I just returned from Ireland and Scotland - it was wonderful! Everything was beyond expectations: a great Tour Director and driver, wonderful local guides, great tours, meals, etc. It was a great trip and I would like to return there one day.
I was very impressed with this tour. The local tour guides were knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. The hotels, with the exception of the Abbas, were comfortable and provided great service. I was completely satisfied.
There was nothing in the pre trip info that indicated that local guides would be used in every place we stopped, and sometimes more than 1 local guide, and we were expected to tip all of them in addition to the tour guide and driver.
We had a great time and would do it all over again!
I enjoyed my trip overall. The one thing I did not like was that I wasn't able to experience London due to the time I arrived. My other tour mates were able to come earlier and have the full experience. Some even arrived the same day of travel (on the 2nd of Nov). I understand limitations are present but this is something that may be remedied for future tours. I did love it though.
Great tour - London to rome - a bit fast paced with 6 hotels in 9 days, but well worth it to hit the major highlights.
One of the best tour and affordable tours was very helpful when I was planning my trip
On the issue of expected accommodation it was not as expected but I was very pleased. It was very rustic in the back country and that did not bother us at all. In this case it was just right. I really want to say what a fantastic job the tour guide did on this trip. He was excellent and managed to deal with one very difficult customer as best he could. He is also extremely knowledgeable about the region and was a perfect guide for this trip. All in all a great trip. I should also point out that other than the complete inconvenience with the Mexican Border people, the trip went well and there was never a moment when we were concerned about the safety of anyone or the quality of the food.
There was one part of the trip itself that my wife and I did not particularly care for and that was our day at Alice Springs. We found it dull and boring. The tours were boring and there was not much at all to do there otherwise. I would have preferred to spend an extra day at Ayers Rock or Cairns instead of going to Alice Springs.
