Tour Itinerary

  1. Day 1
    ARRIVE IN NAIROBI, KENYA.
Welcome to Africa! Hotel rooms are available for mid-afternoon check-in.
  2. Day 2
    NAIROBI.
Start your PRIVATE SIGHTSEEING with a visit to the SHELDRICK ELEPHANT ORPHANAGE, founded and managed by Daphne Sheldrick. Here, you will learn about elephant conservation and meet elephant calves, orphaned by poachers, before they are re-introduced to the wild. Next, visit the KAREN BLIXEN MUSEUM, dedicated to the author of Out of Africa. Lastly, stop at the GIRAFFE CENTER, a non-profit organization focused on saving the Rothschild’s giraffe, where you will learn about this sub-species and have the opportunity to feed them. (B,L)
    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
  3. Day 3
    NAIROBI–MAASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE AREA.
Today, drive to MAASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE, Kenya’s most famous game area. Stop for lunch en route before embarking on your first GAME DRIVE in search of the “Big 5”—lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and Cape buffalo. (B,L,D)
    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
  4. Day 4
    MAASAI MARA.
Today, your Driver/Guide pilots you on MORNING & AFTERNOON GAME DRIVES in the “Mara,” as it is called by the locals. Part of the Serengeti ecosystem, it boasts a strong permanent population of game. When the Great Migration of wildebeest and zebra arrives, generally between August and early November, the population enlarges by almost 2 million. This provides a great food source for predators such as lion, leopard, and hyena. Between game drives, take advantage of leisure time to relax. (B,L,D)

    NOTE:
The Great Migration is a natural event, and the arrival/departure of the migrating herds varies slightly year to year.
    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
  5. Day 5
MAASAI MARA AREA–NAIROBI–AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK AREA.
After breakfast, board a plane for the quick flight to Nairobi. After a short break, drive to AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK, best known for spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa at some 19,341 feet. Embark on an AFTERNOON GAME DRIVE before settling in at your lodge or camp. (B,L,D)
    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
  6. Day 6
    AMBOSELI AREA.
Today features MORNING & AFTERNOON GAME DRIVES. Amboseli offers you a great opportunity to get close to the mighty elephant. You might also spot Cape buffalo, zebra, wild dog, and more. Relax between game drives. (B,L,D)
    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
  7. Day 7
AMBOSELI AREA–ARUSHA, TANZANIA–LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK AREA.
This morning, cross the border into Tanzania. After lunch in Arusha, proceed to your lodge along the rim of the Great Rift Valley escarpment. Check-in and enjoy some leisure time prior to dinner. (B,L,D)
    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
  8. Day 8
    LAKE MANYARA AREA–NGORONGORO CONSERVATION AREA.
After breakfast, embark on a MORNING GAME DRIVE in LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK. This small park is ecologically diverse, with groundwater forests, grassy plains, and alkaline Lake Manyara itself. Watch for elephant, Cape buffalo, giraffe, and more. The park is also home to the world’s largest concentration of baboon. Then, drive to beautiful Gibb’s Farm for a relaxing lunch featuring sumptuous farm-to-table cuisine. Afterward, continue to the NGORONGORO CONSERVATION AREA for the night. (B,L,D)
    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
  9. Day 9
    NGORONGORO AREA.
Today, enjoy a FULL-DAY GAME DRIVE in Ngorongoro Crater. The crater is technically the world’s largest unflooded caldera—at more than 2,000 feet deep with a floor covering over 102 square miles. Game viewing here is fantastic, as most of the animals stay in this area year round. You can see lion, Cape buffalo, hippo, elephant, and flamingo. This is also your best chance to see the rare black rhinoceros. A picnic lunch will be served in the crater. (B,L,D)
    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
  10. Day 10
    NGORONGORO AREA–SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK.
Today, drive to SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK, Tanzania’s largest and most famous park. Home to the annual Great Migration of wildebeest and zebra, generally between late November and July, it attracts visitors from around the world and is great for game viewing year round. Enjoy lunch and some down time prior to your AFTERNOON GAME DRIVE. (B,L,D)

    NOTE:
The Great Migration is a natural event, and the arrival/departure of the migrating herds varies slightly year to year.
    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
  11. Day 11
    SERENGETI.
The Serengeti covers an area of roughly 5,700 square miles, so it is no surprise that the name comes from the Maasai word siringit, meaning “endless plains.” Continue exploring this vast park during MORNING & AFTERNOON GAME DRIVES. Search for leopard, rhino, and an abundance of other animals, including cheetah, giraffe, gazelle, and eland. (B,L,D)
    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
  12. Day 12
    SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK.
Explore this vast park further on MORNING & AFTERNOON GAME DRIVES both days. In addition to the “Big 5,” you may spot cheetah, giraffe, warthog, gazelle, eland, and much more! Enjoy time to relax between game drives. (B,L,D daily)
  13. Day 13
    SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK.
Explore this vast park further on MORNING & AFTERNOON GAME DRIVES both days. In addition to the “Big 5,” you may spot cheetah, giraffe, warthog, gazelle, eland, and much more! Enjoy time to relax between game drives. (B,L,D daily)
  14. Day 14
    SERENGETI–ARUSHA–HOMEBOUND FLIGHT.
This morning, fly back to Arusha, where your vacation ends. We have reserved a day room at the Mount Meru Hotel for you to use prior to your homebound flight. Book homebound flights after 5 pm. (B)

Hygiene and Safety Protocols for Monograms Tours

Today's world has changed, but what remains certain is Monograms' commitment to guest safety, comfort and peace-of-mind while traveling with us. To that end, Monograms has established a worldwide Assurance program, with enhanced on-trip protocols and procedures, to ensure the health – and happiness – of guests throughout their travels with us.

It all starts with Monograms' Global Health & Safety Team, dedicated to ensuring that cleanliness of all operations exceeds today’s travel standards—from start to finish. The following areas address Monograms' commitment to providing a safe and clean environment for guests.

A SAFE & WARM WELCOME

Monograms will enact new tour check-in procedures and pre-trip health screenings to offer guests a safe start to their journey, including adherence to social distancing requirements.

BLENDING CULTURAL PROXIMITY WITH SOCIAL DISTANCE

Monograms will ensure safe distances for guests throughout the journey, on coach and during excursions. This includes providing masks for guests use at any time where social proximity could be an issue as well as the possibility of reducing group sizes, if required. And wireless listening technology – including Monograms' Go Beyond Devices in Europe – enables safe distances between guests and other travelers on excursions.

FOCUS ON GUEST AND TEAM MEMBER HEALTH

To ensure a healthy environment for team and guests, Monograms will conduct regular temperature checks for both guests and team, and when necessary, masks will be worn by Monograms' team members when with guests.

TOUCHING HEARTS, NOT HANDS

Traveling with Monograms removes many of the “touch points” of travel, including luggage handling, check in/out, expedited entry into attractions and more. Monograms are further reducing risk with hands-free service, meaning all self-services replaced by staff, including buffet meals replaced with table service. Monograms will also ensure hand sanitizing is available throughout each trip, on coach and in hotels.

COMMITMENT TO CLEAN

As a part of Monograms' commitment to clean, Monograms is requiring enhanced cleaning procedures with hotel partners, on motorcoaches, vehicles and throughout every trip, including additional daily disinfecting procedures that go above-and-beyond already strict health and safety procedures.

PARTNERS IN DISCOVERY AND IN HEALTH

Monograms has strict health and safety protocols, which have been in place for years, focused on ensuring all aspects of operation- from vehicles and equipment used on trip to excursions and hotel procedures. This process will continue with new, elevated health and safety checks, to maintain their promise that each touch-point on tours and cruises are considered in their commitment to guest and team member well-being.

It was an amazing trip with fantastic local guides in every location.

Excellent services, reliable, informative, friendly

Our trip was wonderful. Everything that was offered was provided. The local hosts were great and professional.

The travel consultants are knowlegeable about tour details and do a great job matching customer needs with the right tour.

Monograms was just the right mix for us. City tours and transportation were great - but we enjoyed the flexibility of going out and seeing what we wanted to see at our own pace.

Outstanding service and organized. Would recommend to anyone.

I wouldn't change a thing. From start to finish-professional advice and detailed explanation of what to expect-a great adventure!

The Monograms local host system worked like clockwork. They were there as scheduled and took the worry out of flight, hotel, and tour transfers.

A trip that I found to be a nightmare to try and plan on my own was made so easy by having Marianne take charge and make all of the arrangements. I had been searching on line, had met with a local travel agent, and was overwhelmed and really getting nowhere. I was ready to give up on my trip planning, stumbled across finding Marianne, and suddenly she made the seemingly impossible happen with no problems! Without her expertise guiding me along and handling the arrangements, I have no doubt that this trip would not have happened. As for the trip: Monograms did a superb job with putting their package together. It more than exceeded my expectations. this will undoubtedly rank as one of my best trips EVER.

Monograms was fantastic. We were independant and did not use them for many of the excursions but they were very helpful for first day orientation, suggestions and were available throughout for any questions. The included half day tours were very good. If you wanted to have everything arranged for you instead of being independant there were many good excursions to choose from.

Very well organized tour, knowledgeable guides. Have a wonderful time.

Monograms was wonderful! Everything was just as they promised. The travel was easy, there were no surprises, it was a stress-free vacation! Having the local host available was great. They were all valuable.

This is our third trip booked with Trena through Affordable Tours using the Globus company. The trip went off without a single glitch from flights to airport transfers to hotel.

Monograms, for the most part, was great We loved the "independent tour" format which gave us much more flexibility with our time in each place we visited. The local hosts were great-some better for us than others--but very helpful. The city tours which were provided varied in quality but usually gave a good overview of the city. A couple of our hotels were not as good as others (construction in progress, smaller rooms or breakfast not as comprehensive) but all were clean and adequate. Two of our flights were changed by the airlines, but the transportation contracted by Monograms did not get the change (schedule change occurred weeks before we left the US for our trip) so did not arrive to take us to the airport. Thank goodness for Uber!

The hotels were wonderful, I can't complain about that.
