DAY 1, Friday - Depart for Turkey

DAY 2, Saturday - Arrive in Istanbul
Arrive in Istanbul, at the crossroads of Europe and Asia and transfer to your hotel. Balance of the day is at leisure. This evening, attend an orientation meeting at approximately 7 PM with your Tour Manager and fellow travelers, followed by a Welcome Dinner. We recommended that you select flights which arrive in Istanbul no later than 3 PM on Day 2 of the itinerary, or earlier if possible

DAY 3, Sunday – Full Day Istanbul Tour
Begin the day at the magnificent Blue Mosque with its six minarets. The stunning interior decor, shimmering with over 21,000 blue Iznik tiles, is highlighted by the beautiful floral designs displaying traditional lily, carnation, tulip and rose motifs. On to the Hippodrome that served as a stadium for chariot racing and public gatherings. Continue with a visit to St. Sophia, its massive dome was a daring engineering feat in the 6th century - architects still marvel at the building's many innovations, once considered the greatest church in Christendom. It was proclaimed a mosque soon after the conquest of the city by the Ottomans in 1453, that later was converted to a museum. Afterward, arrive at Topkapi Palace, the residence of the Ottoman Sultans between the 15th and 19th centuries. The jeweled turban crests, silken caftans and priceless Chinese porcelains of the palace bear witness to the grandeur of a bygone era. Visit the spectacular Harem section, which constituted the private living space of the Sultan’s family. End the day at the Spice Market with its unforgettable aromas. Stroll along stalls selling rare spices, herbs, dried fruits and lokum (Turkish delight).

DAY 4, Monday – Gallipoli, Anzac Cemetery, Travel to Canakkale
This morning, drive to the town of Gallipoli, site of the famous Ottoman victory against the Allies during World War I. Visit the Anzac Cemetery, a memorial to the casualties of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps, whose fame grew back home as word of their heroic efforts spread. Afterwards, continue to your hotel. Here, tour the winery and learn about the harvesting, winemaking process and the viticulture history of the area. At the conclusion of the tour, enjoy a wine tasting of the different kinds of wine and varietals. Tonight, dinner is at the hotel.

DAY 5, Tuesday - Visit Troy, Pergamum, Travel to Izmir
This morning, proceed to the classical city of Troy. Tour this 4000-year-old city and legendary center of the Trojan War, made immortal by Homer's epic poem The Iliad. Then, drive to Pergamum, a powerful kingdom during the ancient Hellenistic period. Explore the Acropolis, an impressive structure that houses the Temple of Trajan, the Heroon Shrine, the Sanctuary of Athena and the Altar of Zeus. Afterward, continue to Izmir for overnight. With over 3500 years of history, the port city of Izmir known historically as Smyrna, offers a variety of impressive archaeological sites

DAY 6, Wednesday – Ancient Ephesus
Embark on a tour of the ancient city of Ephesus where the Temple of Artemis, one of the "Seven Wonders of the ancient world" once stood. The ruins at Ephesus are among the best preserved in the region. Now an open-air archaeological museum, Ephesus was once home to notable philosophers, gladiators, and rulers. Walk along the 2000 year old marble and cobblestone streets. The Odeon, the Fountain of Trajan, the steam baths of Scholastica, Temple of Hadrian, and the two-storied Library of Celsus are some the ancient sites you’ll behold on the walking tour. Visit the Great Theatre, where St. Paul preached and one of the largest theaters in antiquity. Pass through the Arcadian Way, where Mark Antony and Cleopatra once rode in procession and visit the peaceful House of the Virgin Mary near a grove of olive trees, believed to be her last residence and the Basilica of St. John, who came here to write his gospel. Later, return to Izmir and spend time at leisure

DAY 7, Thursday – Ancient City of Aphrodisias, Buldan Village en route to Pamukkale
Today, depart in the early morning from Izmir and journey to the ancient city of Aphrodisias, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore this fascinating ancient city, named after Aphrodite, the goddess of love and one of the most well-preserved ancient sites in Turkey. View the stadium, Odeon, and Temple of Aphrodite, as well as numerous marble statues and other artifacts. After lunch, visit Buldan village, an important center of Turkey’s textile industry. Visit one of the textile workshops and watch weavers using traditional weaving methods. Afterward, continue your drive to Pamukkale, known for its mineral-rich hot springs and white terraces. Arrive in Pamukkale for dinner and overnight

DAY 8, Friday - Necropolis & Hierapolis at Pamukkale, Travel to Antalya
Visit the Necropolis, a burial ground covered in limestone & ornately decorated marble tombs and the ancient city of Hierapolis "Holy City", situated atop the Pamukkale hot springs, which together constitute a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore the Roman ruins of the ancient city and health resort since the 2nd century BC, from Roman baths to the theater, gymnasium, and colonnaded street. Later, drive to the international resort city of Antalya

DAY 9, Saturday - Antalya City Tour, Perge and Aspendos
Antalya was founded by King Attalos of Pergamum as "Heaven on Earth," that has become a prime destination in Turkey. Long popular among yachters, the city also offers the liveliest nightlife on the southern coast, fantastic beaches, and world-class shopping, in addition to historic ruins in the surrounding region. Take a city tour of Antalya that includes Hadrian’s Gate, the Clock Tower, city walls dating back to the 2nd century and a visit to the Antalya Archaeological Museum with its artifacts dating back over 2500 years. Then, explore the Pamphylian city of Perge with a history dating back to the Bronze Age. View the remains of the well-preserved stadium and amphitheater, along with the agora and Roman baths. Continue to the ancient city of Aspendos with its best-preserved Roman theater in Turkey. The theater known for its superb acoustics is still in use, as the stage for the Aspendos International Opera Festival. Return to Antalya and spend the afternoon at leisure

DAY 10, Sunday - Konya, Mevlana Museum, Caravanserai of Sultanhan, Travel to Cappadocia
Today, depart in the early morning for Cappadocia. The drive will take you through the Turkish countryside to the world-renowned region of Cappadocia, a breathtaking landscape with striking rock formations and ancient underground cities. En route, stop in Konya, a city renowned for its Seljuk architecture. Here, visit the Mevlana Museum, housing the works of the 13th century leader Mevlana Celaleddin Rumi, one of the greatest mystical poets of Islam. The Mevlevi Sufi order was founded to follow his teachings. Continue the drive and visit the 13th-century Caravanserai of Sultanhan, a large abandoned city and shelter in Cappadocia, built on the Silk Road, whose main portal gate is considered a fine example of Turkish Seljuk art. During the Seljuk period, trade flourished, requiring roads for caravan transport and inns for the traveling traders. The Caravanserai provided these traders, both foreign and native, with heated rooms, food, medical attention, equipment repair and many other common conveniences. Arrive at the hotel in Cappadocia in time for dinner

DAY 11, Monday – Explore Cappadocia
Embark on a full day exploration of Cappadocia. Visit the Open-Air Museum, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Goreme Valley, to see early Christian churches decorated with unique frescoes. Continue to the fascinating Ozkonak Underground City, built on the northern slopes of Mt. Idis, that features a maze of narrow tunnels and rooms carved from soft volcanic rock. Later, explore the village of Avanos, famous for its beautiful old houses and onyx. Visit a local pottery shop before returning to the hotel. Tonight, dinner is at a local restaurant
