Tour Itinerary

This unique vacation gives you a chance to tour stunning Switzerland and enjoy a river cruise on the legendary Rhine River through France, Germany, and Holland.Begin in spectacular Switzerland, where you'll enjoy the country’s beautiful mountains and lakes—with overnights in Zürich, Geneva, the Gruyère area, the Interlaken area, and Lucerne. The highlight of this tour is the time spent in the Interlaken area. The town is nestled between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz and surrounded by three mighty mountains: Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau. From Interlaken, Globus has arranged an unforgettable rack railway trip to the "Top of Europe," a high alpine wonderland of ice and snow. Here, at the amazing Jungfraujoch, Europe's highest railway station at 11,332 feet, you can experience an audiovisual journey through the alpine world; stand on the observation platform to view the glaciers; and witness a panoramic view overlooking France, Germany, and Italy. A truly unforgettable experience! Also, visit the magnificent castle in Gruyères and walk through eight centuries of architecture, history, and culture. Geneva, Switzerland's most international and second-largest city, offers a fantastic lakeside setting and breathtaking panoramas of the Alps. Here, you'll have guided sightseeing of the city and a visit to the Reformation Park. Enjoy a chocolate tasting at the famous Maison Cailler in Broc; and stop in Gstaad, one of Switzerland's most famous skiing resorts and a popular destination for international celebrities. In Lucerne, enjoy a guided walking tour that includes the Lion Monument and Chapel Bridge.Embark on your river cruise in Basel, Switzerland, and head for Breisach, Germany. Here, you’ll find the gateway to Germany’s Black Forest, an area of unrivaled natural beauty, and home to Black Forest ham, cherry cake, and the cuckoo clock. In Strasbourg, France, be amazed by the red-sandstone gothic cathedral with ancient murals and the fascinating astronomical clock. Stroll through the lovely La Petite France district with its quaint shops, delightful bistros, and peaceful waterfront promenade. Visit the ruins of Heidelberg’s castle, towering magnificently over the city, and stop in Mainz for a guided walk and a visit to the captivating Gutenberg Museum. Holland’s popular, modern capital of Amsterdam, offers world-famous museums and an abundance of restaurants amongst the classic architecture and charming canals. Disappointed by this trip. Except for the trip to Jungfrau, nothing was "spectacular." Most of the other more interesting activities came from the optional excursions. Our guide was more of a director for getting people from one place to another. His commentaries were not lively and often not interesting. At times, other members of my tour group found the information given to be inaccurate. For many stops, the information given was here's where to go shopping and here's where to find the Migros supermarket where you can eat good food for less money. We went back to Zurich at the end for an extension; our public tour guide took us to so many more sites in the old town and taught us so much more than our Globus guide. Our optional tour to Mt Pilatus was on a rainy, foggy day. There was no option to cancel. The rides were interesting but the views were nonexistent - disappointing. We took the optional extra 2 days at the end of the tour. Unlike some other companies, no local contact was provided and no arrangements were offered for getting back to the airport at the end of our extended trip. We had to learn to fend for ourselves. Additionally, we arrived early on the first day and our email asking for suggestions for what to do in Zurich went unanswered. We booked with Globus based on reputation and an earlier trip. After this one, I'm very hesitant to use them again.

Had a wonderful tour. The hotels were all located close to the downtown area. As a solo traveller I always had a nice comfortable and well located room in each hotel. The guide and driver were caring and very responsible. The itinerary was superb. Everywhere we stopped had interesting points and we were given enough time to see the town or event/ The stops were well planned so that we didn't waste time. The little "surprises" or extras such as a free minibar, a parting gift, a cap souvenir, a drink included, were all appreciated. Very enjoyable trip. This was my first Globus tour and I would very much recommend it. I plan to look into another trip with them.

We we're hoping for a great trip and we got one. Switzerland was magnificent and far exceeded our expectations.

Only issue was the legroom on the bus was rather limited much less than we have experienced on othe globus tours. My husband and I had to seperate as he had to sit sideways One of the teasinscwe choose globus is because the advertise more comfortable busses

I very much enjoy conducting business with MS Allyson because of her experience and efficiency. She is very knowledgeable and I am happy to do business with her again as well as recommend to my family and friends.

We disagree about the consistency in value and quality of the accommodation, we understood that all the accommodations are first class from my travel agent. From the five hotels we stayed in, only 2 were, 5 stars, the rest were 3 stars hotels. Dinner in most of the restaurants we paid extra for, was not up to par, we wouldn't give more than one star. the quality of meat was the cheapest kind, another point to mention is that we felt we were rushed having dinner the waiters literally grabbed the plates from our table. We were on vacation we wanted to relax. We would love to book another tour, overall, we had a fantastic experience.

All the staff members were very nice and good for the job

Our tour director Eric was very knowledge and professional. Franco was an amazing driver, manuvering through the narrow streets and of European ciries and the Apline mountains. Trip is well organized but quite exhausting consider the number of cities to be visited in a weeks time. I believe there are too many optional excurisons and they are quite expemsive also.

Tour guide was very knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. He was committed to having everything arranged for us. He also told us a lot about the things we were seeing and Switzerland's economy, politics, and people in general. The local guides were very knowledgeable about the places they took us in Geneva and Berne. The bus driver was professional, courteous, and an excellent driver. The bus unfortunately broke down, but the driver did a great job assessing the problem and quickly getting the necessary support from the bus company.

The Globus "Spectacular Switzerland" trip lived up to it's name. It was a round trip through many wonderful parts of Switzerland (and a little of France), and each stop had unique and interesting sights, adventures, and experiences. The trip matched the advertised features. The booking process through Affordable Tours was painless. The agent was exceptional and supported every aspect of the process. To have a good experience on an escorted tour like this requires a good tour director. The director on this trip was absolutely outstanding!
