London to ParisThe time of your life starts now in London town. Say your goodbyes and grab any last minute snacks before we hit the road in search of Paris. Wave farewell as we leave behind the famous White Cliffs of Dover. The chalk cliffs that edge the English coastline are the first of many natural beauties we’ll see on our trip. We’ll soon arrive in Calais, where a historical talk will give us a poignant glimpse of the past, as we take in the World War One battlefields and pass the Valley of the Somme. We know you've been dreaming of Parisian sights since way back when. It’s straight down to business as we kick things off with a night tour, marvelling at the city sparkling with lights and romance from the top of the Montparnasse Tower. City of love, city of light, city of bridges...Paris is known in many ways and loved the world over. Paris to LucerneThis morning we wind our way through the French countryside, past the scenic vineyards of the Burgundy region and across the border to Switzerland. Just when you think France is the most scenic place on Earth, we make a border cross into Switzerland and the charming town of Lucerne. Cobbled streets, fairytale medieval architecture, snow-capped mountain backdrops and swans floating past on the sparkling lake make this a setting fit for fairytales. LucerneThe day is yours to enjoy the great outdoors. Take an optional trip up Mount Pilatus via a cable car and cogwheel railway, where you can go hiking, ride Switzerland’s longest summer toboggan or simply take in the views. Speaking of views, there are plenty more of those if instead you choose to take a cruise on Lake Lucerne, sitting back and drinking in the meadows, forests and mountain peaks. Back in town, you’re free to pick up some souvenirs (a Swiss watch? Lucerne to Beaujolais Wine RegionWatch the Alpine vistas fade into the distance as we head back into France, via cosmopolitan Lake Geneva. The best is yet to come when you check into Contiki’s very own – and very spectacular - 16th century chateau... Nestled amidst the rolling hills of the Beaujolais wine region, with newly refurbed rooms and luxe dressing rooms, the Chateau is the perfect backdrop to summer days and nights lounging by the pool. Foodies will love La Boqueria market and sports fans won’t want to miss a visit to Camp Nou, home of FC Barcelona. French Riviera including MonacoNowhere says ‘French chic’ like Nice, and today is your chance to browse the tempting stalls of the market, climb to the castle (or take the lift) for breathtaking views over the Cote d’Azur or make like the locals, sipping a pastis and watching the world go by. You could also choose to pedal through the neighbouring vineyards on a bike tour and sample a glass or two of the local wine, before we drive along the shimmering coastline to Monaco later today. Missing an opportunity to see this glorious part of the world up close and personal would be criminal. Speaking of things you shouldn't miss, this region is famous for lavender honey, aioli & rosé wine; all 3 in one meal should be your mission. You're going to want a few spare coins tonight so you can play fancy in Monte Carlo. Here you’ll have time for dinner before we get ready for an evening of glamour at the Monte Carlo Casino, forever immortalised on screen as James Bond’s nightspot of choice. French Riviera to FlorenceToday we say our farewells to the French Riviera and take our first jaunt into Italy. Pizza, pasta, & charming locals are about to warm us from the inside out. As if we were going to head straight to Florence without a sneaky side trip to the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Depriving you of the chance to perfect the holding-up-the-tower shot would be down right criminal. And welcome to Florence. Home to red roofs, Renaissance architecture and rustic cuisine - which we'll have the chance to experience first hand on a traditional Tuscan evening. Day 11
Florence to RomeToday will be split nicely between two of Italy's best cities, with Rome on our afternoon to-do list. First up is frolicking around Florence this morning, with our local guide taking us behind the scenes & revealing the city's cultural beginnings. All the big sights will be by a leather craft demonstration, part of Florence's artisan history. After a journey of romantic views past cypress trees and olive groves, we'll arrive in the Eternal City of Rome. Wasting no time uncovering the city, we'll take a tour of some of the biggest Italian icons, with famous sights and photo stops include the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps. Whatever you do, don’t miss out on those other timeless classics – pizza, pasta and Italian gelato.Accommodation: Hotel Santa Costanza (or similar)

Day 12
RomeYou could explore one of the world's greatest icons this morning, and walk in the footsteps of gladiators, it's hard to believe these sights still exist, and when in Rome of course! If an unveiling of the Colosseum isn't your jam, make the day your own and do all the quintessential Italian things, like sipping endless espressos while the world rides by on Vespa. We recommend heading to the Trastevere for the ultimate people watching, over a steaming bowl of carbonara in its true home, flanked by a caprese salad of fresh tomatoes, creamy mozzarella and basil. Opt to take an optional guided tour of the Vatican Museums, including the Sistine Chapel. Religious or not, the Vatican's Italian Renaissance church will send shivers down your spine. This is also the day to learn a thing or two about the Colosseum & do a bit of your own exploring. Day 13
Rome to VeniceToday we bid a reluctant ‘Arrivederci’ to Rome and travel across the top of Italy’s ‘boot’, headed for Venice, famed city of canals. We’ll stop off along the way for free time and lunch in Padua, a city with history and hipster all rolled into one. Padua university was one of the first in the world and was home to Galileo, but it’s still going strong, giving the city a vibey student feel. It's also worth checking out Giotto’s famous frescoes in the Scrovegni Chapel, a kind of amazing medieval comic depicting the life of Christ. Who can fail to fall in love with the watery wonderland that is Venice? With no roads, Venice is built on over 100 small islands, with 400 bridges crossing 150 canals including the main Grand Canal, lined with Renaissance and Gothic palaces for us to explore tomorrow.Accommodation: Hotel Riviera dei Dogi (or similar)

VeniceBuongiorno! Venice is ours for a full and glorious Italian day. We'll start exploring The Floating City by jumping aboard our own private motoscafo boat and cruising the canals en route to the historical heart of the city. Next, you have the option to discover hidden Venice with a guided walking tour or a traditional gondola ride, or take a guided cruise out to the UNESCO heritage site of Burano. Venice to Austrian TyrolFarewell gentle canals and hello wild Alpine waters. As we arrive in the Austrian Tyrol, an optional white-water rafting adventure should get the adrenaline pumping nicely. Once you catch your breath, we'll be resting up in a Contiki Special Stay, a local Austrian Gasthof (guest house) that's waiting for us with open arms. This is the perfect retreat for relaxing and swapping stories, while feasting on authentic Austrian food and local beer prepared fresh on site. Austrian Tyrol to Munich via Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial SitePolish off your stay in Austria, with the excitement of our impending visit to Germany. Before we arrive in Munich, we make a sobering stop at Dachau Concentration Camp memorial to remember Germany's turbulent past. A city renowned for its annual beer festival is a city we need to know about. And luckily, Munich doesn't just turn it on during Oktoberfest, with Bavarian culture – and beer - flowing all summer long. Grab a snap of the famous Glockenspiel clock, explore peaceful gardens or join a bike tour to explore the side streets. A drive from Prague to Berlin would not be complete without stopping in Dresden. Destroyed by World War II, the rebuilt town is now a symbol of resilience, soaked in the rebirthed beauty of an Opera house, the domed Frauenkirche, & the Royal Residence. On the world map of party vibes, Berlin has a gold star. We've got two nights to explore every inch of this iconic city and we'll kick it off with a tour to learn about its troubled but fascinating past. During your trip, they will operate with a duty of care and monitor the hygiene etiquette of the guests, reacting and advising as needed, to ensure high standards are maintained. Before you travel, Contiki will also keep you well informed about new protocols required in these areas, and ask that you cooperate with and heed the advice and direction of Travel Directors while on your trip. The Travel Directors have preventative measures in place to try and ensure your well-being and in the event that any unexpected issues arise on trip, they will activate additional protocols.
Stringent On-the-Road ProtocolsThe customized luxury coaches are sanitised before the start of your trip and have always been kept to very high standards. Following the outbreak of COVID-19, Contiki have taken additional measures to elevate hygiene and sanitary practices in accordance with guidance from the World Health Organisation (WHO) and as required, applicable government regulations. The Driver training provides them with the latest hygiene protocols. They will clean and disinfect all surfaces including handrails, door handles, tables, seats, air-conditioning filters and overhead lockers on a daily basis. All the guests are asked to follow hygiene practices recommended by the World Health Organisation including the thorough and regular washing of hands and sanitising when required. Hand sanitiser is freely available on board for your use throughout the day. Please bring your own washable face mask and gloves with you, and additional hand sanitiser to make you feel comfortable, as these will be required to be worn in public in some countries. Should an unexpected situation arise, additional face masks, rubber gloves, antiviral sprays and wipes will be available for guest distribution on all trips.

We were lucky that the group of people with were good, but it was a large group tour and did have some of the downfalls of a trip of that nature, like frequent breaks for the bathroom, difficulty when eating out together, and getting things on and off the coach. The trip was still great and a good value for the money.
It was a good value and the experiences included were worth it. The only part that wasn't the best were the accommodations as it was hit and miss. Half of the hotels on the trip were okay, and the other half were really nice.
