Avalon Waterways’ Legendary Danube itinerary was my first river cruise, and it will not be my last! The entire trip was an excellent adventure and a great value.Continue reading
Adventures in the Wild Northwest with Trafalgar
This Trafalgar itinerary is a wonderful introduction to the rugged coast of the Pacific Northwest. My aunt and I enjoyed this trip in the heart of the summer, at the beginning of July. Still, we were pleased we’d packed jackets and sweaters for the cool coastal breeze and chilly evenings. The weather was wonderfully pleasant, compared to my home in steamy Houston, Texas!Continue reading
Mysteries of the Mayan World with Monograms
My family vacation with Monograms was a wonderful way to introduce my sons—ages 4 and 6—to the fascinating culture of the Mayans in Mexico. Throughout our five day trip, we were enthralled by the archaeological ruins, pleased with our attentive service from our local guides, and happy that so many travel details were pre-arranged by Monograms, which made our vacation hassle-free.
When we arrived to the Cancun airport, our personal tour guide and chauffer greeted us. I immediately felt at ease as I learned that these two very nice gentlemen would be with us for the duration of our vacation. This is the best thing about Monograms itineraries in Central and South America: you are independently escorted throughout your entire trip.Continue reading
Yosemite & Sequoia: John Muir’s California with Tauck
Last summer I had the great fortune to travel to San Francisco, Sequoia National Park, Kings Canyon and Yosemite National Park on an itinerary crafted by Tauck and the great documentary film director, Ken Burns. The tour introduces travelers to the history of the U.S. National Parks, as well as the early battles and current efforts to create, save and expand the National Park system. We walked in the footsteps of naturalist and conservationist John Muir, who helped to preserve large tracts of California wilderness.Continue reading
Review: The Panama Canal & Costa Rica Small Ship Cruising with Tauck
By: Lucy Fernandez, Owner
Small ship cruising with Tauck is a wonderful way to explore the Central American countries of Panama and Costa Rica. We spent time on land – including two nights each in Panama City and San Jose – but most exciting was our six-night voyage aboard the recently renovated m/v Tere Moana. Carrying a maximum of 90 passengers and a crew of 60, the ship sometimes felt as if it felt as if we were on our very own yacht. The crew was extremely attentive, and we loved the elegant ambiance, roomy accommodations and gourmet dining.
