Review: Western Caribbean With Carnival

By: Autumn Cruse, Travel Consultant

This trip was nothing short of amazing! I was so happy for the move Carnival made to send a larger ship to Texas, the Carnival Vista, just shy of two years old. From start to finish, it was indeed an honor to be a part of the Western Caribbean With Carnival.

When you arrive on time, you’re on the ship in no time… twenty minutes, tops. Montego Bay, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel was our first cruise ever taken, so this brought back many memories. Same ports, only we took the excursion to Negril, Jamaica which still remains beautiful.

Visiting Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville, along with Rick’s Cafe never disappoints. Our tour guide, Chada, was beyond informative, teaching us in depth history of Jamaica as a whole.

Our driver scared us on a couple of occasions, but of course, we drive on the right side of the street, and they drive on the left. With the excursion being 6 hours, we only shopped in Grand Cayman and Cozumel. It wears you out quickly.

Carnival has truly outdone themselves as far as competition with other affordable cruise lines. From the beautiful décor, technology, and intricate attention to detail, everything is simply stunning.

The food was fulfilling and great. Ji Ji’s Asian Restaurant, and Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse is a force to be reckoned with! There is an additional cost, but is worth it every dime.

The Sky Ride is fun, but I don’t recommend it to those with a fear of heights. The entertainment and our cruise director, Schwartz, truly made it worth being away from home, especially during the holidays. We plan to take this same cruise, Western Caribbean With Carnival, in April to Honduras and Belize. I can’t wait!
