DAY 2, Tuesday - Arrive in Bucharest
Arrive in Bucharest, the capital of Romania. Transfer to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure. Your tour will begin with an orientation meeting with your Tour Manager at approximately 6 PM, followed by a light dinner. We recommend that you select flights which arrive no later than 4 PM

DAY 3, Wednesday - Bucharest City Tour, Christmas Market
The tour begins at the impressive Palace of the Parliament. Then, head to Revolution Square before continuing north to view Bucharest's Arch of Triumph, built to commemorate the bravery of Romanian soldiers who fought in WWI. The balance of the day is at leisure to explore the festive Christmas market

DAY 4, Thursday - Cozia Monastery, Sibiu Old Town & Christmas Market
Journey along the Wallachian Plains and through the Olt Valley into the historical region of Transylvania. On the way, stop to visit Cozia Monastery. See original frescoes and the tomb of the ruler Mircea cel Batran, who built the monastery in the late 1300s. In the afternoon, arrive in Sibiu. During your walking tour, view the Old Town which features The Brukenthal National Museum, the Great Square, Huet Square, Liar's Bridge and Goldsmiths' Square. Sibiu boasts one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in Eastern Europe. Take time to browse the stalls full of decorations and holiday gifts. Tonight, dinner is at the hotel

DAY 5, Friday - Rasinari Tram
Board the historic tram that takes you to the traditional village of Rasinari. On arrival, savor local products and mulled wine. Afterward, drive back to Sibiu and spend the afternoon at leisure, or join the optional Sibiel village with dinner in a local farmhouse

DAY 6, Saturday - Medieval Sighisoara, Brasov & Christmas Market
This morning, travel further into the heart of Transylvania, passing by Saxon towns and villages. Stop in Sighisoara, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Begin an orientation tour of the medieval center. Stroll along cobblestone streets, passing by the covered stairs, the clock tower and Vlad Dracul House, where Vlad the Impaler, aka Dracula supposedly was born. Afterward, cross the Carpathian Mountains and travel through Covasna County to medieval Brasov. Take an orientation tour of the city with its cobbled streets, imposing watchtowers and Baroque buildings. Later, spend time at the enchanting Christmas market, held in the Old Town Square, surrounded by a scenic backdrop of Baroque architecture, giving a delightful charm to the numerous wooden stalls selling original ware and festive treats

DAY 7, Sunday - Bran Castle
Begin your day with a drive to Bran to visit the famous medieval Bran Castle, shrouded by mystery and legend. The castle, located on a rocky promontory was made famous by Bram Stoker's novel Dracula. Admire the imposing towers and wander the castle's Gothic chambers. Get insight into the history of the castle and hear stories about Count Dracula. After, return to Brasov with time at leisure

DAY 8, Monday - Peles Castle, Bucharest
This morning, stop in Sinaia, en route to Bucharest. Here, visit the romantic Peles Castle, former summer residence of Romania's first royal family. The castle is a masterpiece of German Neo-Renaissance architecture. Its 160 rooms are decorated with the finest examples of European art. Later, continue to Bucharest. Upon arrival, check into your hotel with free time to further explore the Christmas markets for last minute gift ideas. Tonight, at dinner, bid farewell to your Tour Manager

The Gate 1 Discovery tours are very good and well worth the extra cost. We had only 16 participants on the trip and everyone got along well. They used the large bus and everyone had their own seat if they wanted it. The hotels on trip were above average.
Great trip for those that want to visit Normandie and the Mediterranean Coast of France. Plenty of time for lunches and shopping at most stops. Nice to have two nights at each stop.
