Welcome to ReykjavÃk Stays With StoriesYour epic journey through lush lava fields and the windswept landscapes of Iceland begins in the quirky capital of ReykjavÃk. The northernmost capital of the world seems infused with vivid color, from the bustling byway of Laugavegur to the enthusiasm of the city's friendly locals. Spend time exploring Iceland's Viking heritage, pay tribute to the sun and snap a selfie in front of The Sun Voyager or stroll around the lively Old Harbor, before meeting your Travel Director and fellow travelers at 18:00 for a drink and Canapes to kick-start your love affair with Iceland. Journey to Reykholt and on to BorganesExplore the small capital city of ReykjavÃk on a sightseeing tour with your Travel Director this morning. View all the city's major attractions including the Parliament, the Harpa Concert Hall, and the city's main landmark, the HallgrÃmskirkja Church, perched at the top of a hill in the heart of the city. Leave the city behind and travel through the undersea tunnel Hvalfjörðr to Akranes, whose local Folk Museum you visit before enjoying views of the rugged coastline from the town’s lighthouse. View Deildartunguhver, Europe’s highest-flowing hot spring, followed by a visit to Reykholt, famously the former 13th-century home of one of Iceland’s most loved authors, Snorri Sturluson. Nature takes center stage this afternoon, when you view Hraunfoss and nearby Barnafoss, both beautiful waterfalls in their own right and a soul-stirring way to end your day.Accommodation: B59

Day 3
A Day to Explore the Snæfellsnes PeninsulaBundle up warmly as you make your way to the wild, sea swept landscapes of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula this morning. You’ll soon discover why the Peninsula is fondly referred to as 'Iceland in miniature' for encompassing every one of Iceland’s most magnificent natural treasures - volcanoes, lava fields, glaciers, waterfalls and more - in just 55 miles (90 km). Explore on your own or consider joining an Optional Experience on a cruise of Breiðafjörður Bay. Soak up the sights, sample Viking ‘sushi’ and marvel at the quaint fishing villages and black sand beaches. Keep your eyes peeled for the star of the show, the Snæfellsjökull glacier. The beautifully shaped stratovolcano is known as the location for Jules Verne's novel 'Journey to the Center of the Earth'. Onwards through Thingvellir National Park to Gullfoss, Geysir and Selfoss Connect with LocalsAs you travel around Iceland’s 'Golden Circle’, Mother Nature’s magic touch can be seen around every turn. Visit the 'Golden Waterfall' of Gullfoss, saved at the turn of the last century by the tenacity of a farmer's daughter who threatened to throw herself into its depths if it was developed for hydroelectric power. Then, head to the world-famous hot spring area of Geysir and see Strokkur shoot a spectacular plume of water and steam high into the air. You’ll see first-hand how the movements of the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates have carved into the Earth's crust, in the UNESCO-listed Thingvellir National Park. This evening, Connect With Locals with a local storyteller and her songwriter husband, and delve into their colorful family history, then join them for dinner at an exclusive Be My Guest experience. In this new, fast changing Covid-19 era, Trafalgar is doing all they can to adapt to new requirements and expectations. Here are some important new steps and procedures that they have implemented to enhance hygiene protocols, to comply with physical distancing requirements by relevant government authorities and to give you the peace of mind when you are traveling during these new times.
Expertly Trained Travel DirectorsTravel Director training equips them with enhanced hygiene and physical distancing procedures. During your trip, they will operate with a duty of care and monitor the hygiene etiquette of the guests, reacting and advising as needed, to ensure high standards are maintained. Before you travel, Trafalgar will also keep you well informed about new protocols required in these areas, and ask that you cooperate with and heed the advice and direction of Travel Directors while on your trip. The Travel Directors have preventative measures in place to try and ensure your well-being and in the event that any unexpected issues arise on trip, they will activate additional protocols.
Stringent On-the-Road ProtocolsThe customized luxury coaches are sanitised before the start of your trip and have always been kept to very high standards. Following the outbreak of COVID-19, Trafalgar have taken additional measures to elevate hygiene and sanitary practices in accordance with guidance from the World Health Organisation (WHO) and as required, applicable government regulations. The Driver training provides them with the latest hygiene protocols. They will clean and disinfect all surfaces including handrails, door handles, tables, seats, air-conditioning filters and overhead lockers on a daily basis. All the guests are asked to follow hygiene practices recommended by the World Health Organisation including the thorough and regular washing of hands and sanitising when required. Hand sanitiser is freely available on board for your use throughout the day. Please bring your own washable face mask and gloves with you, and additional hand sanitiser to make you feel comfortable, as these will be required to be worn in public in some countries. Should an unexpected situation arise, additional face masks, rubber gloves, antiviral sprays and wipes will be available for guest distribution on all trips.
