DAY 1, Friday - Depart for Ecuador
Depart for Ecuador. Arrive in Quito, capital of Ecuador, and transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure

DAY 2, Saturday - "Middle of the World" Monument, Amazon Lodge
This morning after an orientation meeting, visit to the impressive "Middle of the World" monument at the Equator, which marks latitude 0º. Here, you can stand with one foot in the Northern and one in the Southern Hemisphere! After a stop at a local restaurant for lunch, continue to Tena. Here, you board a motorized canoe for about 30 minutes and arrive to your Amazon lodge overlooking the river. Tonight, enjoy dinner with your fellow travelers

DAY 3, Sunday - Amazon Adventure Day
Arise early this morning, if you wish to join the excursion to the parrot clay licks. These unique walls of mud, rich in minerals, attract hundreds of colorful parrots every day. Later, a hike along the nature trail to view jungle life up-close. The hike will require some steep climbs and can be strenuous at times. Only those who feel comfortable on the wet, muddy and uneven ground should consider this excursion. After lunch, float on inner tubes winding slowly down the Arajuno River. Return to the lodge in time for dinner, followed by a night walk that introduces you to the sounds of the Amazon. Walk through the rainforest in the dark using flashlights and look out for tarantulas, frogs, and other nocturnal creatures

DAY 4, Monday - Visit a Quecha Community, Papallacta Hot Springs
Today, visit a local Quechua community to learn about their tribal customs and hear stories of everyday Amazonian life. After a tasting and demonstration of homemade chocolates, return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, travel to Papallacta, tucked away in the Andes Mountains, known for its hot springs. Early evening arrival at your hotel with the opportunity to relax and unwind in one of the hot thermal pools. Tonight, bid farewell to your Tour Manager at a traditional Ecuadorian dinner

    Passengers should select flights that arrive in Quito Airport before 11 PM and depart the morning of Day 5 after 7 AM. Transfers depart the hotel approximately 5 hours prior to flight time. Therefore, any flights departing before 7 AM will require a transfer on Day 4 or shortly after midnight on Day 5.

    Please note that during nighttime hours the Itamandi EcoLodge operates on stored solar power. The power is not always consistent which makes operating large electronic devices like CPAP machines impossible.

    The Gate 1 Discovery tours are very good and well worth the extra cost. We had only 16 participants on the trip and everyone got along well. They used the large bus and everyone had their own seat if they wanted it. The hotels on trip were above average.

    Great trip for those that want to visit Normandie and the Mediterranean Coast of France. Plenty of time for lunches and shopping at most stops. Nice to have two nights at each stop.

    Our travel advisor was great and was very friendly and responsive to all of our many questions. She made us feel at ease as she walked us through the process. The Gate 1 Tour Guide and driver for our trip were absolutely wonderful, they really added to the amazing experience we had for the two weeks.     This trip was fantastic. My wife and I are indeed quite pleased with the entire trip. Iceland is very beautiful. We saw more than what was in the itinerary. The Tour Manager was excellent, no doubt about that. She made few stops on the way where the scenery was perfect for pictures or just for enjoying the nature. The actual tour started on the morning of day 2, after breakfast. We did not feel rushed when we went sightseeing. Lunch was arranged for us when we were in remote places. Every day, we were in the hotel before 6 pm so that there was enough time to rest/sleep after dinner or go outside for a walk after dinner (it was bright even after 11:30 pm in July). The local people are very friendly and all of them speak English. We have made many trips with Gate1 Travels in the past and we have not been disappointed and we plan to continue to use Gate1Travels in future.

    This is my 2nd tour trip with Gate 1 and I only have praises for their completed outstanding services. Everything was planned for just to ensure our enjoyment and security. They even have the extra arrangements for any assistance in emergency medical conditions. My husband came down with the early stage of pneumonia and the tour guide helped us from going to the hospital and staying with us the whole time and also got the local medical staff provided by Gate 1 to assist every single steps along the way. They even drove us to the pharmacy at midnight after the hospital discharged.
