On this incredible trekking adventure, spend 13 challenging days traversing rhododendron forests, isolated hamlets, and mountain villages. For six to seven hours a day, follow the trails of this challenging circuit on and around one of the world's highest mountains while encountering temples, monasteries, and breathtaking landscapes. Led by expert guides and assisted by support staff throughout, you'll be greeted by locals who offer a fascinating glimpse of traditional rural life and majestic views few ever experience.

Day 1: Kathmandu
Arrive in Kathmandu at any time.
Activity: Your opportunity to meet your CEO and fellow travellers, and learn more about your tour. Opt to join the group for a local meal afterwards. Don't forget to see the notice in the lobby (or ask reception) for the official time and place to meet up with the group.
Accommodation: Fuji Hotel (or similar)

Day 2: Kathmandu/Jagat
Travel to Besi Sahar and then on to Syange via local bus. From Syange, head out on a short trek to Jagat and take in the beautiful hot springs along the way.
Transport: Settle in and scan the scenery from the convenience of a private vehicle.
Transport: Climb aboard, grab a seat, and enjoy the ride.
Activity: Enjoy a short trek from Besi Sahar, offering the first glimpse of the Himalayan peaks, and a challenging climb to reach the village of Jagat.
Accommodation: Eco Lodge (or similar)

Day 3: Jagat/Bagarchhāp
Begin 11 days of challenging trekking in one of the highest mountain ranges on Earth. Experience stunning Alpine pastures, forests of rhododendron, temples, rural villages and local people, waterfalls, glaciers, and some of the most spectacular mountain scenery known to man.
Activity: Cross breathtaking landscapes and winding paths around the mountains. Steep sided valleys filled with lush vegetation line the way to Bagarchhap.
Accommodation: Royal Mountain Lodge (or similar)

Day 4: Bagarchhāp/Chame
Trek from Bagarchhap to Chame (2,670m, 8,760ft).
Activity: Trek from Bagarchhap to Chame and watch as the scenery changes to more Alpine surroundings. Breathe in the fresh mountain air.
Accommodation: Marshyangdi Mandala (or similar)

Day 5: Chame/Pisang
Trek from Chame to Pisang (3,300m,10,827ft).
Activity: Leaving the village of Chame behind, walk out past the prayer wheels and cross wide rivers and pine forests on the way to Pisang.
Accommodation: New Tibet Lodge (or similar)

Day 6: Pisang/Manang
Trek from Pisang to Manang (3,540m, 11,614ft).
Activity: Cross the Marsyandi River on the way out to Manang. Leaving Pisang behind, head out west, passing several small villages and fascinating Buddhist monasteries before arriving at Manang, the largest village in the area. Stop in Manang overnight.
Accommodation: Mountain Lake Lodge (or similar)

Day 7: Manang
Enjoy a rest day at Manang.
Activity: The dramatic setting of Manang makes for a pleasant rest and acclimatization day with the added benefit of hot showers. The best way to acclimatize is to do some high climbing then return to the lower altitude of Manang for sleeping.
Accommodation: Mountain Lake Lodge (or similar)

Day 8: Manang/Yakkharka
Trek from Manang to Yak Kharta (4,018m, 13,182ft).
Activity: Trek through Manang, where the altitude continues to rise as the route snakes through the mountains and up to Yakkharka. Enjoy gorgeous views of the Annapurna range during the hike and from the tea house at Yakkharka.
Accommodation: Ganga Purna (Yak Kharka) (or similar)

Day 9: Yakkharka/Phedi
Trek from Yak Kharka to Phedi (4,450m, 14,600ft).
Activity: Trek from Yakkharka via pastures of grazing yak, small chortens and streams before arriving at Phedi.
Accommodation: Ganga Purna (Thorong Phedi) (or similar)

Day 10: Phedi/Muktināth
Trek from Phedi to Muktinath (3,800m, 12,467ft).
Activity: This is a tougher uphill day walking up to Muktinath. Keep a slow steady pace and enjoy the views while hiking.
Accommodation: Bob Marley Guest House (or similar)

Day 11: Muktināth/Kalopani
Take a local bus to Kalopani and view the contrasting yellow hills against green farmland of the valley floor. View the Kali Gandaki, home to the deepest canyons.
Activity: Enjoy some time away from the trek to adjust to the higher altitude. Take it easy, enjoy the scenery, drink plenty of fluids, and prepare for the next day's hiking.
Transport: Climb aboard, grab a seat, and enjoy the ride.
Accommodation: See You Lodge - Kalapani (or similar)

Day 12: Kalopani/Tatopani
Cross a suspension bridge and switchback across the river. Spend 3-4 hours trekking through waterfalls, bridges, varieties of trees, and small communities to reach Tatopani. Settle into your homestay for the night in Narchyang Village, located on the opposite side of Tatopani.
Activity: Reaching Tatopani (1,630m/5348ft) today will require crossing over suspension bridges, through villages, across orange, lemon, and banana trees, with stunning views of the Annapurna South range. After 3-4 hours of trekking arrive for a rest in Tatopani.
Activity: Set in the lower village, the Narchyang homestay offers a glimpse into traditional village life. Learn about the Magar culture and the Magar Kura language from your hosts and embrace this unique opportunity to live like a local. Get to know your hosts more over dinner as you enjoy a homemade meal of Nepali Dhido Set - typical cuisine for the area. Set in the lower village, the homestay provides the perfect starting point for exploring. Hike to the upper village for spectacular mountain views.

Day 13: Tatopani/Sikha
Climb a stairway of stone steps and cross a suspension bridge. Reach a mesmerizing view of ascending levels of teahouses and lodges with the mountains surrounding. Today's hike will be 4-5 hours.
Activity: Leave Tatopani, crossing a bridge just outside the village and head to Sikha (3,108m, 10,197ft) along a paved path that, at places, seems to be made of marble. Pass through several small villages along the way.

Meal(s): Breakfast

Day 14: Sikha/Ghorepani
Today trek from Sikha to Ghorepani (2,785m, 9,137ft). View local villages, teahouses, and settlements along the uphill route.
Activity: From Sikha, take a route seeped in history all the way to Ghorepani; myths and stories of the origins of the indigenous people of the Annapurna region abound. The views of Machhupuchare and the Himalayas from Ghorepani are absolutely spectacular on a clear day.

Day 15: Ghorepani/Birethanti
Enjoy an early morning excursion to Poon Hill. Then venture through Poonhill to Ramghai, enjoying spectacular views of the Annapurna range along the way. Cross through forests, streams, and bridges to reach the final destination, Birethanti.
Activity: Take in the incredible mountain scenery that lines the route from Ghorepani to Poon Hill. Enjoy the views across rhododendron forests and of spectacularly coloured birds during the trek. Arrive at Poon Hill to enjoy some of Nepal's best vistas.
Activity: Trek from Poon Hill to Birethanti. The views from Poon Hill are absolutely stunning and are known to be among the best in the area.
Accommodation: Ever Green Lodge (or similar)

Day 16: Birethanti/Pokhara
Take a short hike from Birethanti to Nayapul where our bus will be waiting to take us to Pokhara. Rest and take a well-deserved shower in this lakeside resort town.
Activity: Complete the final leg of your trek with a 30 minute hike to Nayapul where the bus awaits.
Transport: Settle in and scan the scenery from the convenience of a private vehicle.
Accommodation: Hotel Queens Park (or similar)

Day 17: Pokhara/Kathmandu
Return to Kathmandu.
Transport: Settle in and scan the scenery from the convenience of a private vehicle.
Free Time: Enjoy some free time in Khatmandu by shopping, sightseeing, or simply enjoying a cup of warm chai in a roadside café.

Day 18: Kathmandu

If you are a solo traveller sharing a room with someone, G Adventures will do their best to ensure they will be your roommate for the entire journey to support distancing efforts. G Adventures has 'My Own Rooms' available as an extra option for tours (pending availability), and they'll be offering more of these at more affordable prices to make it even easier to have a bit more space.

You & your fellow travellers

Travellers' safety and wellbeing is G Adventures biggest concern. If you're not feeling well before your departure, G Adventures has a Book with Confidence policy that provides you with flexibility and freedom to delay leaving until you're back to 100% healthy (terms & conditions apply). If you have a fever or any other symptoms on tour, you may be required to have a doctor clear you before rejoining us. All travellers are requested to bring face coverings, whether they're buffs, face masks or bandanas (extra style points encouraged). G Adventures makes every effort to have hand sanitizer available, but recommend bringing your own.

  • If local transportation is used, precautions will be followed in adherence to local health and safety regulations to keep travellers safe and sound.

Where you'll be staying safe

G Adventures has always carefully selected accommodation partners for high standards and local roots. Travelling in small groups means that the stay is in smaller hotels too, with fewer guests — which means less daily contact with others outside your group in public spaces. Now G Adventures is working with accommodation partners to optimize their health, safety and cleanliness procedures, as well as creating additional measures for physical distancing. Here are some of the things G Adventures is working on to help keep you safe:

  • Daily deep cleaning and disinfecting of all surface areas inside your room with extra cleaning on light switches, door handles, TV remotes, and thermostats
  • No hotel staff will enter your room after it has been cleaned
  • Increased frequency of cleaning and disinfecting of all public restrooms and all surfaces in public areas. This might include the closure of public spaces such as gyms, bars, restaurants, and meeting rooms for periods throughout the day
  • Wherever possible, groups will stay on the lower floors to limit elevator use
  • Hotels will implement social distancing protocols in line with local regulations
This is just the beginning of commitments to keeping you sleeping safe and sound. G Adventures will continue to evolve and roll-out these and additional policies as needed.

A good & safe place to eat

G Adventures has always carefully selected food service partners and worked closely with them to ensure they are meeting health, safety, and cleanliness standards with their facilities, staff training, and food preparation and delivery. Wherever possible, G Adventures will reserve separate tables or private rooms at the restaurants visited on the trip, opt for more "al fresco" opportunities when it is possible (gotta love that fresh air!), and ensure breakfasts can be "grab and go" boxes, while avoiding family style or self-serve buffets for meals. G Adventures wants you to feel comfortable and safe as you savour every last bite.

Activities

You've always had freedom and flexibility to do your own thing on tours with optional activities and experiences. Now, you'll still have those options with added measures to keep you healthy and safe. All equipment for activities on tour, including hiking poles, camping supplies, life jackets, snorkels, etc., will be cleaned thoroughly at least once a day and disinfected between use. When travellers are responsible for putting up their own tents on camping itineraries, you will be given the supplies required to disinfect your gear. G Adventures will also do their best to make activities and highlights stops happen during non-peak hours, so you can have fun and feel safe no matter what you're doing.
