and the love and passion for his country was something special the service all around was very good .I love this trip very much

By Elizabeth N on Oct 08, 2018

It was a fact-filled experience but tiring.

By Rita D on Sep 10, 2018

The trip was a wonderful experience. The tour guide was very knowledgeable. Israel was safe and most interesting and moving.

By Rosele L on May 20, 2018

The Itinerary was great as there is so much to see in the Holy Land. The Globus tour guide wasn't the best for this tour however.

By Robert F on Feb 19, 2018

better lunches with options are needed. also air conditioning in hotel was needed.

By Bonnie B on Feb 19, 2018

Aside from a few items I gave as feedback to Globus about the hotel in Tiberius and the recommended store for shopping in Bethlehem, everything was excellent.

By Trandafir M on Feb 19, 2018

This was my first trip with Globus booked through Affordable Tours. I was very satisfied with the services provided. The communication was flawless, no hidden prices, no "surprises". The schedule was exactly as presented in the package.

By Montford N on Oct 24, 2016

Globus was simply wonderful. The tour was everything that I could have asked for and much, much more. I attribute this to my tour guide and the marvelous people who shared the tour with me. This was expected as I have travelled with Globus before and have been very pleased with them each time. In fact, when I went to Affordable Tours, I requested Globus.

By Holly W on Feb 24, 2014

we loved the trip. I feel it was a good price.

By Laryn D on Apr 28, 2013

No libation at welcome gathering hosted by tour director. The optional Light Show and Middle Eastern Dinner held May 2 was below Globus standards. The Light Show was fine but the dinner that consisted of a salad, beef or chicken kebob, a small slice of watermelon, and Turkish coffee with no music or entertained was a rip- off. The Sabbath dinner at the hotel was above expectations. The farewell dinner with a single glass of wine and below average food was below Globus standard. The item that really irked me was no coffee with the meal. You were asked to go a lower floor for coffee.

By Constance C on May 13, 2012

The whole experience was ~~as smooth and silk~~ and a lot of great memories and just plain fun.  I was very pleased with whole experience
