Day 1 | Arrive in Glasgow
Arrive in Glasgow. Make your own way to your pre-booked Glasgow hotel. Overnight in Glasgow.

Day 2 | Travel to Skye!
Make your way to the departure point at: Buchanan Bus Station, Killermont St. between Stances 23 to 32. This tour departs promptly at 9:00 am. Please make your way to this departure point 15 minutes before departure. Depart Glasgow and travel north, crossing the ancient natural fault line that runs across Scotland. We travel into the majestic Highlands, where the scenery changes quickly and dramatically. The flat, fertile plains of the Lowlands give way to shimmering lochs, rugged mountain tops, and forest-filled glens. We continue north through the splendid scenery of Loch Lomond & the Trossachs National Park up to the wild desolation of Rannoch Moor, and on to the spectacular mountain pass of Glencoe. This haunting glen was the scene of a great massacre in 1692 where many of the Clan MacDonald were slaughtered. We stop in this imposing mountain pass, so you can enjoy the spectacular views. After lunch we pass Britain's highest mountain, Ben Nevis, and head into the Great Glen. Travelling west you head past the Five Sisters of Kintail. You then stop to visit the famous Eilean Donan Castle*, one of Scotland's most photographed castles. Crossing over the bridge to Skye, you follow the dramatic coastline, towards the island's capital, Portree. And after all this breath-taking beauty, you're dropped off at your accommodation in the early evening with enough time to go out and explore the town.*Unfortunately, Eilean Donan Castle is closed on various dates throughout Nov, Dec, and Jan. If your tour falls on one of those dates please be aware that although you can't visit the castle, you'll still be able to take photos from various viewpoints.

Day 3 | Explore Skye
Today is a very flexible day on Skye. There are many possibilities depending on the weather and dynamics of the group. Your driver/guide's knowledge will help in arranging the best day for everyone. For example: travel north to explore the Trotternish Peninsula with its stunning Quiraing mountain pass and some of Skye's extraordinary geological scenery and visit Kilt Rock, composed of basalt columns (reminiscent of the pleats in a kilt) with its waterfall cascading over the cliffs and down into the sea below. There will be a short break for lunch before continuing to enjoy this most dramatic of islands. Heading in a westerly direction there is Dunvegan Castle, the ancestral home of Clan MacLeod, and possibly the opportunity to enjoy spectacular views at Neist Point, the most westerly point on Skye. We return you to your accommodation in the early evening for you to enjoy a free night.

Day 4 | Return to Glasgow
You will be collected from your accommodation and travel south through the Cuillin Hills and back over to the mainland for stunning views over Loch Duich and the 5 Sisters of Kintail. Onto Loch Ness for lunch and the possibility of spotting "Nessie." Head south now through the Grampian Mountains along Loch Laggan, famous now as "Monarch of the Glen Country" before passing Dalwhinnie, home to Scotland's highest whisky distillery, and onwards past Blair Castle before heading back to Glasgow. Independently make your way to your pre-booked Glasgow hotel.

Day 5 | Depart Glasgow

    Your tour land price is per person based on two (2) people sharing a twin or double room. When a single room is booked, a single supplement will apply. There are no triple rooms for this tour.

    Everything that was detailed in the itinerary was carried out during the trip. Our guide Terry was wonderful, professional and very informative. He explained important details and made sure we saw all we could. The bus was clean and comfortable.

    This was my fourth trip to Ireland and by far the BEST with Celtic Tours!!!! The tour locations were wonderful and our tour guide, Sean was awesome!!!
