Gate1 Travel is a well-run organization. The trip is not relaxing. Many mornings we were up at 5am, even 3:45am one morning. However, we finished our tours before it got hot and before the hordes descended on the location. Our tour guide, Hossam, was super!

The Egypt itinerary was packed, with the group visiting one or two sites each day. The accommodations were excellent: a Marriott and Hilton in Cairo and cabins on the river cruise ship that were bigger than ocean cruise ships. Our excellent guide, Bassam, is a certified Egyptologist who really knows his subject and speaks English well. He talked about his family and how it is living in Egypt. He would answer any question about the culture from marriage customs to who serves in the military. Also, he kept the group moving smoothly with no problems from hotel, to bus, to ship, to horse carriage, to restrooms, to ferry, to airport. Bassam also advised us what was a good price to pay in the bazaars. So many good experiences! Yea, Gate1!
