Learn More About India Tours

Exotic and spiritual, India is a vast country - from the Himalayas in the north to the coastal south, from humid deltas in the east to deserts in the west. India tours for international visitors typically include overnights in the popular "Golden Triangle": Delhi, Agra and Jaipur.

Delhi, the country's capital, has two parts: New Delhi, which is the seat of government and a modern city with wide tree-lined boulevards, and "Old" Delhi, centuries old and teeming with narrow winding streets, temples, mosques and bazaars. Must-sees in Delhi include Jama Mosque, India's largest mosque, and Quatab Minar, a soaring tower built in the 12th century. Other sightseeing highlights: the Ghandi Memorial Museum and Raj Ghat, where Mahatma Ghandi was cremated.

It is rare for anyone to travel overseas for an India vacation and not visit the phenomenal, majestic Taj Mahal in Agra. This marvelous mausoleum was built by Shah Jahan as a monument of love for his wife who died in childbirth in 1631. Nearby is the Red Fort, another major attraction whose massive red sandstone walls rise more than 60 feet in height.

Jaipur is known as the "Pink City" because of its distinctive sandstone-colored buildings. There are many palaces here, but perhaps the most spectacular is the Palace of the Winds, with more than 950 small windows. Visitors from around the world snap photographs of the intricate lattice-work of the windows and corniced roofs of this lovely palace.

Besides the "Golden Triangle" trilogy of cities, some India tours bring visitors to Varanasi, the holiest of Hindu pilgrim cities. Here devout Hindus meet in the mornings for ritual bathing. One more popular destination in India for international visitors: Udaipur, the "City of Lakes," with its massive granite and marble City Palace, comprised of courtyards, pavilions, terraces, and narrow corridors
