Tour Itinerary

Explore the colourful cities of Rajasthan, uncover ancient forts, discover a traditional way of life, revel in the stunning beauty of the Taj Mahal, wander the serene canals of Udaipur, Embark on a safari in Ranthambore National Park

Travelling through Rajasthan is like walking through a kaleidoscope. Everywhere you look, colours dance before your eyes — from saris drying on riverbeds to the sunsets of Udaipur, from the spice market in Jodhpur to the white marble of the Taj Mahal. Uncover the secrets of romantic Rajasthan on this 15-day tour of the colourful Indian state. Marvel at the rampart views from Jodphur's Meherangarh Fort, enjoy a safari in Ranthambore National Park, and then soak in the relaxed atmosphere of Udaipur. Your expert CEO will take care of the hassles — and travel days are well-paced and include private transport, so you'll hit the sights refreshed. Be prepared to fall in love with India!

Day 1: Delhi
Arrive at any time.
Activity: Transfer by a G Adventures-supported project, Women With Wheels. This program provides safe and reliable transport for travellers, while providing a dignified livelihood for local women who once lacked financial opportunities.
Activity: Your opportunity to meet your CEO and fellow travellers, and learn more about your tour. Opt to join the group for a local meal afterwards. Don't forget to see the notice in the lobby (or ask reception) for the official time and place to meet up with the group.
Accommodation: Hotel Metropolitan, New Delhi (or similar)

Day 2: Delhi
Embark on a morning walking tour of Delhi led by a local youth guide—part of the G Adventures-supported City Walk project assisting at-risk youth—and gain a unique perspective of this bustling city. Later, wander through Old Delhi, visiting the colourful spice markets, Jama Masjid, Connaught Place, Chandni Chowk, and explore the history of the Sikh religion at Gurduwara Sis Ganj. In the evening, board an overnight train to Jodphur.
Activity: Explore the streets of Delhi with a youth-led tour guide from the G Adventures-supported City Walk project. As a former at-risk youth, your local guide will have a unique perspective on the city and can provide more information on the life of a child in India. The guided tour helps support the guide's college or university tuition. Please note that City Walk is closed on Sundays and holidays and this activity will not run on those days.
Activity: Travel through the winding roads of Old Delhi to visit the gorgeous Jama Masjid, the Great Mosque of Delhi. Commissioned by Shah Jahan, the Mughal emperor who also commissioned the Taj Mahal, it is the best-known and largest mosque in India. Explore the stately structure, which was completed in 1656, and enjoy its massive courtyard, which can hold 25,000 worshippers.
Activity: Enjoy a stroll through Chandni Chowk, one of India's oldest and busiest markets. Be sure to stop and try one of the many types of paranthas (stuffed Indian bread) sold in stalls lining the streets.
Activity: Learn the history of the Sikh religion at this historically significant Gurdwara, which is a Sikh place of worship.
Free Time: Make the most of your time in this architecturally splendid and culturally charming capital city.
Transport: Experience overnight travel like a local. Sit back and get some well-earned (and likely much-needed) rest en route to your next stop.

Day 3: Jodhpur
Arrive early in Jodhpur, the second largest city in Rajasthan, often called the "Blue City" for the vast number of houses painted in the colour. Take a short climb to the top of a hill on the outskirts of the city to reach the Mehrangarh Fort, one of the largest forts in India. Later, wander around Old City with its clock tower and Sadar Bazaar, one of the oldest markets in India.
Activity: Visit this breathtakingly beautiful fort located at the top of a cliff, which offers a stunning view of the "Blue City" of Jodhpur below. Learn about the many battles fought there and get a sense of what it was like to be Rajasthani royalty by visiting its well-stocked museum.
Activity: Wander through the market of Sadar Bazaar and pick up some of the wonderful handicrafts and gorgeous antiques Jodhpur is famous for. Glass bangles, cutlery, carpets, and products made of marble are some of the most popular items you can find here.
Accommodation: Marvel Umed (or similar)

Day 4: Jodhpur/Udaipur
Travel on to Udaipur and take an orientation walk, including a visit to Lake Pichola. In the evening, attend a Rajasthani cultural show at the Bagore-ki-Haveli Folk Museum on Gangaur Ghat.
Transport: Settle in and scan the scenery from the convenience of a private vehicle.
Activity: Go on a guided orientation walk and get to know local markets and key places.
Activity: A haveli is a private mansion and this particular one has been converted into a folk museum, displaying costumes and modern art. The palace, with over 100 rooms, is on the waterfront at the Gangaur Ghat. Enjoy a cultural show here and learn more about the local customs.
Accommodation: Hotel Royal Dezire Udaipur (or similar)

Day 5: Udaipur

Free Time: Don't waste a minute—get out and explore.
Accommodation: Hotel Royal Dezire Udaipur (or similar)

Day 6: Udaipur/Jojawar
Journey to rural Jojawar and take an orientation walk of the village. Undiscovered by most travellers, explore this small village on foot and gain insight into life in rural India. Join an impromptu game of cricket with the local people or travel by vintage car or train safari through the surrounding hills.
Transport: Settle in and scan the scenery from the convenience of a private vehicle.
Activity: Enjoy a walk in Jojawar, a small yet charming village near the Aravalli Range that is often left off the tourist itinerary. Meet the friendly locals and learn more about the way of life in this rural part of India.
Accommodation: Hotel Rawla Jojawar (or similar)
Meal(s): Dinner

Day 7: Jojawar/Pushkar
Travel through Ajmer and over Snake Mountain to Pushkar, one of the holiest Hindu pilgrimage sites in the world. Take an orientation walk, including the lake, ghats, and the 14th-century Brahma Temple. This evening, embark on a sunset camel ride out into the dessert.
Transport: Settle in and scan the scenery from the convenience of a private vehicle.
Activity: Enjoy a brief walk with your CEO. He/she will give you some tips on finding things like supermarkets, main squares, and ATMs. For more specific or in-depth information, an official guided tour is recommended.
Activity: Visit the world's only temple dedicated to Brahma, the Hindu god of creation, which draws pilgrims from all over India and around the world.

Accommodation: Hotel New Park (or similar)

Day 9: Pushkar/Jaipur
In the morning, travel to Jaipur—one of the most important heritage cities in India—commonly known as "The Pink City." Take an afternoon orientation walk, then continue exploring on your own. A visit to Jaipur wouldn't be complete without catching a Bollywood film in the spectacular Art Deco film house — the Raj Mandir Cinema.
Transport: Settle in and scan the scenery from the convenience of a private vehicle.
Activity: Head to the markets of this "Pink City," the capital of Rajasthan, and one of the most important heritage cities in India on this CEO-led orientation walk.

The Fort's sandstone walls are perched on a hill almost blending in with the terrain, besides perfectly reflecting in Maota Lake creating a mirage effect (and perfect photograph). Great trip at a reasonable price.

Awesome trip in a great country. Our CEO was professional and fun!!!

G adventures offers hands down some of the best tour packages out there!

The Japan vacation was better than I expected!!!! It was an active "moving" trip, which I truly enjoyed. I've done "coach tours" where you sit on the bus and they take you -- this experience was "hands on" riding the buses, trains and running through the streets -- it was amazing !!!!! We got the full feel of Japan and the people. This trip is not for the weak or slow pace crowd - you drag your luggage through the streets, up and down stairs --- it was truly exciting and exhilarating. G adventures has a fan for life. The instructions and assistance was outstanding -- Great job - Steve (AffordableTours.com) was outstanding !
