Arrive in Porto and transfer to your hotel. Balance of the day is at leisure to explore Portugal’s second largest city. In the evening, meet your Tour Manager and fellow travelers and enjoy a Welcome Dinner and orientation meeting on the sensational journey that lies ahead

DAY 3, Tuesday - Porto City Tour
Today, enjoy a sightseeing tour of Porto with a local guide. Take a panoramic drive to the mouth of the Douro River, and visit the Church of Sao Francisco and the Stock Exchange, renowned for its exquisite neoclassical façade and ornate gilded Arabian Hall. Finish the tour with a visit to a Port Wine Cellar for a tasting. Spend the balance of the day at leisure or choose to participate in the optional Douro River Cruise with local meal. Cruise along the colorful river valley, viewing the city from a new perspective. Pass by the numerous port wine cellars and under the magnificent bridges crossing the valley. Afterwards, a meal of local specialties in a typical restaurant with drinks is included

DAY 4, Wednesday - Full Day in Porto
Spend a full day at leisure to explore this UNESCO World Heritage city or choose to join the optional Medieval Portugal tour. Start with the town of Guimaraes for a walk through the medieval alleys. Then, head inland to the heart of Minho province to the former Roman ‘Bracara Augusta’. Here, drive to the top of the 1,300 foot high hill of Bom Jesus, from where you can overlook the city of Braga and admire the famous Holy Way staircase, the most popular place of pilgrimage in the north of Portugal. Savor a delicious lunch before returning to the hotel

DAY 5, Thursday - Coimbra, Fatima, Drive to Tomar
This morning, drive south through the Buçaco National Park to Coimbra, the third-largest city in Portugal, to visit the University of Coimbra, among the oldest universities in Europe, with more than 700 years of history. In the afternoon, drive to Fatima*, one of the most important Catholic shrines in the world dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Its Sanctuary welcomes millions of pilgrims from all over the world. Fatima's fame is due to the Apparitions of Our Lady of the Rosary that appeared to three shepherd children in 1917. Here, visit the great Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary built in neoclassical style, flanked by colonnades linking it with the extensive convent. Continue your journey to Tomar, one of Portugal’s historical jewels for dinner and overnight*For 26 Apr departure, Fatima visit is moved to Day 6

DAY 6, Friday - Convent of Christ, Castelo de Vide, Drive to Evora
Start the day with a visit to the hilltop Convent of Christ* with its famous Manueline window. Later, drive south and cross the Tagus river. Stop in Castelo de Vide and enjoy a stroll through the old Jewish Quarter. Here you can find one of the oldest synagogues in the country, although all that remains is one modest little room. Stop at a cork factory to learn about how cork is harvested from the bark of a tree and processed into one of Portugal's major exports. Continue to Evora for dinner and overnight*For 26 Apr departure, visit to the Convent of Christ is moved to Day 5

DAY 7, Saturday - Evora City Tour
This morning, take a guided tour of Evora. Discover the town's massive walls and Roman Temple, early Gothic Cathedral, and Sao Francisco Church that is famous for its Ossuary chapel, whose walls are decorated with thousands of human bones and skulls. Head on to see Evora’s main square, the Praça do Giraldo, and the cobbled streets of this former Royal town. Later, continue to Lisbon, one of the oldest cities in Europe, over 2,000 years old, and capital of Portugal since 1147. Tonight attend the optional Fado Dinner. Travel to one of Lisbon’s oldest districts and join one of the popular performances of local songs, accompanied by a gentle guitar playing Portuguese melodies. Enjoy dinner with wine before a brief drive through the illuminated city

DAY 8, Sunday - Lisbon City Tour
In Lisbon, the tour begins with a stop at the top of Edward VII’s Park to enjoy a magnificent view over the hills of Lisbon and the River Tagus. Next, view the treasured 16th century Belem Tower, a monument to Portugal's Age of Discovery and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Continue to visit the Jeronimos Monastery, an impressive symbol of the country’s power and wealth and resting place of explorer Vasco da Gama. Time for lunch on your own in this delightful setting before an afternoon at leisure. Perhaps join the optional tour to quaint Sintra, the "Glorious Eden" of Lord Byron, and summer retreat of the royal court, highlighted by lavish romantic castles and stunning monuments. Visit the Sintra Royal Palace, a 15th-century royal residence, containing one of the largest tile collections in Portugal. Then enjoy some free time in the Village Historical Center before returning to Lisbon

DAY 9, Monday - Full Day in Lisbon's Countryside
Enjoy a full day excursion to explore the countryside around Lisbon. The first stop on the northbound journey is medieval Obidos, with its historic center, and a labyrinth of cobblestone streets, whitewashed houses, and beautiful vistas. Continue to Alcobaça to visit the Church of Santa Maria Monastery. It was the first building in Portugal to adopt the Gothic style and is the largest church in the country. See the decorated tombs of King Pedro I and his lover Inês de Castro. Lastly, stop at the charming fishing harbor of Nazaré before heading back to Lisbon. Tonight, savor a delectable dinner of Portuguese specialties at a local restaurant

DAY 10, Tuesday - Travel to Seville
This morning, meet your new Tour Manager for Spain and head south. Cross the region of Alentejo, with its rolling hills, vineyards and cork oak trees. After dinner, opportunity to attend an optional Flamenco Show in Seville, known as the birthplace of Flamenco

DAY 11, Wednesday - Seville City Tour

Continue with a visit to the Cathedral of Seville, the largest Gothic cathedral in the world and legendary burial site of Christopher Columbus. The rest of the day is at leisure or, join the fascinating optional tour to Cordoba, founded by the Romans. Visit the astonishing Mezquita de Cordoba, one of the largest mosques in the world, transformed into a soaring cathedral in the 16th century. Here you can see the historic stables and museum along with displays of famous Matadors before proceeding to the Costa del Sol

Spend a full day at leisure in Costa del Sol to enjoy all of the delights of this resort area or, join the optional morning tour to Malaga, the birthplace of Pablo Picasso. Visit the Picasso Museum with over 285 works donated by members of Picasso’s family. View the Paseo de la Alameda, Paseo del Parque & the Barrio de la Malagueta. A walking tour through this historical town is accented by views of the Malaga Cathedral, the second highest in southern Spain. Head over to Cathedral Square before returning to Torremolinos. DAY 14, Saturday - Excursion to Gibraltar
Journey to the impressive Rock of Gibraltar,* a British Colony for over 300 years standing guard over the Strait of Gibraltar, where the Atlantic meets the Mediterranean and Europe meets Africa. Take a tour of the area with minibuses climbing up to see St. Michael's Cave and the famous Barbary apes with dramatic views of both the Spanish and Moroccan coastline. Spend some time in the main street of town with its colonial buildings and duty-free shops. Return to the Costa del Sol for overnight*Gibraltar is a British Overseas Territory independent from Spain and therefore has different entry requirements. DAY 15, Sunday - Moorish Influenced Alhambra
Depart the southern coast and journey to Moorish Granada. Your visit is highlighted by a tour of the 13th century Alhambra,* one of Spain’s most celebrated monuments, dramatically perched atop Assabica Hill overlooking the entire city. This imposing hilltop fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of the world’s finest examples of Moorish art and architecture. During the reign of the Moors, the Alhambra served as the residence of the royal family. Walk along the lanes of the serene Generalife Gardens with its beautifully designed courtyards, waterfalls and ponds, and views of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Tonight, dinner together at a local restaurant *Alhambra visiting times, which may include evening hours, and which areas of the complex are accessible on the day of your visit, are determined solely at the discretion of the Alhambra.
