Welcome to Chile! Transfer to your hotel in the energetic capital city of Santiago. The rest of the day is at leisure to rest and relax. Tonight, attend an orientation meeting with your Tour Manager on the extraordinary journey that lies ahead, followed by a Welcome Drink and Dinner with your fellow travelers

DAY 3 - Santiago City Tour
This morning's city tour takes you through the colonial neighborhoods of the city that contrasts with the modern financial center, known as Sanhattan. Pass by beautiful residences that are part of the Barrio Universitario (University Area). In the historical center visit the lively Plaza de Armas square, with its fountains, sculptures and palm trees. The tour continues with a drive along the green Parque Forestal with its stunning Fine Arts Museum. Continue crossing the bohemian neighborhood of Bellavista and climbing up San Cristóbal Hill to a viewpoint, for magnificent panoramic views of the city with its backdrop of the towering Andes Mountains. This afternoon, join the optional excursion to the Undurraga Winery in the Maipo Valley, one of Chile's most important wine producing areas. Taste some of Chile's world-famous wines during the tour before returning to Santiago

DAY 4 - Flight to Punta Arenas, Embarkation on the Antarctica Cruise
This morning, fly to Punta Arenas, the thriving capital city of Chile's southernmost region, at the edge of the Strait of Magellan. Your expedition ship, the MS Amundsen is in port waiting for your arrival. After a warm welcome by the Captain and crew, time to settle in and get acquainted with your new surroundings. Tonight, a Welcome Dinner celebrates the beginning of your extraordinary voyage of discoveryAt final payment date, you will receive a medical form that must be completed by a physician and turned into reception upon embarkation.

DAY 5 - Strait of Magellan, Patagonia, Beagle Channel
Your adventure starts at the Strait of Magellan, named for the Portuguese seafarer who discovered this southern passage. You navigate these waters that separate mainland South America and Tierra del Fuego, continuing through Patagonia, one of the world’s most remote and undisturbed places – the scenery will leave you breathless! The expedition team on board point out the region's wildlife, including seals who share the frigid waters with penguins and humpback whales. The extensive onboard program is staffed by experts always prepared to answer your questions and enhance your understanding of this amazing region. Sailing through the region of Magellanes, with its beautiful forests, islands, fjords, and icefields, you reach the Beagle Channel. DAY 6 - Cape Horn to Drake Passage
Plan to go ashore on Cape Horn, conditions permitting, to explore this deserted and yet romantic piece of land at the end of the world - the southernmost point of Chile and South America. This region is of great significance because of its strategic location. Journey southward to reach the infamous Drake Passage* where the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans meet. Once an important trade route, this 600-mile-wide band of water is named after Sir Francis Drake, the 16th-century explorer who sailed these waters. Here, the warm waters from the north meet cold waters from the south, resulting in an ocean rich in nutrients that supports the prolific marine. In the evening after dinner, watch documentaries, join the lectures and enjoy informal chats with fellow travelers and the crew*The Drake Passage is known for its rough waters

DAY 7 - Crossing the Drake Passage
Crossing the legendary Drake Passage is indeed an unforgettable experience! As you cruise, there’ll be several enriching lectures on various topics ranging from history to wildlife in preparation for your visit to Antarctica. Approaching Antarctica, you’ll be informed about current guidelines for visiting this vulnerable environment. It is also important to note that the Antarctic Treaty System regulates international relations with respect to Antarctica, Earth's only continent without a native human population. From the deck, view numerous species of seabirds, whales, dolphins, seals, albatross and more. Wildlife is plentiful here in this starkly beautiful area

DAY 8 - South Shetland Islands
When land is spotted for the first time, you’ll know you have reached the spectacular wilderness of the South Shetland Islands. This impressive group of islands, lying to the north and roughly parallel to the Antarctic Peninsula, is a haven for wildlife. Here, observe vast penguin rookeries, Antarctic fur seals, and wallowing southern elephant seals. The exploration of these sub-Antarctic islands includes a hike (weather and conditions permitting) at crescent-shaped Half Moon Island, to a view point that is a popular place to look for whales in the bay facing towards the Bransfield Strait. At lunar-like Deception Island, sail into the natural harbor of this volcanic island and view the abandoned whaling station known as Hektor. Enjoy staggering panoramas of sheer cliffs rising from the sea and snow covered peaks - surely a highlight of the dayThe itinerary and activities over the coming days are subject to weather and ice conditions with the route and shore landings communicated by regularly scheduled briefings.

DAY 9 - South Shetland Islands
The South Shetland chain of Islands, with its breathtaking mountainous views and looming glaciers, is completely ice covered. Today, sail into Yankee Harbor, a base for early sealers because of its remarkable natural haven. The main attraction here is the Gentoo penguin terraced colony with its over 4,000 breeding pairs. Yankee Harbor offers spectacular views across the McFarlane Strait to Livingston Island and out into the Bransfield Strait, a common feeding spot for whales. On board, there are lectures, scientific experiments and astonishing views from the deck

DAY 10 - Antarctic Peninsula
Arrive in the amazing "White Continent" of Antarctica, stretching across ice-covered desert and mountains for over five million square miles. Antarctica is truly unlike anything you have ever experienced. On the approach to the Antarctic Convergence, the air slowly becomes crisper and colder. Antarctic penguins begin to appear in the water and the first icebergs drift by. Be prepared for an incomparable discovery of Antarctica with your experienced expedition leaders. In the upcoming days, adventures with your expedition leaders await you in this pristine wilderness with towering mountains of ice as far as the eye can see. DAY 11 - Antarctic Peninsula
Every day you awaken in a magical glacial wonderland. The landscapes here have remained as awe-inspiring and untouched as the day man first set eyes upon them in this coldest, driest, highest and cleanest continent on Earth. DAY 12 - Antarctic Peninsula
Today, a thrilling passage through the scenic Errera Channel and crunching icebergs, takes you to the islands of Danco and Cuverville, the latter being home to one of the largest known colonies of chinstrap penguins. The Errera Channel - a waterway between Rongé Island and the Arctowski Peninsula - is narrow and truly magnificent. Because of its shallow and narrow waters, you may be treated to a fantastic spectacle of icebergs wedged against each other creating a massive ice sculpture

DAY 13 - Antarctic Peninsula
Go ashore at Neko Harbor. Surrounded by mountains and nestled in fjord-like Andvord Bay, here, visit a huge Gentoo penguin colony, view elephant seals and hike to a viewpoint to soak in the breathtaking scenery. Alternatively, dependent on weather conditions, you may visit the Almirante Brown Research Station in Paradise Harbor, a nesting place for both Gentoo and Chinstrap penguins

DAY 14 - Antarctic Peninsula
Every expedition is dependent on the ability to be flexible and make changes needed depending on weather conditions. Strict environmental guidelines are always followed leaving nothing in this pristine environment but footprints in the snow and taking nothing away

DAY 15 - Antarctic Peninsula, Polar Circle
Today, weather permitting, we cross the Polar Circle, otherwise known as the Antarctic Circle, at 66°33’ south. Indulge in the surreal beauty of the continent as the ship journeys far beyond where most Antarctic cruises venture, to areas permanently locked in ice and inaccessible in the winter. Expeditions when opportunities arise on this segment will include ice cruising and will reveal the wonder of Antarctica up close

DAY 16 - Polar Circle, Antarctic Peninsula

The Falklands, teeming with wonders of wildlife and nature, is a totally unpolluted environment with fantastically clear blue skies, seamless horizons, vast open space and stunning white sand beaches. You can anticipate a great discovery of this truly special part of the world

DAY 19 - Port Stanley, Falkland Islands
You reach Port Stanley, capital of the Falklands. After the Antarctic peninsula, it’s almost surreal to arrive in a town that looks like an old-style English seaside town with red phone boxes, red buses, and pubs. Here, you can roam the city streets and walk through town. Several excursions will also be offered onboard to explore the wilderness and the wildlife. As you reach the westernmost settled outposts in the Falklands, you will see remote farms that have been owned by families for over seven generations. Sheep graze alongside immense colonies of albatross and rockhopper penguins, while geese forage at the water’s edge
