Visit the Delta Blues Museum, dedicated to exploring the history and heritage of this unique American musical art form and masters of the art, including Muddy Waters and Sam Cooke. Peruse historical images, artifacts, musical instruments, and the cabin where Muddy Waters lived as a sharecropper. Enjoy a photo stop at the “Cross Roads,” where legendary blues guitarist Robert Johnson sold his soul to the devil in exchange for the best musical talent. After lunch, continue to Greenwood, where many of its buildings are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. We really enjoyed this trip it was a lot of fun and we learned a lot. The only negative report has to do with the Doubletree Hotel in Memphis. It wasn't up to par with most Doubletree Hotels. The windows were filthy, our room had rusty lamps in it. It was just a little bit tacky. The Friday's restaurant was iffy at best. They were out of many things on the buffet at 7:30 AM and the staff was not up to the task of clearing the tables, pouring coffee etc. Poor service. The staff at the front desk was friendly and helpful. The hotel needs updating. The optional Cajun dinner and dancing night out was overpriced. $54.00 per person for a very average dinner was ridiculous. The dance instructors were very friendly and helpful, the music was good so it was an enjoyable evening but I just felt it was overpriced.

We really enjoyed this music-themed trip. It covered highlights like the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, recording studios in Nashville and Memphis, Graceland, and Beale Street. Very special were the two days we spent in the Mississippi Delta and its connection to blues music. Mississippi was what decided us on the Globus trip rather than similar trips by other companies, and we were not disappointed!
