- Day 1AmsterdamSat, Mar 29, 2025
A city of charming canals, elegant gabled houses, splendid museums and abundant bicycles, the Dutch capital of Amsterdam is a delight to explore. Its patchwork of waterways forms about 90 islands connected by 1,500 bridges. The legacy of the Dutch Golden Age lives on in gilded manses and in the lush paintings of Rembrandt and other Dutch masters that adorn the Rijksmuseum, The Netherlands' grand repository of art and cultural history. Discovering Amsterdam is a pleasure best pursued on foot; visitors line the tranquil canals and linger over Dutch pancakes, or take a stroopwafel to go.

- Day 3EnkhuizenMon, Mar 31, 2025
Originally a small fishing village, Enkhuizen grew into a prosperous harbor before joining the Hanseatic League. During the 17th century, the city flourished as a center of maritime trade and shipbuilding. The silting up of the Zuiderzee at the end of the century ended this golden era; the sea eventually became an inland lake, cut off from the North Sea, with the completion of a dike in 1932. The era's wealth and prosperity remain evident in several impressive landmarks, including the Drommedaris, a former city gate and watchtower, and the striking Gothic-style Zuiderkerk.
- Day 4NijmegenTue, Apr 01, 2025
Perched on the south bank of the Waal River, vibrant Nijmegen is home to one of The Netherlands' largest universities. Residents and students alike linger at sidewalk cafés and unique eateries and the city's many shops offer items that reflect Nijmegen's artistic sensibility. Nijmegen's lower city is home to the charming Velorama, a bicycle museum, while the larger Valkhof Museum chronicles the city's Roman and medieval past. Famously, Nijmegen was the site of a decisive three-day battle between Allied and German forces during World War II's Operation Market Garden.
- Day 5KinderdijkWed, Apr 02, 2025
Kinderdijk is a village community in the Alblasserwaard province. This corner of South Holland, part of the scenic Waal and Merwede regions, has long been shaped by Rhine Delta waters. Kinderdijk is most known for its 19 remarkably preserved 18th-century windmills. The charming hamlet is located amid low-lying polders, tracts of land reclaimed from the sea by the power of the windmills and enclosed by embankments, or dikes. This legendary place calls to mind the 1865 novel Hans Brinker, in which a heroic boy plugs his finger into a ruptured dike.
- Day 6AntwerpThu, Apr 03, 2025
A cosmopolitan city, Antwerp is one of the world's major seaports. Its unique atmosphere comes from the contrasts between old and new, commerce and art. The Old Town and the expansive Grote Markt are filled with narrow, winding streets and medieval guild houses. The Gothic Cathedral of Our Lady, Belgium's largest church, contains works by 17th-century painter Peter Paul Rubens; he lived in the city and is entombed in the Church of St. James. Antwerp is also renowned for diamonds and chocolate. Many diamond cutters can be found here alongside countless confectioners.
- Day 7MiddelburgFri, Apr 04, 2025
The capital of Zeeland, Middelburg's historical significance can be seen in its well-preserved medieval buildings. The magnificent 15th-century Gothic-style Town Hall stands as a testament to Middelburg's past grandeur. The soaring abbey tower of Lange Jan offers panoramic views of the city, while the 800-year-old abbey complex showcases striking architecture. The city hosts various cultural events throughout the year, including the annual Middelburg Jazz Festival and the Mosselfeesten (Mussel Festival), where guests can enjoy a variety of Zeeland's delicious delicacy.
- Day 8ZeelandSat, Apr 05, 2025
The tranquil region of Zeeland is a fascinating blend of natural and human-made landscapes. Here, large swaths of land have been shaped by the tendrils of the delta where the Rhine, Meuse and Scheldt Rivers make their final sprint to the sea. Much of this land lies below sea level, protected from the tides of the North Sea by the vast Delta Works project and by the work of the classic windmills that grace the landscape. A number of islands dot this serene coastal region too. This archipelago of sorts gives this province its name: Zeeland, which means “sea land.” From September through April, restaurants in Zeeland offer oysters, farmed fresh from local waters. They are delicious served with a squeeze of lemon and paired with a crisp glass of wine.

Questions & Answers Ask A Question
Question: Will the day-by-day itinerary change?
Question: In what language is the river cruise conducted?
Affordable Tours were very helpful. The only issue is we were not aware the ship could only sail at night on the Douro River. Viking did not mention this, nor was it in their literature. We only found out once the trip stated. Consequently, we spent a lot of time on buses and did not have much time at any of the ports due to leaving early in the day to sail to our next stop.
The trip was great and exceeded expectations.
Viking was amazing, as always!
Absolutely amazing trip
It was a great trip
Nice trip included excursions a busy trip. Do not recommend doing two excursions in one day
The river cruises are somewhat slower paced than the land tours, but enjoyable just the same.
This was our second River cruise with Viking and several excursions were disappointing.
We have now completed 4 River boat or ocean cruises with Viking and they never disappoint. Many other operators offer similar packages, but they do not include the land excursions lead by local experts. My only disappointment on the Amsterdam to Bruges cruise (Bruges was a well worth it add on) is that I opted for a French balcony to save about $100 a day as I did not think I would have too much of an opportunity to utilize it. I did not realize that because we did not have a full balcony, the size of the room changed from 205 ft^2 down to @135 ft^2 . Room was still lovely, just a bit too cramped for 2 spry seniors. This was totally my error and taught me another valuable lesson.
Viking is a class act! We enjoyed every tour, the riverboat itself, and especially our suit. The entire team was very well organized and professional, and most of all fun! The trip was relaxing, interesting, and we met a lot of new friends!
Viking Mississippi very disappointed there were no swimming pool, just infinity plunger pool and no casino due small ship very good food served. Thrilled to meet Steve Azar, famous music like Elvis Presley.
Viking offers a quality trip, loved it!
Viking is always are go to company and also using Affordable Tour. Viking goes above and beyond on their services and making sure everything goes as smooth as possible. Our ship was changed to the Viking Hemming and it even had a pool.
Wished we could have experienced a stay at the Peabody hotel in Memphis. Was told this was not possible. Was not true. Needed more time at Graceland. All other aspects were great!
Our flight from Frankfort to London was delayed, placing our connection in jeopardy. We contacted Viking and their response was amazing. They booked us on a later flight in case we missed our connection. When we arrived in London, we were greeted by a Viking rep along with a member of airport security. They expedited our travel through the airport, including a cart for all of us. We managed to make it before boarding was complete. We definitely would not have made that connection without Viking help.
