Tour Itinerary

Revel in the extraordinary landscapes reaching from Seattle to the San Juan Islands and beyond as you discover that natural beauty is literally all around you... from the looming snowy peaks... to the pristine coastline... to the climate ripe for stunning gardens... and much more.Go behind the scenes in Seattle’s Pike Place Market with an interpretive guide... embark on a “treetop adventure” through the canopy of a coastal rainforest above a British Columbia river gorge... there's flightseeing, wine tastings and afternoon tea at The Butchart Gardens... and in Vancouver, epicurean pleasures abound in a market walk and at our farewell dinner.

  1. Day 1
    Arrive Seattle

Tour begins: 5:00 PM, Fairmont Olympic Hotel Seattle. A transfer is included from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport to the Fairmont Olympic Hotel Seattle. We invite you to join us for a welcome reception followed by a private, exclusive dinner at the World Trade Center, boasting stunning views of the waterfront.

    Meals: Dinner
  2. Day 2
Pike Place Market and free time

A culinary walking and tasting tour with a local guide immerses you in the flavors, scents, and colors of Pike Place Market; established in 1907, this lively spot is one of the oldest continuously operated farmers markets in the country – and home to the famous “flying fish” of the Pike Place Fish Market. Your afternoon is free.

    Meals: Breakfast
  3. Day 3
The San Juan Islands & whale watching

Drive to Bellingham to board a private charter boat for a cruise through the waters of the San Juan Islands. As you sail through the forested archipelago tucked into a pocket of Puget Sound, take in the uplifting scenery, keep a lookout for bald eagles, and savor a special lunch of regional specialties. Cruise on to the marine areas where orcas live and raise their young for a chance to spot them. Disembark in Victoria, British Columbia, a picturesque island city of 19th-century buildings and a food culture that is rich and discriminating. Your iconic hotel overlooks the city’s Inner Harbour; enjoy dinner here this evening.

    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
  4. Day 4
    Victorian charms

A short walk from your hotel brings you to the Royal BC Museum for a guided tour that sheds light on artifacts and specimens of British Columbia’s history, both natural and human. Enjoy a free afternoon to spend more time in the museum or explore Victoria as you please. The oldest city in the Pacific Northwest, Victoria has a history rooted in First Nations culture stretching back thousands of years, and British and Asian traditions since the mid-1800s. You’ll see these influences in the city’s stately architecture, heritage sites, gardens, museums, galleries, and markets. Your Tauck Director will have suggestions for places to visit, according to your interests. The evening is free.

    Meals: Breakfast
  5. Day 5
The Butchart Gardens & a floatplane

Victoria is known as the “city of gardens,” and The Butchart Gardens are its crowning jewel, honored as a National Historic Site of Canada. The gardens offer an answer to this question: what in the world does one do with an exhausted limestone quarry? In the early 20th century, Jennie Butchart, the chemist at her husband’s cement company, turned their used-up limestone quarry into a spectacular Sunken Garden. Next, she added the Italian Garden, the Japanese Garden, and the Rose Garden. Take in the splendor of the Butchart landscapes today and have lunch – an Afternoon Tea – at the original family residence, including a sampling of local wines. A floatplane flies you to Vancouver's Coal Harbour for a two-night stay at Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, a landmark of timeless elegance in the heart of the city. Enjoy dinner at your hotel.

    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
  6. Day 6
A cliff walk and Stanley Park

Lush with farms and vineyards, Vancouver is an epicurean powerhouse in a lovely coastal setting that has captured the attention of gourmands and outdoor enthusiasts around the world. At the Capilano River, a breathtaking adventure offers you a squirrel’s-eye view of the rainforest in the treetop canopy along a footbridge network and cliff walk with a view of the valley that only rock climbers used to be able to enjoy! Explore nature closer to the ground at Stanley Park and in the historic Gastown district, a foodie magnet. Following a free afternoon to explore Vancouver as you please, join us this evening for our farewell reception and dinner at Seasons in the Park.

    Meals: Breakfast, Dinner
  7. Day 7
    Journey home

Tour ends: Vancouver, BC. Fly home anytime. Transfers from Fairmont Hotel Vancouver are included to Vancouver International Airport, or the train station. Please allow a minimum of three hours for flight check-in.

Questions & Answers

Question: We have a seven-year-old daughter; would she be welcome on this tour?

Unfortunately the minimum age limit on this tour is 8 years and older at time of travel. We do have other options, including different itineraries with Tauck Bridges, that have a lower age requirement.

Question: How many suitcases can I take with me on my trip?

Each person is allowed one "check-in," and one "carry-on." Remember to take all valuables with you as "carry-on", because electronic equipment, cameras, laptops, jewelry, business documents and money are not covered by the airlines' liability, so always carry them aboard with you.

Question: Is Airfare Included in the Price?

Airfare from your point of origin to and from the trip is not included in the land price.

The tour was too much time on a bus, 2 of the hotels were not comfortable and restaurants were lower end. Very disappointed. We spent way too long traveling from Seattle to Victoria when we could have gone on the high speed ferry. Since we only had one night in Victoria and left early the next morning, we had no time to see it. Overall it was rush, rush, rush and not our idea of a nice tour. Restaurants chosen by Tauck were very disappointing. Fortunately, several of the dinnners and lunches were on our own and we picked some awesome places to eat.
