Tour Itinerary

“Wherefore art thou, Romeo?” Who can resist uttering these words in medieval Verona, the romantic setting for Shakespeare’s tragic love story? But thoughts will soon turn from romance to Roman ruins, medieval towns, floating cities, and gastronomic delights. All of these treasures and more are right here on this sparkling tour of Italy. Filled with the country’s famous jewels and hidden gems, this dazzling tour leads you from Rome to Venice and back again, with time in the sultry Italian Riviera, vineyard-dotted Tuscany, and picturesque Umbria, Tuscany’s “gentler sister.” Savor a boat ride along the dramatic Cinque Terre coastline with its pastel-hued fishing villages, stroll through the serene streets of Assisi, and sip Chianti in a Tuscan cantina. Michelangelo’s David, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, and the perfectly preserved medieval town of San Gimignano are more reasons this tour of Italy truly shines.

Hear how in 1508, a young Michelangelo was commissioned by Pope Julius II to decorate the chapel’s ceiling – a request not welcomed by the 33-year-old sculptor. Michelangelo’s 4-year project was indeed one of physical pain and psychological distress, while painting from scaffolds high above the sanctuary floor. Nevertheless, he created what is considered the most famous ceiling in the world, depicting the Creation of Adam in striking fresco style.

I was very pleased with the quality of the bus transportation, the bus driver, the main tour guide, and all of the excursions provided with my tour. The only negative was that some of the rooms were very small and basic, and some of the beds and pillows were not very comfortable. Other than that, I was very happy with my very first bus tour! I especially appreciated the front-of-line access to some of the most amazing artifacts in the world! Also, I should mention that the "Whisper" devices provided worked excellent, which was not the case on some tours I had with my cruise line excursions, which is a very important aspect of learning about the area being explored. Also, Linh was always so kind and informative about any questions or concerns that I had. I would definitely book with her again!

The trip was great! Of course, that the weather was nice really helped. We always enjoy Globus tours because the tour directors and bus drivers are terrific! There were a few hiccups with some of the hotels, but our tour operator did her best to resolve any issues.

The tour director and bus driver made the trip extremely enjoyable.

It was a fast paced trip that an older person or one with physical limitations/needs might have more difficulty enduring. The cities visited were beautiful and we enjoyed ourselves very much. Wished we had more free time to explore some of the cities in greater detail. Arriving late in the day & leaving so very early, a lot of the businesses we would've liked to see were closed.

Hard to understand the local guides,(Rome especially) English was not adequate. The walk from tour bus to attractions was to far. In Assisi globus should provide shuttle to hotel. Walk was to far and to steep bringing our own luggage. Optional Excursions: The Tuscan and Florentine dinners were excellent, Roman Highlights, Gondola just ok.

I understand hotels are not guaranteed but was annoying and stressful that pre-night was moved to another hotel. No complaints about quality of accommodations- your basic 3-4 star. This was our 5th Globus trip and overall this was an awesome trip. Spread the road that this trip involved lots more walking than people anticipated - it was not a big problem for us personally and thankfully we did not have any mobility restricted people among the other 42 - though a few ( younger than us) were challenged to the max. There was not near enough free time to shop or explore as we opted to do all the optional tours. The Tour Director - Alessandro was very good and the group very cooperative with posted daily seat assignments. But tell Globus no one should have to sit in the back row of the bus- it is worse than being on an airplane- the back of the chair is right in your face. Luckily we drew the straw on a short travel day.

Our tour coordinator Sylvanna was excellent. Our bus driver Bruce was also very accomodating. Our group was a good size & all were good travel companions. The trip was well planned. Our only comment is to advise the amount of walking & stairs required. Choice of activities & restaurants was very good. Looking forward to our next trip. Ellie was very good in coordinating our trip needs & very responsive to our questions & requests.

Globus and Affordable tours met our expectations and then some. We could not have asked for a better tour and trip.

The Globus team did a great job with the tour. The hotels were well positioned and rooms were spacious and typically provided for a good view. Venice location was right at San Marco and Rome was just 2 blocks from the Vatican, allowing for evening and morning access. We have travelled quite a bit and this was our first bus tour and we would rate this now as our top tour vacation. The Globus staff (team) on the ground with us were very professional and worked diligently to meet the needs of the individuals and the group as a whole. Highly recommend as the tour guides were very knowledgable and what a great way to see the country and experience and learn Italy.

The Globus Italian Treasures tour is an excellent overview of Italy. The pace is quick but the time is spend very efficiently.

The trip was wonderful. However we did not understand how much walking was involved. It would have been helpful in making our decision on the tour if we knew how much walking was involved.

This was my first trip to Italy/Europe and the decision to book a tour (specifically Globus) was the best decision! Our Tour Director Lino was outstanding! We learned a lot about the history, he was very professional and had a good sense of humor which we all appreciated. Our Coach Driver Stefano was phenomenal! I always worry about the drivers of these large vehicles, however with Stefano I felt extremely safe & comfortable as he was an excellent driver! I would absolutely recommend these tours to others and will book another tour...but only with Lino and Stefano :)

This is our 5th Globus tour and it was one of the best. Our Tour Director, Giampiero was the nicest and most engaging director we have ever had we have taking 14 tours total.

Tour guide was superb, and his intererst and knowledge truly improved the journey. Two night stays were well timed. All but one hotel was centered in the area of interest, making individual exploring very accessible.

Loved our trip! Our itinerary was perfect. Our Tour director was fabulous! We will book with Affordable Tours and Globus again!

This was a great trip. There was too much food at the dinners, though.

Some of the hotels were disappointing. We understand many of the hotels were in ancient cities. We did not expect luxury. We expected small European rooms. We found the plumbing very slow. Slow draining showers which flooded the bathroom and in one case, just plain not draining. Had to use the shower in another room. Also, the hotel in Venice is affected by the 2pm daily flood. I would not return to that hotel or Venice.

It was a great trip and well-organized. Tour Director was the best I ever had. Would recommend this tour.

Globus needs to be transparent about ALL hotels used in tour. The last Rome hotel is NOT mentioned anywhere in Globus marketing brochure. This terrible Rome Pisana hotel is poor in both quality and location. It is used for post-tour extension but customers were not told about that until travel documents were sent out. I had to go through hoops to cancel the 2-day post-tour extension, which was an unpleasant experience before the tour was even started. The last-minute change of the Assisi hotel was also a disappointment. The originally listed Giotto Hotel is steps from the basilica and has glorious view from its terrace. I had planned for an after-dinner walk in the Assisi old town. The replacement hotel was miles from town and I would have needed to take a taxi to get there so I gave up the idea. The Giotto was 110 euros a night, the replacement hotel was only 65 euros. This is the only good thing (for Globus) about the switch.

Our Globus Italian Treasures Tour was amazing! We had the VERY BEST tour guide! She was very informative, organized, fun, and caring! The only negative about our trip was our arrival in Rome. After we collected our baggage, there was very poor information on how to find a Globus representative!

The last day of the tour we stayed at the Holiday Inn in Rome. It was dissappointing as the hotel was old and in comparison to the other hotels on this tour, the hotel was not up to par.

This is my 10th Globus Tour and this company is consistent with the quality of the tour guides, drivers, hotel accommodations and delivering the tour itinerary as described. It remains a great value for the price.

We were very pleased with the trip from time of booking to it's very end.... amazing experience!! Professional staff all around - and very caring!!!

The trip and itinerary helped me to see and experience a large part of Italy.

I came home exhausted and satisfied. Our tour director  was superb and our local guides excellent to great. I accomplished all that I hoped for on this trip, got a feel for the Tuscan area, visited places I specifically wanted to see, Thank you for your role in facilitating my trip.

The guide was excellent. I would love to take a trip with her leading me again. Very much worth the money for the information and the places seen. While it would have been great to spend more time in some places, I understand that there is a schedule to keep.

We had a great trip - far exceeeding expectations

I was extremely happy with my vacation to Italy. The tour director was very knowledgable about Italian history and made the visits to each of the cities on the tour very enjoyable. The bus driver for Globus was great, too.

Was a great experience and I am so happy to complete this suvivey

I was extremely pleased with all aspects of the tour.

We had a great time in Northern Italy and got to see a lot more than we would have had we planed our own trip. Not having to deal with luggage was a great perk. The tours exceded our expectations. The tour guide in Rome was superb.

This was a GLOBUS tour. Quality of hotels varied widely. Rooms were so small for 2 people it was hard to put stuff down in the bathroom. Most hotels were at a distance from the center of the city making independent exploration difficult. Tour tried to do to much each day; if you took the additional side tours it felt like you were on a forced march, yet we were cautioned that we would never get in without their reservations. Name tags did not survive 1 day making it hard to get acquainted with fellow tour members.

We had a great time. Globus did a great job!

The trip was really good and the service of AffordableTours.com was wonderful and the best price I had so far.
