Day 1: Arrive Hanoi, Vietnam

Arrive in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, and transfer to yourcolonial-style hotel.

Day 2: Hanoi

Hanoi is the country’s cultural heart, bearing traces ofcenturies of changing dynasties. Visit Ho Chi Minh’s house,a simple structure that served as home to the revolutionaryguerrilla leader. After lunch, visit the infamous “HanoiHilton” prison, where American prisoners of war were onceconfined. Ride Like a Local by cyclo through the city’s OldQuarter. This evening, gather with your fellow guests for awelcome dinner.

Day 3: Ha Long Bay

Travel to Hai Phong, where you board ‘Orchid’ for a cruise ofpicturesque Ha Long Bay. Relax on deck as ‘Orchid’ snakesher way past countless islets, their striking karsts (limestoneformations) rising dramatically from the emerald waters.Disembark on Cat Ba Island and discover Trung Trang Cave’sintricate features, formed over millennia. Back on board‘Orchid,’ view the sunset framed against the Gulf of Tonkinshoreline. Later, join a Chef ’s Table demonstration featuringtraditional Vietnamese cuisine, followed by dinner aboard.

Day 4: Ha Long Bay & Ho Chi Minh City

Greet the day on deck with sunrise tai chi overlooking thebay. Set out for an early morning kayak excursion amongthe towering limestone pinnacles. Return for brunch onboard as ‘Orchid’ sails home to port in Hai Phong. Back onterra firma, enjoy an orientation tour of this important portcity, proceed to Hang Kenh Temple and take in a local waterpuppet show. Later, transfer to Hanoi and fly to Ho Chi MinhCity, the former Saigon, where you settle in at your hotel.

Day 5: Ho Chi Minh City

Recently experiencing a resurgence of art and culture, HoChi Minh City is a lively, evocative hub of activity. Rise earlyfor a cyclo ride through the streets, as the city slowly comesto life. Stroll through a special section of Tao Dan Park wherelocals congregate with their prized birds and the air is alivewith birdsong. Next, visit the memorial park dedicated to aBuddhist monk remembered for performing self-immolationin protest of the South Vietnamese government in 1963. Changing from cyclo to vehicle, continue along Nguyen DinhChieu Street to visit a little-known, hard-to-find weaponsbunker, as well as a food market and flower market. Thensample some of the city’s most sensational pho at one ofits best-kept-secret restaurants. Return to your hotel toenjoy the rest of the morning at leisure. This afternoon,view examples of the city’s colonial legacy, including theReunification Palace and the Central Post Office. Tonight,gather for dinner at a local culinary hot spot.

Day 6: Ho Chi Minh City

Today, explore the Cu Chi Tunnels, learning how theVietcong used this vast subterranean network to concealand support a stealthy underground fighting force. Thisafternoon, enjoy one of these Design Your Day activities.

Visit the War Remnants Museum to view photographsfrom Bunyo Ishikawa, a Vietnam War photojournalist.

Explore the City’s Bustling Culinary Scene, samplingtraditional dishes prepared by local street food vendors.

Stroll Ben Thanh Market & Craft Boutiques to discover the latest in trendy shops and local market life.
