Having traveled via escorted coach tours in the past, I know that more time than desirable can be spent on a bus. My husband and I were disappointed in seeing so little of Vancouver. First, we flew into Toronto at 8:15 a.m. and had to wait while at least two other flights took off for Vancouver. We didn't fly out until afternoon. Since this was the longest leg of our trip, we didn't arrive to the hotel in Vancouver until 5:30 p.m. To count this day as day one of our tour is completely unrealistic. Secondly, arriving at each stop later in the day and sometimes staying only one night, is really not seeing the destination at all. Two nights at the Inn on Thompson Lake Resort (making the wildlife sanctuary optional) and one night in Jasper would be preferable to at least half our group of 50. The 25 hours it took us to fly a 4 and one-half hour flight on our return was disgraceful. We sat in Calgary Airport from 11:30 a.m. until 12:35 a.m. the following morning. We lugged our suitcases for nearly nine of those 13 hours. We were not cleared through security. How is that making travel safer? Lower fairs or not, I will book my own flight itinerary going forward.
