Medieval fortresses, haunting tales, and countryside traditions are waiting to be discovered on this eight-day Eastern European journey. Begin in the bustling metropolis of Budapest before venturing off the tourist trail to Romania, where medieval villages, churches, and the storied Bran Castle of Dracula fame await. Along the way, top guides help deepen your knowledge of the region.

Day 1: Budapest
Arrive at any time.
Activity: The adventure begins tonight. Feel free to explore before your welcome meeting, but make sure you're back in time to meet the group. Check for the meeting time on the welcome note at the hotel. After introductions, your CEO will review the details of your tour. Please note that normal check-in times apply at our start hotels, but you can usually store your luggage for the day if you arrive early.

Day 2: Budapest
Explore Budapest by embarking on a guided historic tour of the city. Start at Heroes Square and hop on the metro to learn the history of Europe's second oldest underground transportation system. Discover the Opera House, Liberty Square and Chain Bridge, ending at the Great Market Hall with a typical Hungarian lunch. The afternoon is free to explore.
Activity: Explore Hungary's capital city on a guided tour. Discover Budapest like a local and hop on the metro and visit landmarks including Heroes Square, Liberty Square, the Opera House and Chain Bridge.
Free Time: Situated on a beautiful stretch of the Danube, Budapest consists of two parts: Buda and Pest. Buda is the older and more historical part of the city, with old narrow winding streets and medieval buildings. Here you can find Buda's most ancient sights: the Royal Palace, St. Matthias Church, Fisherman's Bastion and Castle Hill with its old town. Across the Danube is grand Pest with its vibrant streets such as Váci Utca, which is the bustling main street of Budapest.

Day 3: Budapest/Cluj-Napoca
Embark on a full-day transfer from Budapest to Cluj-Napoca. Along the way, stop in Egerszalók to visit the Salt Hill terraces. These rare salt springs and water terraces are a great place to stretch our legs or enjoy a picnic.

Activity: Discover naturally formed salt springs and water terraces. Water spouting from these terraces claim to have medicinal benefits helping to alleviate back pain, eczema and musculoskeletal disorders.

Day 4: Cluj-Napoca/Sighișoara
Visit Salina Turda Salt Mine, the world's deepest underground salt museum and marvel at 2,000 years of history and highly preserved galleries. Learn about all the purposes of the mine over the years, from being used as a World War II bomb shelter to becoming a warehouse for storing cheese. From here, head to Sighișoara and enjoy an orientation walk of the old town on arrival.

Activity: Enjoy an exploration of the old town of Sighisoara. Among the impressive sights are the Clock Tower, Scholar's Stairs and the Citadel. In 1431, it is claimed that an unknown woman gave birth to Vlad the Impaler, also known as Dracula, within the shadow of the Clock Tower, adding to the myths and legends that adorn this region.

Day 5: Sighișoarabr/aşov
Transfer to the small medieval village of Medias. Together with a local chef, visit the market to pick out fresh ingredients for your Transylvanian cooking class and learn about the cultural and gastronomical influences found in Transylvanian cuisine. In the afternoon, head to the town of Brasov to visit the famous Black Church.
Activity: Meet a local chef and learn about Transylvanian cuisine while shopping at a local market. Chat with farmers along the way, then head into the kitchen to prepare a traditional meal. A mix of neighboring culture's cuisines and the country's agrarian roots, Romanian food is simple yet hearty and full of flavor.

Activity: The Black Church is the biggest church between Vienna and Istanbul. It's a famous landmark of the town of Brasov, is Romania's leading Gothic church, and has the largest church bell in the country, weighing a hefty 7 tons (6,350 kg)! Explore its beautiful interior, including stained glass windows and its collection of 119 Turkish carpets, the largest in Europe.

Day 6: Braşov
Enjoy a free morning to explore Brasov's baroque architecture and beautiful squares. Later, visit the haunting Bran Castle, also known as Dracula's castle, for a guided visit. Afterwards, head to the castle's tea house for an afternoon tea accompanied by the on-site historian and learn about the castle's eerie past and connection with Dracula.
Free Time: Explore Brașov. The city provides a mix of wonderful mountain scenery and medieval charm. It boasts beautiful baroque architecture and stunning squares, and offers a delightful cable-car ride to the top of Tâmpa Mountain.
Activity: Visit the picturesque Bran Castle, impressively situated on a rock outcrop and dominating the valley. This 14th century castle is steeped in history and folklore and is an unmissable highlight. Sometimes called "Dracula's Castle", it served as a defense point to protect the border between Transylvania and Wallachia. Rumours abound regarding Dracula's interaction with the castle. You'll have to visit to find out the truth.
Activity: Sit down for an afternoon tea ceremony in the tea house at Bran Castle, widely known as Dracula's castle. Learn about the castle's history from a local historian and partake in ghost storytelling at this historic landmark.

Day 7: Braşov/Bucharest
Travel to Bucharest, stopping to visit Snagov Monastery and its intricately painted walls. Dating back to the 14th century, the monastery is believed to hold the remains of Vlad the Impaler. Once in Bucharest, enjoy a walking tour. Opt for a final night out on the town.

Activity: Lake Snagov is home to a popular Romanian holiday resort, with villas dotting the waterfront. Located on an islet on the lake is the historic Snagov monastery. Dating back to the 14th century, the monastery is rumoured to be the last resting place of Vlad the Impaler. Enjoy the views across the lake from here.
