Day 3 - Barcelona – Pamplona
Travel to Pamplona, the capital of the old Kingdom of Navarre. The city is famous for the San Fermín festival, commonly known as the Running of the Bulls. See the ancient city walls and Plaza del Castillo, the heart of the city where markets, tournaments and even bullfighting have taken place.Buffet Breakfast, Dinner with wine
Day 4 - Pamplona – San Sebastian – Bilbao – Santander (2 Nights)
Arrive in the city of San Sebastian and see the beautiful Bahia de la Concha beach. San Sebastian is known as the culinary capital of Spain so why not enjoy the local pinchos? Perhaps visit the City Hall, once the home of the casino or the Baroque Basilica of Santa Maria. In Bilbao view the modern Guggenheim Museum designed by architect Frank Gehry. The whole day is free to relax and unwind either with a day at the beach or a walk through the historic centre. Day 6 - Santander -- Picos de Europa – Covadonga – Oviedo
Spectacular scenery awaits today as you travel through the Picos de Europa, a mountain range rich in flora and fauna. The region sits between two main pilgrim routes and has numerous historic market towns. Visit the grotto of 'Our Lady of Covadonga'. Here you also have the chance to visit the basilica made from the pink marble of the surrounding hills. Day 7 - Oviedo – Luarca – Santiago de Compostela (2 Nights)
Hidden on the Asturian coast, Luarca is a quiet village and has managed to preserve its seafaring charm. Later arrive in the pilgrim city of Santiago de Compostela. This, for many people, will be the end of their 'camino'.Buffet Breakfast
Day 8 - Santiago de Compostela Sightseeing
Your Local Specialist will explain the 'Way of St James' and why thousands of people walk here as part of a pilgrimage annually. Visit the vast cathedral and the Praza do Obradoiro, a square dominated by four architectural styles. Why not enjoy an Optional Experience to the Rias Biaxas for breathtaking views of the Galician coast. The region has long waterways stretching inland that are said to be the mark left by God's hand when he cleansed himself after creating the world.Buffet Breakfast
Day 9 - Santiago de Compostela – Zamora – Salamanca
Start the day with a drive through Galicia and the region of Castile-Leon to Zamora, known as a 'museum of Romanesque art'. See the 12th century cathedral with its richly sculptured Bishop's Door and the scaled Dome. Our travel guide was absolutely wonderful and fits the position perfectly. Always courteous and very knowledgable. She took excellent care of us and was very organized.
The trip was about nature and history. It lacked any mention of art - at the least, architecture and sculpture. It would benefit if those topics were included.
The tour was spectacular. The Cooper Canyon was awesome and unbelievable. Our tour guide was well-experienced and knowledgeable. Our accommodations were the best. The local foods that we ate were very delicious.
Trafalgar is an excellent choice for traveling. I already did 2 European tours with them in 6 months and booked my third tour. They are professional and efficient. Traveling with Trafalgar saves time and money. The local experiences they provide make all the difference.

Our travel consultant did an excellent job booking our trip. The flight, airport transfer, and the tour itself was far beyond our expectations.
Everything that was stated came true but it was even better then what I expected.
We loved this trip. We love using Trafalgar because the tour directors are great, the itinerary is well planned out, and they have experiences that are unique, like taking a ride on a horse-drawn wagon (the horse had jingle bells on) through a small town and stopping for pictures on a beautiful little bridge, and then the owner of the horses taking us to his home and providing us with a homemade lunch.
Everything was great in my trip to New Zealand's southern island, the scenery was certainly stunning! I had a good time, all the fellow travelers in the tour was very nice and friendly, and I have found some new friends there! New Zealand is a new country where air is very clean and people are honest and trustworthy welcoming tourists as well as foreigners with open arms. Next time I'd like to go back and see the Northern island of the country.
It's a trip worth taking, but not at all up to the descriptions provided by most travelers. So don't think your socks are going to get knocked off by the scenery seen from the train or the dizzying bridge heights. Maybe I'm jaded because I live in Wash. State and I've taken the Empire Builder (Amtrak) & the Rocky Mountaineer (Canada Rail). So, this trip had some "nice" scenery, and it was interesting to do some real switchbacks, but as for the train portion overall: "meh". Hard to get good camera shots if not on right side of train or unless you camped out (to the detriment of others) on the right side of the in-between sections of the train cars. The train condition was good, the restrooms were clean, and the food was OK. The accommodations on the trip were nice to very-nice, as was the food. You have to realize this is Mexico however -- if you're expecting USA quality throughout then you're going to be one of the complainers the rest of us have to put up with. The hotel on the rim of the canyon was especially nice, with incredible views. The tram ride (into the canyon) was also very scenic. Between the two, it made the trip very worthwhile. The Casas Grandes (Paquime) stop was also very interesting if you like archaeological stuff. Those two things (the canyon stay) & Paquime were kinda the only two things worth seeing on the trip. Not that the rest of it wasn't worth seeing at all -- it was. But those were really the only two stops of significance in my opinion. I'm glad I crossed this trip off my list, but I would not do it again nor recommend it except with the above caveats. This was my first trip with Trafalgar (I've done many other bus tours with other companies). I would recommend them, putting them on the same level as Globus.
Truly professional Tour Director and drivers made the tour memorable. Trafalgar always arrange first class hotel rooms.
The Trafalgar tour guide wasn\'t good as those we had in the past. The itinerary was a bit rushed, covering too great a distance in a short time.
I thought both Affordable Tours and Trafalgar did a great job. Would definitely travel with Trafalgar again and would definitely use Affordable Tours again.
