Following the lead of their neighbours Croatia and Greece, Montenegro and Albania are emerging as some of the most exciting destinations in Europe. This 8-day small ship adventure cruise offers a fascinating insight into the past and the region's rich cultural diversity. The best way to experience the Balkans is from the shimmering waters of the Adriatic Sea. Board the M/S Panorama, which offers the highest standard of accommodation, comfort and safety, and cruise from the iconic city walls of Dubrovnik to the romantic and evocative Old Town of Korcula. Turn south for Montenegro, home to pristine natural landscapes and rustic towns oozing old-Europe charm. Continue the voyage to Greece, stopping at the olive-groved island of Paxos and the Ionian Islands' Grand Lady, Corfu. In Saranda, Albania, find a slice of the Riviera, then dock near the secluded bay of 5th-century Kotor. Refreshing swim stops, local wine tastings and fortified towns, this Adriatic adventure has all the ingredients for a memorable journey.
Day 1: Embarkation in Dubrovnik
Embarkation will take place between 3 and 4pm. Settle in and meet your crew and fellow passengers and enjoy a welcome dinner. Overnight will be at port in Dubrovnik
Day 2: Korcula Island, Croatia
We sail early heading for Korcula. Enjoy a refreshing morning swim stop near Korcula * before arriving at Korcula port in the afternoon. There will be an optional walking tour of this magnificent town. Our guide will explain why the Old Town of Korčula is a masterwork of architecture and urban planning. The layout of the town streets resembles a fishbone in order to take advantage of the different winds, like a natural air conditioning system. Korcula is also known as the birthplace of the famous world traveller Marco Polo whose alleged birth place is right in the heart of the Old Town. Or you may wish to take an optional tour around Korcula town, and to the village of Lumbarda for a wine tasting.Overnight we sail to Budva in Montenegro.
Day 3: Budva, Montenegro
Morning arrival at the well-preseved medieval town of Budva. After breakfast, take an optional sightseeing excursion to Old Budva. After arrival to Budva we have a short walk to the Old Town, which lies on a little island that was linked to the land by a sandbar and in time turned into a peninsula. It is surrounded by ramparts originating from the XV century including a medieval fortification system with city gates, defense walls and towers. Inside the walls the town is a combination of narrow streets and little squares with monuments of different Mediterranean cultures that marked its development. Today Budva is a center of tourism and a city of theatre, festivals and celebrations.Overnight at sea sailing Saranda, Albania.
Day 4: Corfu, Greece
Early morning arrival to the charming town of Saranda, boasting the most attractive waterfront on the Albanian Riviera. Join the optional excursion to the nearby archaeological site of Butrint or enjoy a relaxing swim. After midday, sailing to Corfu, Greece. Afternoon arrival at Corfu, Clearance and afternoon optional excursion at Corfu island.
Day 5: Paxos, Greece
Early morning sailing to Antipaxi island, for a refreshing swim stop and a BBQ lunch on board. This afternoon arrive in the unique port of Paxos. Overnight in port.
Day 6: Corfu, Greece
Early morning sailing to Corfu, the Grand Lady of the Ionian Islands and the greenest island in Greece. Morning optional excursion to explore Corfu’s imperial past, the impressive historic centre declared UNESCO World Heritage site and the byzantine churches, or to take a scenic tour through the lush Corfiot countryside and old high hill villages. Early afternoon sailing to Kotor, Montenegro. Overnight at sea.
Day 7: Kotor, Montenegro
Early morning navigation in the Bay of Kotor, the deepest natural fjord in the Mediterranean. Take a refreshing swim in the bay or join the optional excursion. This walking tour is perfect to get to know Kotor's medieval quarter, its bustling market and beautiful Renaissance buildings. The well preserved fortified walls of Kotor were built by a Venetian in 1420 and continued being strengthened until the 18th century. Enclosing the whole Old town, the 5 km long walls formed an unique fortification project which could resist attacks from the sea and survive long sieges. Our tour includes a visit to Cathedral of St. Tryphon which was constructed in 1166 and built on the remains of a former temple from the 9th ct. We will see the remains from 14th ct frescos and the valuable treasury with both local and Venetian golden works (14th- 20th century).After the sightseeing tour you can walk back to the pier or enjoy free time on your own.Late night sailing to Dubrovnik.
Day 8: Disembarkation in Dubrovnik, Croatia
Early morning arrival in Dubrovnik. Disembarkation will take place after breakfast between 8 - 9am.
- This itinerary is a little special: unlike most Croatia cruises, it also includes stops in Albania, Montenegro and Greece. You’re getting four countries in eight days.
- We’ll sail as far south as Corfu, the ‘Grand Lady’ of the Ionian Islands and the greenest island in all of Greece. Take a short walk through the UNESCO heritage city centre.
- While large cruise liners have to moor out at sea and commute into shore via tender, we drop anchor in the middle of port towns like Saranda or Korcula. You can hop on or off the boat as you please.
- There’s nothing like diving into the aquamarine waters of the Adriatic Coast. Weather permitting, our captain will be stopping the ship for regular swim breaks during the trip, particularly around Bar and Kotor.
- This itinerary includes a special trip to Saranda on the Albanian Riviera. We’ve also organised an optional excursion to the archaeological site of Butrint on the Straits of Corfu.
