A wonderful tour throughout Portugal. Our Tour Director was extremely knowledgeable and a wonderful person.
Globus Escapes are an economical way to travel during the off season. For me, I often prefer the off-season because there are fewer crowds. I especially appreciate the local tour guides in each area.
That was our first experience with Globus as we've been traveling with Gate 1 believing to that company better service. We chose Globus for Portugal tour because its itinerary was better for our interest. To our surprise we founded that Globus service, hotels, tour guides and provided dinners were as good as it would be with Gate1. The group was larger than we expected, 42 people, but our tour director did such a good job, that we never felt overcrowded. We would recommend Portuguese Escape to everyone. We had an awesome experience.
Great price for this outstanding tour
I was pleasantly surprised that all covid protocols were followed and everyone went home safe.
Because it was Portugal, there were lots of hills and steps. We could mange them okay and the bus worked hard to pick us up as close as possible. We had great local guides that added so much to our understanding of the country and people. We appreciated all the built in meals.
The trip was wonderful, especially the places we visited, amazing views. Highly recommended.
The tour director was very organized, concerned especially about covid-19 . She was so friendly, happy and helpful tour guide.
Post covid travel have changed, but the Tour guide managed well.
We really enjoyed our tour amidst all the chaos with the current crisis. Rita, our guide, was excellent!
The Portugal excursion was truly fantastic and unforgettable. Every detail was comprehensively covered by the Travel Agency. The Portugal Tour Director Jorge and his staff were extremely professional, knowledgeable, accommodating and meticulous in ensuring that all our needs were met. The overall Tours were wonderful; even though many of them dealt with Churches/Monasteries the historical information made them all seem unique and interesting. The optional tours were great especially; Fado Music and Dinner in Lisbon and the Douro River Cruise in Porto. All meals were varied, delicious and offered a great insight into the culinary delights and various national dishes of Portugal. The accommodations at the various hotels were quite good. However, there was a significant amount of walking and meandering through the cobbled stone streets of the different towns and villages that I found very enjoyable but persons with knee/leg/hip issues found this a bit challenging. This tour captured a great deal of the historical, architectural, social, cultural, culinary and general aspects of Portugal (a hidden gem). I would definitely recommend this as a Must Take tour. The weather was good, mornings usually started a bit chilly but quickly rose to warm delightful days. This Portugal excursion went beyond our expectations.
GREAT TRIP
This was our first Globus tour and we were very impressed. The selection of hotels, with the exception of the Mercure Lisboa was outstanding. The Mercure has a great staff, but the rooms are noisy from the corridors, through the walls and from outside. The length and venues of the tour were excellent, and the local guides very interesting and knowledgeable. The amount of free time was also good for individual exploring or shopping. All in all, it was a wonderful experience.
The tour had a lot of wasted time traveling and making stops that were too short and also not necessary. The guide was not the best guide I have ever had. He seemed lazy and not knowing what was going on in the areas along with not well organized when we got to the hotels. I would have expected him to have had better relationships with people at each stop.
Good off season tour. It was a little rainy and cold but the crowds had thinned.
Affordable srvc great as usual. Globus trip was well run, but i did not appreciate Globus putting it on sale AFTER we purchased.
Great guide and bus driver. Hotels were in or close to city. Good amount of dinners. Hotels could better help with bathroom facilities by providing non-slip tub mats and grab bars for safety. All dinners were good to great except one hotel that left all bones in meat and fish and I almost chocked. Good value and a great country to visit.
The tour director was very efficient in accommodating our needs.
A great value and good trip. Globus is always very professional.
Globus exceeded my expectations. Tour guides were very good, local and our guide for the tour. Mostly, hotels were very good. Novatel screwed up our initial reservation and blamed globus but we're pretty sure it was Novatel. All got fixed, after 1.5 hours of waiting for them to fix it. Rest of tour was great. Lots of dinners included with included wine. Fun to get to know people frpm other parts of the world.
Had some second thoughts about one of the hotels, but all things considered they were acceptable.
It was a great trip. Thank you for offering a trip early in the year and at such a great price. I particularly liked that you waived single supplement charges for this trip.
I had a great time on the Globus Portuguese Escape 2018 tour. I was apprehensive at first as I was traveling alone and the tour was mostly mature couples but I quickly made friends. Everyone was friendly and had great travel stories. The bus was modern and comfortable with free WiFi and USB charging ports. Our tour guide, Miguel, was knowledgeable and attentive. The hotels were above average with the NH Collection in Porto being the highlight. The bar & restaurant were fabulous (shoutout to Bruno & the shrimp risotto). I saw and experienced much more than I expected (castles, palaces, wineries, monasteries, cloisters, churches, Fátima candle procession, Fado, cork factory) and at an incredible value.
The Portuguese Escape trip was absolutely wonderful. The country is so beautiful and the people are welcoming and gracious. The food is awesome - best I have had. This trip is a MUST!! Also, our tour director Pedro and driver Manuel were the best. They both made our trip even better with their kindness, courteous, and helpfulness every day. They are experts and we learned so much about the country, its history, and its people. Thank you!
The Globus Portuguese Escape tour exceeded our expectations. The accommodations and food were much better than we expected. Our tour guide was very informative and personable with a fantastic attitude everyday. We couldn't have asked for any more from this tour!
I had a wonderful travel experience, with few exceptions. The price of the trip was phenomenal for all that we received and for that reason alone, I would recommend Affordable Tours/Globus. The meals were delicious, the breakfasts outrageous (two A.M.s we had Mimosas!!!!). The few complaints I had are as follows: Apparently the tours were overbooked and therefore we were split into two groups. Fortunately for us, we were in the first group and our hotels were consistent with the itinerary. Others were not so lucky. The bus was pretty cramped w/little leg room. We are both rather tall and we had some difficulty with the leg room. Other than that, it was comfortable. It rained our entire trip and on Day 7, we were supposed to see a Medieval Castle. It was raining so hard and it was so windy it was nearly impossible to go to see it. I believe some of these excursions in the elements should be "weather permitting." The tours that were inside buildings were wonderful. I thoroughly enjoyed this Portugal trip and would definitely recommend it to others. Thank you for such a great experience!!!
The tour was mostly seniors and mostly couples. Thankfully there were five single women who were a bit younger like myself. I heard that is not always the case. The guide and bus driver were excellent and I was very pleased. However, we did more wining and dining than I would have liked and no art museums. In the end I heard the tour guide saying she noticed our group liked food and wine the best so that was what she focused on. I wish she had had us write down our preferences in the beginning.
Overall the tour was quite good. Excellent tour director and coach driver. Although. Outlet of hotels were not that good, the rest were very good. It rained most of the days and, I know it is beyond our control. I really enjoyed the tour and the excursions.
In Portugal a couple of the hotels were not up to 3 or 4 stars. Very warm and extremely small.
The Globus Portugal Escape was a wonderful trip. However, there was a lot of walking on uneven ground as most of the walkways were cobblestone, and the towns were often hilly (both up and down). Be prepared with good walking shoes or boots. The history is rich in Portugal and the tours of castles and cathedrals were very interesting. Our Globus guide was very knowledgable, as were the local guides. The hotels were comfortable and well-located for exploring on your own.

I enjoyed 95 percent of the tour. The guide was VERY knowledgeable, professional, and courteous. The driver was excellent and punctual. The hotels were good in many aspects, except for the MATTRESSES. They were ALL SUPER SOFT AND SAGGY. I enjoyed the food as well, and staff at the hotels was amazingly helpful. The towns and sites visited were all fascinating to me, EXCEPT for NAZARE and TOMAR. What a waste of time...... Overall GLOBUS seems to be one of the best operators. Our group had 44 people, and many had taken several trips with GLOBUS.
