    Questions & Answers

Question: Do you acomodate who a problem walking.

This active program covers a good amount of ground each day. Expect from three to four hours walking on some touring days. The pace is moderate, however you will encounter some uneven surfaces, stairs, steps and significant slopes. A few early wake-ups are required. There are two long days spent on the coach between eSwatini and Hazyview, as well as between Hazyview and Johannesburg. For your comfort, several stops will be made along the way including a lunch break. While the majority of the tour will be performed in an air-conditioned motor coach, game drives will be performed by small safari vehicles that cannot be air-conditioned. While the majority of South Africa is malaria-free, visitors to Kruger National Park are encouraged to consult their health care providers regarding malaria prophylaxis. We suggest you check with your health-care provider before signing up for this tour. During this tour, you may come into proximity of wild animals whose actions can be unpredictable. Certain inherent risks are involved which should be considered at your own discretion.

Question: hi! what is the baggage weight limit whilst flying within Africa to scenic points?

Flights within South Africa and between South Africa and Zimbabwe have a weight restriction for luggage of 44 lbs. per piece of checked luggage and 14 lbs. per piece of carry-on luggage, with a limit of one checked and one carry-on piece of luggage per person. This differs from international flight luggage limits and should be taken into account when preparing for your trip.

Question: How many suitcases can I take with me on my trip?

Each person is allowed one "check-in," and one "carry-on." Remember to take all valuables with you as "carry-on", because electronic equipment, cameras, laptops, jewelry, business documents and money are not covered by the airlines' liability, so always carry them aboard with you.

Question: Is Airfare Included in the Price?

Airfare from your point of origin to and from the trip is not included in the land price.

This trip was fantastic. It was packed with lots of activities and places to see. Unfortunately, weather plays a big role in what you see and don't see. We weren't able to visit Robben Island due to choppy water and couldn't see much of Victoria Falls due to rain/fog. But I'm not complaining, that's just how things go. Other than that, the itinerary was very fast paced and we got to see a lot, which was desired. The tour was very organized and our group leader, Ahmet, was very knowledgable of the places we visited. I would recommend the game drive in Botswana over the game drive in South Africa. The food and drink was quite good from the included meals. Ahmet did his best to accomodate everyone. I'd recommend this tour to anyone wanting to see as much as possible in such a short time frame. The schedule is strict but well worth the sights.

The trip and the experience exceeded our expectations. Both Affordable Tours and Gate 1 were outstanding.

This tour delivered everything that it promised in its description. Wonderful, professional tour guide and drivers, top accommodations, plenty of little extras. It exceeded my expectations.

The trip had too much down time. This could have easily been a 10 day trip. Plus due to overcast skies there was no trip to table mountain and always no substitute so that created another Half day with nothing to do.

The tour was exactly as described by Gate1 and AT. I wish I had chosen a slightly different itinerary because of two long days riding the bus. Durban to Hluhluwe and Kruger NP to Johannesburg rides were too long. Flights would have been better. This was our first Gate 1 tour. Our preference is for Globus and/or Cosmos - may be because the tour directors there seemed more organized. Our tour-director on Gate 1 mis-communicated with the hotel staff at two hotels. This resulted in early wake up calls, breakfast not being ready, or people missing written itinerary for the day. In all fairness, the tour director did a fantastic job in providing an eye-opening narrative of the dark days of South Africa, because of personal experiences. We learned a lot from her and will always be grateful for sharing personal details.

Our tour guide Charl was awesome! He catered to our every need!
