DAY 2, Thursday - Arrive in Milan, Transfer to Como
Arrive in Milan and then transfer to your hotel in the town of Como, home to exquisite Lake Como, one of Italy's most romantic destinations. The rest of the day is at leisure to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Tonight, attend an orientation meeting at approximately 6 PM (exact time will be advised on tour arrival day) with your Tour Manager to discuss the upcoming journey that awaits you in Italy. We recommend you to select flights that arrive no later than 4 PM. The meeting will be followed by a dinner with your fellow travelers

DAY 3, Friday - Cross Lake Como to the Village of Bellagio
Today, embark on a scenic morning cruise on the lake to the charming village of Bellagio, termed one of the most beautiful towns in Italy and "The Pearl" of Lake Como. Nestled amidst cypress groves, its earthy-colored buildings climb up from the lakeside promenade. Wander along the narrow streets and alleyways, lined with craft shops, boutiques and cafés. Or, visit some of the gorgeous gardens with manicured lawns and fountains at Villa Melzi or Villa Serbelloni. Sail back to Como with time to experience the delights of this lakeside town with its spectacular mountain views, wonderful restaurants, and boutiques

DAY 4, Saturday - Verona Walking Tour, Travel to Venice
After breakfast, set out for Verona, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the richest cities in Roman remains, representing today one of the best examples of a fortified city. Its urban structure developed progressively and without interruption over the last 2000 years. Verona is also known worldwide as the setting of Shakespeare's famous play Romeo and Juliet. Participate in an orientation walking tour followed by free time to savor the atmosphere of this unique city. Continue to Venice and enjoy dinner together

DAY 5, Sunday - Boat Ride to Murano, Tour of Venice
The discovery of Venice begins with a boat ride to the Island of Murano, known for its artistic and colorful glassware. While here, visit a local factory to witness the art of glassblowing. Afterward, continue to the main Venice Island and take a walking tour with your local guide through the maze of narrow alleyways and bridges before reaching St. Mark's Square. Upon reaching the square, stop to view its most prominent monuments, the pink marble Doge's Palace, Bridge of Sighs, and golden Basilica of San Marco. The Doge's Palace was the official residence of the Venetian ruler. The Bridge of Sighs offers one of the most notable scenes of this romantic city. Marvel at the golden Basilica of San Marco, that is one of the city's most recognizable landmarks. It was built over several centuries in a fusion of Byzantine, Roman and Venetian architecture. The rest of the day is yours to explore Venice independently, or participate in this afternoon's optional Gondola Ride, offering a different perspective of this unique city built on water

DAY 6, Monday - Tour Lucca en route to Montecatini
Magnificent panoramas are waiting for you today as you travel through the rolling Tuscan countryside dotted with olive and fig trees to Lucca. With its massive 17th century walls that completely surround the city, the town is a jewel of medieval architecture. Walk along the winding streets of the original Roman grid revealing layers of history at every turn. Arrive at the Church of San Michele adorned by its beautiful piazza, occupying the site of the ancient Roman Forum. Continue to Montecatini for dinner and overnight

DAY 7, Tuesday - Full Day in Montecatini
Spend a full day at leisure to explore Montecatini and its surroundings on your own, or take an optional tour to the spectacular Cinque Terre*, one of the most beautiful areas of the Liguria region. Here the Cinque Terre National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, comprises five small villages, nestled in the cliffs overlooking the sea and the surrounding hillsides. Marvel at the scenic coastline while exploring the villages and the beautiful vistas. This active walking tour covers a fair amount of ground facing uneven surfaces, stairs, steps and significant slopes. DAY 8, Wednesday - Full Day in Montecatini
Explore Montecatini on your own today, or join the optional full day excursion to the enchanting medieval city of Siena that sits elegantly over three hills. The heart of the city is the stunning Piazza del Campo, the huge central plaza where the Roman Forum used to be. It is now the site of the famous Palio horse race, that takes place twice every summer to celebrate the holy apparition and assumption of the Virgin Mary, patron saint of the city. Tour Campo Square before returning to Montecatini. This evening, indulge in the Tuscan atmosphere, its food and wines!

DAY 9, Thursday - Excursion to Florence
Today, travel to Florence, birthplace of the Italian Renaissance. Upon arrival, take a guided walking tour through the heart of Florence, to view the magnificent Duomo, with its Brunelleschi-designed dome, the renowned "Gates of Paradise" of the Baptistery by Ghiberti and Giotto's Bell Tower. Proceed to the open-air art museum of Signoria Square, and admire the statues of the Loggia dei Lanzi, Palazzo Vecchio, former residence of the Medici family, before continuing to Ponte Vecchio, the "Old Bridge". Spend time on your own in the early afternoon to visit museums, shop for gold and quality leather before returning to Montecatini. Tonight, join your Tour Manager and fellow travelers for dinner at the hotel

I had a wonderful time on the tour. The itinerary was busy but we were able to see so much of Spain. Our tour manager was wonderful. She kept us on schedule and took great care of us. She was very helpful with an issues that came up. She really made the experience great! The local tour guides were all excellent. We learned so much about the history and culture of the areas we visited.

We had a great time in Egypt and a great time with Gate 1. The tour manager was wonderful - professional, organized, knowledgeable and caring. The trip itself covered all the things we wanted to see and the services provided by Gate 1 were handled really well. The one weakness for us was the Nile cruise on the Esplanade. It was fine, but not what I'd call "top-notch". The ship was clean and the staff pleasant, which was the most important part of the cruise to us. However, we found the food was pretty unappealing. The restaurant meals provided by Gate 1 were consistently good- interesting places and good food. The hotels provided by Gate 1 were also nice and in good locations. I would definitely take another trip with Gate 1 and would recommend it to others.
