DAY 2, Friday - Arrive in Budapest
Arrive in Budapest, the capital city of Hungary that straddles the Danube River, with the Buda Hills to the west and Pest to the east. Transfer to your hotel and spend the balance of the day at leisure. Your tour will begin with an orientation meeting with your Tour Manager at approximately 6 PM, followed by dinner. We recommend that you select flights which arrive no later than 4 PM

DAY 3, Saturday - Budapest City Tour & Christmas Market
Take a morning city tour of Budapest. Begin in Pest and continue to view the Parliament, Heroes' Square, and Market Hall before crossing the Danube to the Buda Hills. Here, see the Royal Palace, and visit the 13th century Matthias Church. Proceed to the Fisherman's Bastion for enthralling panoramic views of the city. Free time to browse Budapest's Christmas market, filled with wooden stalls richly decorated with traditional wares. Later, join the optional Danube dinner cruise

DAY 4, Sunday - Zagreb Christmas Market, Ljubljana
This morning, depart Budapest and travel towards Ljubljana. Along the way, stop in the charming city of Zagreb, capital of Croatia. Walk through the historic center, and visit the Christmas market. Learn about Croatian Christmas traditions and shop for homemade Croatian Christmas ornaments. Afterward, continue your drive and cross into Slovenia. Arrive in Ljubljana late in the afternoon and check into the hotel, for dinner and overnight

DAY 5, Monday - Ljubljana City Tour & Christmas Market
Begin the day with a walking tour of Ljubljana. View its open-air market; the Baroque Venetian inspired City Hall, Robba Fountain, the Triple Bridge, which connects the old and new cities, and the Parliament. The afternoon is free to discover the Christmas markets at the Preseren Square, along the Ljubljanica River. Perhaps, join the optional Radovljica & Bled tour. Walk along the cobbled streets of the medieval town of Radovljica, with its preserved moat. Later, head to Bled for a walking tour through the charming town and visit the Christmas market

DAY 6, Tuesday - Graz City Tour & Christmas Market, Travel to Vienna
Today, depart Ljubljana and drive to Graz, a historic city in southern Austria. During the walking tour, view the major sights of the city including the 15th century cathedral, Opera House, medieval clock tower and Altstadt (Old Town) a UNESCO World Heritage. Continue to Landhaus with its beautiful Renaissance architecture, home to the provincial parliament of Styria. Enjoy free time to browse the Christmas markets with a variety of stalls full of decorations, Styrian handicrafts, holiday gifts and gingerbread. Later, travel to Vienna. Arrive late in the afternoon and check into the hotel

DAY 7, Wednesday - Vienna City Tour & Christmas Market
Embark on a panoramic tour of Vienna. View Ringstrasse, Vienna's main boulevard, Hofburg Palace, the Opera House, the monument of Empress Maria Theresia, Votive Church, City Hall, Parliament, and Musikverein, the music hall of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. Spend the afternoon exploring Vienna's Christmas markets. Perhaps, participate in the optional tour to Bratislava, capital of Slovakia. Time to explore the historic center of this charming city before returning to Vienna

DAY 8, Thursday - Full Day in Vienna
Spend the day at leisure to explore Vienna's Christmas markets. In the afternoon perhaps, join the optional tour to Schönbrunn Palace, once summer residence of the Habsburgs. Visit the gorgeous Baroque apartments and stroll through the manicured gardens. Be sure to stop at a café to sample the famous Viennese Sacher Torte before returning to the hotel. The Gate 1 Discovery tours are very good and well worth the extra cost. We had only 16 participants on the trip and everyone got along well. They used the large bus and everyone had their own seat if they wanted it. The hotels on trip were above average.
Great trip for those that want to visit Normandie and the Mediterranean Coast of France. Plenty of time for lunches and shopping at most stops. Nice to have two nights at each stop.
