Hike in some of South Africa's iconic hotspots, spot the "big five" in national parks and reserves, visit local villages and cosmopolitan Cape Town, camp amongst Southern Africa's dramatic scenery, visit three countries in just over two weeks.

This lively tour through South Africa is filled with enough excitement to keep you active and on your feet. Hike up the famous Table Mountain. Explore the kingdoms of Lesotho and Eswatini. Discover the true meaning of "Ubuntu" as you dance and laugh with the locals over a traditional meal in the Kruger area. Whether you get a taste of the beach or the biltong, this 17-day journey will satisfy any craving for adventure.

Day 1: Cape Town
Arrive at any time.
Activity: Your opportunity to meet your CEO and fellow travellers, and learn more about your tour. Opt to join the group for a local meal afterwards. Don't forget to see the notice in the lobby (or ask reception) for the official time and place to meet up with the group.
Accommodation: Inn on the Square (or similar)

Day 2: Cape Town
Enjoy an included hike to the top of Table Mountain, taking in the views of the city bowl, peninsula, and Robben Island. In the evening have dinner at the Waterfront, or one of the great restaurants in the city.
Activity: Hike up one of the world's most recognizable mountains, Table Mountain. Rise early to meet your guide for a transfer to the start of the hike. Wind your way up the mountain, stopping regularly to take in the surrounding views of the city, Atlantic coast, and Table Bay. Take note of the changing vegetation on the mountain - a highlight of this trek. Once reaching the summit there are stunning panoramic views. Make your way down to the base of the mountain via the cable way. Ascent: 700m (2,297 ft)

Day 3: Cape Town/Oudtshoorn
Travel into the Klein Karoo on the famous Route 62. Opt to enjoy a wine tasting along the way.

Day 4: Oudtshoorn/Stormsrivier
Before leaving Oudtshoorn, opt to explore the Cango Caves or visit an ostrich farm. Cross over the Outeniqua Mountains into the Garden Route. Stop at the Bloukrans Bridge for those brave enough to try the bungee jump, and arrive in the forest village of Stormsrivier for the night.

Day 5: Tsitsikamma National Park
Set out on an included hike along the famous Otter Trail, inside the Tsitsikamma National Park. This beautiful coastal trail passes the picturesque suspension bridges, and visits breathtaking waterfalls.
Transport: Settle in and scan the scenery from the convenience of a private vehicle.
Activity: We include the entry fee to Tsitsikamma National Park — now it's your turn to get out and explore it. Be sure to check out the beautiful hiking trails and suspension bridge.
Activity: Lace up and hike the first 6km of the scenic Otter Trail. Follow the shoreline until you come to the waterfall, and return along the same path. Opt to jump in to the pool at the base of the falls for a swim.
Free Time: Get out and explore the area.
Accommodation: Tsitsikamma Village Inn (or similar)

Day 6: Addo Elephant National Park
Enjoy a wildlife safari drive in our vehicle. Be on the watch for elephants and other wildlife. Spend the night camping under the stars.
Transport: Settle in and scan the scenery from the convenience of a private vehicle.
Activity: Embark on a wildlife safari drive in search of resident elephants, rhinos, lions, buffalo, and even leopards. This national park may be most famous for elephants, the rest of its wildlife is fantastic, too.
Meal(s): Breakfast Dinner

Day 7: Addo/Graaff-Reinet
Travel into the vast semi-desert of the Great Karoo and overnight in the town of Graaff-Reinet, just outside the Camdeboo National Park. Opt to hike in the Valley of Desolation for beautiful views over the surrounding area, or explore this quaint Karoo town.

Day 8: Graaff-Reinet/Lesotho
Cross the border into the highest independent state in the world.

Day 9: Lesotho
Enjoy free time in the morning for horseback riding, or mountain biking, through this beautiful mountainous country. In the afternoon hike with a local guide to discover hidden waterfalls, before watching the sun set over "The Kingdom in the Sky'.
Free Time: Get out and explore this beautiful land-locked country.
Activity: One of the most popular hikes in Malealea, the route to Botsoela Falls takes you through varied scenery, and across small ravines, before arriving at the cascading waters. Along the way your guide will tell you all about the local culture, and history of the area.
Accommodation: Malealea Lodge (or similar)

Day 10: Lesotho/Drakensberg
Return to South Africa and set up camp in the foothills of the mountain.

Day 11: Drakensberg
Set off on an included hike along Tugela Gorge in Royal Natal NP.
Activity: Set off on a 23km (14.3 mi) hike along Tugela Gorge in Royal Natal National Park. It is touted by some as the best one-day hike in South Africa for its spectacular scenery of mountains, forest, a river, and a waterfall. Meandering along the Tugela River for 11km (6.8 mi), the path then crosses the river along some boulders and eventually leads to Tugela Falls, debatably the second highest waterfall in the world.

Day 12: Drakensberg/Saint Lucia
Travel through KwaZulu-Natal to Saint Lucia on the coast of Zululand. Opt for a sunset cruise on the Saint Lucia estuary.

Day 13: Saint Lucia

Day 14: Saint Lucia/Eswatini
Cross another border into Eswatini and head for the Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary.

Activity: Visit Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary, a conservation area in the Ezulwini Valley. The sanctuary is home to mountains, plains, and everything in between. It also has a plethora of birds and other animals, including warthogs, crocodiles, hippos, and more.

Day 15: Eswatini/Greater Kruger Area
Continue exploring Mlilwane Sanctuary in the morning, joining your CEO on a walk to see some of the resident wildlife, then cross back into South Africa, and head to our safari camp just outside the famous Kruger National Park.
Activity: Head out on foot to search for some of the species that call Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary home during this guided walk. Get a better feel for the landscape, animals, and birds of Eswatini.

Day 16: Kruger National Park

The Japan vacation was better than I expected!!!! It was an active "moving" trip, which I truly enjoyed. I've done "coach tours" where you sit on the bus and they take you -- this experience was "hands on" riding the buses, trains and running through the streets -- it was amazing !!!!! We got the full feel of Japan and the people. This trip is not for the weak or slow pace crowd - you drag your luggage through the streets, up and down stairs --- it was truly exciting and exhilarating. G adventures has a fan for life.
