Review: Western Caribbean Cruise with Royal Caribbean

This summer, I took the 7 night Royal Caribbean Western Caribbean cruise with my 7 year old son and my husband. We were so excited to have fun and relax! We were so happy that it started in Galveston, which is just an hour drive from our house.

Embarkation was quick and smooth. The first 2 days were spent exploring the ship, getting to know our dining options and all the fun things to do.  The ship had so many activities to choose from; rock climbing, ice skating, surfing, spas, and of course the pool and slides. The pools and water slides were my son’s favorites!

On the third day of our western Caribbean cruise, we docked at Cozumel, Mexico and enjoyed the sun at Playa Mia Grand Beach & Water Park. There were lots of fun things to do – kayak, swim, play on a water trampoline, pedal a water bicycle and relax on a beach float. My son loved the Buccaneers Bay with a pirate ship, the Twin Twister Waterslides, and the Oasis Island Pool & Hydro Massage tub.

Western Caribbean CruiseThe next day, we were in Grand Cayman.  Disembarkation was surprisingly smooth and organized (as are all tenders). We decided to take a swim with friendly southern stingrays at Stingray City Sandbar. The sandbar located inside of Cayman’s famous Barrier Reef is inhabited by a family of friendly southern stingrays. This was an amazing experience!

Last stop was is Falmouth, Jamaica.  We decided to just relax so we went to Red Stripe Beach – just 10 minutes from the Port. The beach was very nice with white and soft sand and warm and crystal clear waters. We saw people riding horses through the water. We really enjoyed our time here!

Our last days were spent cruising. For me, this was the most relaxing time of our vacation. We wandered around the ship as a family; swimming, eating all the delicious food, enjoying one another’s company. The dining on ship is not just about food, it is about the whole experience. We had the flexibility to eat dinner whenever we wanted, see the shows, and enjoy the fitness center. At night, my husband enjoyed the casinos immensely!

The last day of our western Caribbean cruise, we docked back in Galveston and we all disembarked feeling relaxed and better connected as a family. We will definitely be back!
