Review: 7 Night Western Caribbean With Royal Caribbean

By: Dawn Bellis, Senior Travel Consultant

Royal Caribbean has done it again! We went to the Western Caribbean with Royal Caribbean on Liberty of the Seas for spring break and now the whole family cannot wait to go back!

We first stopped in Cozumel, Mexico. Mr. Sanchos Beach is a very popular place to be. They have an aquatic park, ATV rentals, horseback riding, wave runners and parasailing. You can also rent snorkel gear as well. You would have to book this excursion early because it fills up fast. They make the best ceviche I have ever had.

Next stop on our family adventure was Grand Cayman. Grand Cayman is mostly known for three things, Seven Mile Beach (that is really not seven miles long), the turtle farm and a place they call Hell. Oh, one more thing is stingray city. The turtle farm is a place that has changed over the years. Now you can actually get into some of the tanks and swim with the turtles.

Falmouth, Jamaica was our last stop before heading back home. To be honest I just wanted to stay on the ship but after doing a great deal of research came across a nice beach with an aquatic park. Most people would go to the falls or bob sledding but we just found a very quiet almost private beach.

I have been on many cruises with Royal Caribbean. All of the ships might be different in sizes but all are similar in many ways. We went to breakfast and dinner in the main dining room everyday. For breakfast I would get there right when they open just so you don’t have to wait.

For dinner we had my time dining. Before we left I put everyone down for dinner at 545pm. One night we got there at 515pm, but most nights at 530pm. We were able to sit at the same table with the same wait staff every night. I will tell you because of the wait staff on this ship, our family trip went from good to exceeding all expectations. When you travel with kids it is all about the little things and those people all knew what they were doing. The head waiter would cut my toddlers food just so I could enjoy my hot soup. The assistant waiter made napkin animals for my ten year old which she will cherish for years. Since the kids looked forward to dinner every night, so did the adults. We did also go to the Character breakfast that was fun. We did see characters all around the ship.

We did get a coffee card which came with I think 16 drinks. Those drinks only include the small sizes. It was hard for my family of 5 coffee drinkers to use up that card.

We had pizza most days sometimes twice. Sorrento’s is located in the front of the ship right next to the elevators. It was very tasty! They also have small salads and quick desserts there as well.

I will tell you I have been on over 20 cruises. On most cruises I am missing some part of home by day five. But, on this sailing on day five all I could think about was trying to stay on another week. The ship was very nice. The food and service was next to none. We cannot wait until we can go on a Royal Caribbean cruise again.
