I took the 7 night Western Caribbean cruise on Royal Caribbean’s Liberty of the Seas this summer with my parents and both my kids, ages 15 and 13, and we had the BEST time! It was definitely a vacation that we will never stop talking about and one we want to repeat ASAP!

We embarked on the ship in Galveston and since my kids had never been on a cruise before, they were instantly in awe of what the ship looked like on the inside. They kept saying it was like an entire city on water.

The first 2 nights were spent at sea and so we go to know the ship inside and out! We explored every restaurant, pizza, Johnny Rockets, Ben and Jerry’s, the main dining room, the steak, the coffee and sandwich shop, and our favorite, the Windjammer! The Windjammer was the main buffet and the variety was out of this world. We still talk about the Windjammer!

Our first stop was Cozumel, Mexico. We had signed up for the Dolphin experience and were taken by bus to a dolphin enclosure where we kissed and swam with dolphins and got to feed them. It was amazing!  Afterwards, we were treated to a Mexican buffet for lunch before heading back to the ship.

That night we dined in the main dining hall. We did so the next night as well. Then, it was back to dining in the Windjammer, where it was a bit more casual and there was a wider variety of foods to eat.

The next morning, we woke up in Grand Cayman. Here, we enjoyed an excursion on the Amphibious Bus Tour. This is a bus ride through the city, until the bus becomes a boat and goes into the water! While on the boat, we got to feed fish and see old ship wrecks via an underwater camera installed on the bottom of the boat/bus. Before heading back to the ship, we stopped at a resort for drinks and snacks and a short dip in the ocean. This beach was my favorite. The sand was clean, the water cool and blue. Gorgeous.

Our last stop was Falmouth, Jamaica.  Here, we chose an excursion that took us to the Jewel Resort and Spa for an all-inclusive day of food, drinks, beach, and an attached water park. The beach was nice, but my kids and I enjoyed the water park and the huge slides they had. The food was really good too.

The last 2 nights we spent on the ship. These were my favorite. It’s so easy to relax and enjoy your vacation when you have no agenda. We played bingo, watched an ice skating show, watched the Broadway show Saturday Night Fever and ate entirely too much! My kids played a lot of basketball, ping pong, rode the water slides, soaked in the hot tubs, ordered room service, shopped, played in the arcade and played putt-putt golf. They also enjoyed all the DreamWorks characters that danced in a parade. On the last night, there was a 70’s dance party on the Promenade deck that was so much fun!

All in all, I would HIGHLY recommend this cruise to anyone!! My family and I will definitely be back again, and we CAN’T WAIT!!
