Day 1
Phnom PenhArrive at any time, and choose to kick back at the hostel, or head out to explore the city before meeting up with fellow Roamies in the evening. Soak up the vibe of bustling Phnom Penh on a thrilling cyclo tour around the busy streets. Hungry? Good, because we stop by one of best restaurants in Phnom Penh.
Activity: Settle in a traditional cyclo and depart from Wat Phnom. Tour busy streets to soak up the real vibe of the city. Pass the post office and Van's restaurant, both stunning colonial buildings, and make your way to the Royal Palace and National Museum. Go along the riverside road and take in the atmospheric cafes that line the street.
Activity: Your opportunity to meet your CEO and fellow travellers, and learn more about your tour. Opt to join the group for a local meal afterwards. Don't forget to see the notice in the lobby (or ask reception) for the official time and place to meet up with the group.
Accommodation: Pooltop Phnom Penh (or similar)
Meals: Dinner -
Day 2
Phnom Penh/Siem ReapHit the road and settle in for the drive today-don't worry, you'll have plenty of stops along the way. Deep fried tarantula anyone? Test your fear factor at the infamous skun insect and spider market offering a wide selection of deep fried creepy-crawlies for you to sample. Close your eyes and CRUNCH! After regaining your senses, you'll visit a silk farm for a demonstration of this age-old weaving practice; a perfect place to pick up a souvenir or two. Continue on to Sambor Prei Kuk, a UNESCO world heritage site which predates Angkor by 100 years. Explore these less-visited ruins and fill your feed with awesome pictures of the forest-encased ancient temples. Arrive in Siem Reap with plenty of time to check out the nightlife. Cheers to another epic day!
Activity: Visit the infamous Skun Market known for selling all kinds of seasoned and deep fried insects and spiders. This bizarre market is a must see, with the stalls of vendors offering their unusual "tasty" treats. Take a walk through the rows and your CEO will purchase some deep fried tarantula's for those that are brave enough to try them.
Activity: Visit Santuk Silk Farm for a guided tour and view the process of silk production from beginning to end. Learn about the delicate 7-week life cycle of the silkworm and how from these unassuming creature Khmer golden silk is produced. This farm employs women artisan weavers; and you can watch them weave scarves and other items.
Activity: Take a guided tour of Sambor Prei Kuk ancient site-a UNESCO World Heritage site predating Angkor by over 100 years. This huge complex receives fewer visitors and includes almost 300 temples to explore. It's shocking to note that the site only opened up to visitors in 2007 having been filled with landmines from the Khmer Rouge period (these have been cleared for safe visits). Visiting this archaeological zone is exciting as it is less excavated and encompassed by surrounding forest.
Transport: Settle in and scan the scenery from the convenience of a private vehicle.
Accommodation: Lub D Siem Reap (or similar)
Meals: Breakfast -
Day 3
Siem ReapReady for adventure? You have the full day to choose from a multitude of activities. Visit Tonle Sap floating village or go for the big ticket item and visit the massive temple complex of Angkor Wat. Choose to channel your inner tomb-raider and explore with a local guide-your followers will thank you for these shots. Ready to eat? Jump in a tuk tuk and head to the G Adventures-supported New Hope training restaurant for a scrumptious Khmer dinner. Ready to party now? The evening is yours to hit the night market or join a bar crawl along Siem Reap's famed "pub street." Who needs sleep anyways?
Free Time: Your day is free to explore all Siem Reap has to offer. Chat with your CEO for all the options.
Transport: Experience a memorable ride around the city in one of these open-air, three-wheeled vehicles. More chaotic than comfortable, taking at least one wild ride is part of the experience.
Activity: Depending on the day of the week your tour visits Siem Reap, you will either enjoy a traditional meal at the G Adventures-supported New Hope project or in a local home in a nearby village. With so many travellers coming through this area, alternating experiences helps to allow multiple small businesses to flourish. Both experiences are truly unique and memorable. The New Hope Vocational Training Restaurant, an initiative kickstarted by G Adventures, provides skill-building opportunities to marginalized community members. The project also funds the adjacent free community school and health centre. Meals at Phila's house support the education of underprivileged children in the area. Visit either project - both run by locals - and see how they have supported positive change in the community.
Accommodation: Lub D Siem Reap (or similar)
Meals: Breakfast Dinner -
Day 4
Siem Reap/BangkokRoad trip! Head out to cross the Cambodia/Thai border with a stop for some shopping at the massive Rong Kluea market. Continuing through Thailand, you'll visit the remote Wat Sothorn Wararam Woraviharn-a temple revered by local Thai's and not often visited by travellers. Need a snack? Your CEO will purchase some local delicacies for you to try-freshly squeezed palm fruit juice and charcoaled grilled sweet glutinous rice wrapped in banana leaf. Yum! Continue on to your hostel in Bangkok and get ready for a night out like no other. Let's hit Khao San Road! Follow your CEO along Bangkok's famed party street and check out the lively bars and clubs. Grab a Singha lager or a bucket and mix and mingle with the throngs of partiers from around the world. This could very well be the best night of your life. Bring it on!
Transport: Settle in and scan the scenery from the convenience of a private vehicle.
Activity: Get ready to cross into Thailand. Aranyaprathet is known for being one of the most hectic border crossings but your CEO will help make the process go as smoothly as possible. The border crossing is done on foot and can take up to an hour so be patient and think of all the fun Thailand has in store.
Transport: Settle in and scan the scenery from the convenience of a private vehicle.
Activity: Enjoy some free time at the Rong Kluea border market known for its abundance of cheap bulk items and clothing. There is a wide range of products-truly something for everyone and its a great place to try some Thai cuisine from the stalls as well as sampling delicious tropical fruits. Your CEO can recommend the best dishes to sample.
Activity: Take a CEO-led tour of Wat Sothon Wararam Woraviharn a very important pilgrimage site to Thai people. Known for having the largest chapel building in Thailand, the site receives few foreign visitors, and you'll learn the importance of Buddhism in everyday Thai life. After visiting the temple we'll have a quick snack Thai-style. Your CEO will purchase some local delicacies for the group to try which can include freshly squeezed palm fruit juice and charcoaled grilled sweet glutinous rice wrapped in banana leaf.
Accommodation: Nornyaowarat Hotel (or similar)

Health and Safety Protocols for G Adventures Tours
Travel with Confidence
Your safety, as well as the safety of employees and partners, has always been G Adventures top priority, which is why new physical distancing and cleaning measures have been put in place on all of the tours. New Travel with Confidence policy features new health and safety procedures from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave, without taking away from having the time of your life. The policy will evolve as time goes on and as G Adventures continues to monitor local public health recommendations, but what won't change is the commitment to keeping you safe as you explore big, beautiful world.
Before you join us
Global Connection Officers
GCOs (the people who answer when you call us) are available 24/7 to help with any questions you have prior to your trip, so you can feel confident and safe before leaving. No matter what time of day, they're there to respond to you — even at 3AM. They'll be up to date on local regulations and restrictions and can guide you through your travel process as smoothly as possible. And if you don't feel well before travelling, there's the Book with Confidence policy that helps you reschedule your trip for when you do, which they can help you with too (terms & conditions apply). If you book flights with us and there are any changes, rest assured that the team will support you by making new arrangements on your behalf.
Smaller groupsGroups have always been small. This offers security, access, camaraderie, and a connection with your destination you won't get by travelling on bus tours or on your own. The average group size is 12, ensuring travellers can engage with each other without being squeezed together like sardines — and that was before physical distancing became a reality. Plus, if you have 8 or more friends you'd like to adventure with, you can reserve the entire trip!
My own roomIf you're joining one of the small group tours on your own, good on ya! If you are a solo traveller sharing a room with someone, G Adventures will do their best to ensure they will be your roommate for the entire journey to support distancing efforts. G Adventures has 'My Own Rooms' available as an extra option for tours (pending availability), and they'll be offering more of these at more affordable prices to make it even easier to have a bit more space.
When you arrive
Chief Experience Officers
CEOs are responsible for ensuring you have the time of your life while keeping you as safe as possible. Here's how they're ready to do that:
- They're trained in First Aid, CPR, and other safety protocols
- They're supported 24/7 by the field staff in offices around the world who are well-equipped to handle emergencies
- They can help you find local clinics if you're feeling sick
- They'll receive new training to ensure they are up to date on all health and safety policies during these evolving times
- They have extensive local knowledge to proactively help you navigate wherever you're travelling
- Their local knowledge allows for greater flexibility when it comes to knowing the best time to visit certain highlights to avoid crowds whenever possible and suggesting the restaurants with the strictest hygiene practices or those where you can reserve your own table or room in advance
- They'll wear face masks when necessary based on local guidelines and recommendations
Travellers' safety and wellbeing is G Adventures biggest concern. If you're not feeling well before your departure, G Adventures has a Book with Confidence policy that provides you with flexibility and freedom to delay leaving until you're back to 100% healthy (terms & conditions apply). If you have a fever or any other symptoms on tour, you may be required to have a doctor clear you before rejoining us. All travellers are requested to bring face coverings, whether they're buffs, face masks or bandanas (extra style points encouraged). G Adventures makes every effort to have hand sanitizer available, but recommend bringing your own.

G Adventures has always carefully selected accommodation partners for high standards and local roots. Travelling in small groups means that the stay is in smaller hotels too, with fewer guests — which means less daily contact with others outside your group in public spaces. Now G Adventures is working with accommodation partners to optimize their health, safety and cleanliness procedures, as well as creating additional measures for physical distancing. Here are some of the things G Adventures is working on to help keep you safe:
- Daily deep cleaning and disinfecting of all surface areas inside your room with extra cleaning on light switches, door handles, TV remotes, and thermostats
- No hotel staff will enter your room after it has been cleaned
- Increased frequency of cleaning and disinfecting of all public restrooms and all surfaces in public areas. This might include the closure of public spaces such as gyms, bars, restaurants, and meeting rooms for periods throughout the day
- Wherever possible, groups will stay on the lower floors to limit elevator use
- Hotels will implement social distancing protocols in line with local regulations
G Adventures has always carefully selected food service partners and worked closely with them to ensure they are meeting health, safety, and cleanliness standards with their facilities, staff training, and food preparation and delivery. Wherever possible, G Adventures will reserve separate tables or private rooms at the restaurants visited on the trip, opt for more "al fresco" opportunities when it is possible (gotta love that fresh air!), and ensure breakfasts can be "grab and go" boxes, while avoiding family style or self-serve buffets for meals. G Adventures wants you to feel comfortable and safe as you savour every last bite.
ActivitiesYou've always had freedom and flexibility to do your own thing on tours with optional activities and experiences. Now, you'll still have those options with added measures to keep you healthy and safe. All equipment for activities on tour, including hiking poles, camping supplies, life jackets, snorkels, etc., will be cleaned thoroughly at least once a day and disinfected between use. When travellers are responsible for putting up their own tents on camping itineraries, you will be given the supplies required to disinfect your gear. G Adventures will also do their best to make activities and highlights stops happen during non-peak hours, so you can have fun and feel safe no matter what you're doing.
Before you leave
A healthy goodbye
If you're not feeling well at the end of your tour for any reason, let your CEO know and they can help get you access to medical care and support. Because we want you to head home after a life-changing experience feeling just as good (let's be honest, way better) than when you left.

G Adventures small group traveling was outstanding. We could get places that large coach trips could not. And we got to know each other so well. Everything was quicker and easier. Imagine a group of 8 versus 30! We will only travel small group from now on out.
G Adventures was amazing! Our CEO went above and beyond. We would absolutely travel on one of their tours again.
G-Adventures is very good. I highly recommend their trips.
I have booked with affordable tours before with other agents but Maya Keith is absolutely the best. She was patient in answering all our question especially as it related to travel in Europe when there is war in Ukraine
This was one of the best trips we have ever taken. Our guide was so polite, helpful and informative. The fact that there were fewer tourists made it all the better.

I am a bit upset that there were people on the tour who booked at the last minute and paid $900 & $1200 each. Isn't there any protection for price drop after booking?
