Take to the aqua waters of Maligne Lake later this afternon (seasonal), admiring views of its three glaciers and Spirit Island, named by the Stoney Nation indigenous people for the experiences their ancestors had at this place centuries ago. It's a tiny grove of trees set in pristine nature separated from the mainland by an isthmus. Spirit Island becomes a true island for a few short days during the summer. Then enjoy the dramatic views as you take a guided walk to Maligne Canyon. Later this evening, indulge in a Regional Dinner.

Before dinner, you'll enjoy a rare opportunity to meet a retired Royal Canadian Mountie, dressed in the traditional red serge uniform. Go inside the players' dressing room and put on the full hockey gear with help of a real coach. Grab your stick and it's off onto the ice where you're soon find out whether you are a lefty or righty and learn how to score the big goal. A sightseeing excursion around Banff reveals the exquisite natural beauty of the area. Admire the classic viewpoint of Surprise Corner, spectacular Bow Falls and the hoodoo rock formations.

    This afternoon, head for LJ Ranch, a family-owned and operated working cattle ranch located in the beautiful Foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Meet Joy and Lindsay Eklund, your hosts for a unique 'Be My Guest' dinner experience, and their extended family of six grown "kids", and seven grand kids.

Originally a farming festival, the Stampede has evolved over the years, attracting crowds that are looking for so much more. Today you’ll easily find something that suits your tastes - from western culinary shows to rollercoasters, there’s always something to do. You could find yourself at a concert singing along to some of the world’s greatest country musical acts or watching in awe at the pageantry of a marching show band. There are shows featuring ice-skating and acrobatics, and for dog lovers, there’s a show that’s sure to delight. Hygiene and Safety Protocols for Trafalgar Tours

Trafalgar has introduced these enhanced hygiene protocols – for you and team members.

You can travel with Trafalgar and be assured that their team has put numerous new measures in place to elevate their hygiene standards and protocols. The well-being of guests and team has always been, and always will be, their primary concern.

In this new, fast changing Covid-19 era, Trafalgar is doing all they can to adapt to new requirements and expectations. Here are some important new steps and procedures that they have implemented to enhance hygiene protocols, to comply with physical distancing requirements by relevant government authorities and to give you the peace of mind when you are traveling during these new times.

Expertly Trained Travel Directors

Travel Director training equips them with enhanced hygiene and physical distancing procedures. During your trip, they will operate with a duty of care and monitor the hygiene etiquette of the guests, reacting and advising as needed, to ensure high standards are maintained. Before you travel, Trafalgar will also keep you well informed about new protocols required in these areas, and ask that you cooperate with and heed the advice and direction of Travel Directors while on your trip. The Travel Directors have preventative measures in place to try and ensure your well-being and in the event that any unexpected issues arise on trip, they will activate additional protocols.

Stringent On-the-Road Protocols

The customized luxury coaches are sanitised before the start of your trip and have always been kept to very high standards. Following the outbreak of COVID-19, Trafalgar have taken additional measures to elevate hygiene and sanitary practices in accordance with guidance from the World Health Organisation (WHO) and as required, applicable government regulations. The Driver training provides them with the latest hygiene protocols. They will clean and disinfect all surfaces including handrails, door handles, tables, seats, air-conditioning filters and overhead lockers on a daily basis. All the guests are asked to follow hygiene practices recommended by the World Health Organisation including the thorough and regular washing of hands and sanitising when required. Hand sanitiser is freely available on board for your use throughout the day. Please bring your own washable face mask and gloves with you, and additional hand sanitiser to make you feel comfortable, as these will be required to be worn in public in some countries. Should an unexpected situation arise, additional face masks, rubber gloves, antiviral sprays and wipes will be available for guest distribution on all trips.

Trafalgar and particularly the tour director, Bob, did a great job!

Our tour Guide, BOB and the Bus Driver, Rick, were excellent.The excursions were fantastic. We had a marvelous time.

I was told that Trafalgar was a step above Globus Tours. Personally we did not find this to be the case. I would book Globus over Trafalgar if I ever do a bus tour again. Have been with Globus on two other bus trips and was extremely pleased. When we originally booked this trip it was my understanding that our hotel was to be in Banff for three days. Around April 6th Traflgar did the Bait & Switch and moved the hotel to Canmore. Felt this was a bait and switch as customers had all ready booked their airlines and Trafalgar all ready had final payment from customers. At the time this notice was received had no idea as to the location of Canmore in reference to Banff. After having been in Banff for three days felt like we missed many opportunities to explore further because of our hotel location. Canmore was 20-25 minute walk away and if unable to walk had added transportation expenses from any of the restaurant to get a meal so more added costs because of this. The hotel in Jasper was also 20-25 minutes walk and it was raining the two days we were in Jasper - so some more added expenses for taxis. Russell, Tour Director & Matthew, Bus Driver, demonstrated professional and courteous service the entire time. Russell had many bumps in the road on this trip with having the cancel the Maligne Canyon and cruise lake trip due to the rain storms. Also at the Holiday Inn in Canmore - the Be My Guest Dinner was terrible as the Holiday Inn Staff of three people who were working very hard to serve us could not serve a plated meal to 51 people. The food was terrible and was cold and they had our choice of the main entree 48 hours in advance. Very poor management issues with the food department at Holiday Inn. Even with the breakfast buffet in the morning they were out of items and you had to ask if they were bringing more out, the tables were not cleared off for a place to set and eat your meal. Not a pleasant stay at the Holiday Inn.

There was a mix up over hotels as Trafalgar changed after we booked the trip. We ended up having to make an extra move, but our travel consultant at Affordable Tours was helpful getting us transfers. Our tour guide was disappointing in that he never made any introductions of the travelers on the trip, other than country. Every other tour we were on did this. He also failed to tell us about the show after the stampede, which was the highlight of the evening and we missed it. Trafalgar has us fill out a survey, which had our name on it and went to the tour director, making it difficult to be honest. It should be anonymous and go directly to the company, not the guide.
