Day 1
London Tour | Tower of LondonYour tour departs from your hotel at 2:00 PM. Head out on a panoramic tour of London, taking in the sights of this magnificent city: Big Ben, Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly Circus, and so much more. Visit the Tower of London, once a royal residence and an infamous prison. See the Crown Jewels, the guardian Beefeaters with their Tudor-era regalia, and the ravens that tradition says protect the Crown and the Tower. Share a welcome drink with your group at your hotel, and then your evening is free to dine independently.

Day 2
Stonehenge | Windsor CastleTravel to Stonehenge to view one of England’s most mysterious landmarks. Created between 3000 BC and 2000 BC, these massive stone monoliths each stand 13 feet high, seven feet wide, and weigh approximately 25 tons. Depart for Windsor and enjoy a panoramic tour of this charming town on the River Thames. Visit Windsor Castle, the official residence of the King. Built in the 11th century, it is the longest-occupied palace in Europe. Marvel at its architecture, sumptuously appointed apartments, and extensive art collection. Head back to London, where you’ll have a free evening to explore the city as you wish. (B)

Day 3
Greenwich Sightseeing | CruiseDiscover Greenwich, a scenic riverside borough of London, on a panoramic tour followed by free time for independent exploration. Greenwich is famed for its important role in maritime history and the Greenwich Meridian, which gives Greenwich Mean Time its name. The Cutty Sark, an old tea clipper ship, and the National Maritime Museum are in the area, along with cafes and a historic market. Next, take a scenic cruise on the River Thames to Westminster; glide past London landmarks like Canary Wharf, Tower Bridge, and the London Eye. The rest of the day is yours to spend as you wish: sightsee, shop, or even take a trip to the theatre. (B)

Oxford | Stratford-upon-AvonExplore Oxford on a guided walking tour with your tour director, discovering this city and the famed university, founded in the 12th century. Next, drive through the rolling hills of the Cotswolds, past the charming thatched-roof cottages and English gardens nestled along the route, as you head to Stratford-upon-Avon. Enjoy some free time for lunch before visiting Shakespeare’s Birthplace, a museum exploring The Bard’s early years and life in the 16th century. Return to London, where you are free to explore as you wish for the evening. (B)

Canterbury Cathedral | Leeds CastleVisit Canterbury Cathedral, one of the oldest and most important Christian structures in England, famed for its beauty as well as its historic and literary importance. Journey on to Leeds Castle in Kent, once owned by an Anglo-American heiress, who transformed the Castle into one of the most desirable country houses of the 20th century. We had a wonderful trip. We were very pleased with the itinerary and the quality of hotels provided through CIE. We would recommend CIE again.

We had a lovely tour throughout Ireland. The service and accommodation exceeded my expectations! We were fortunate to have good weather. Ireland is very beautiful and the people are gracious to all tourist!
CIE is a solid company who provide friendly, strong tours. Affordable Tours was a excellent company to book through. Having both companies working together to support us outside the tour then during the tour was helpful. We had a very bad situation happen at one of the hotels when the hotel baggage people misplaced our luggage into an empty room thus we did not get our luggage. The CIE director had the hotel staff search every room until the misplaced luggage was found. This piece of luggage had all my wife's clothes and very valuable things locked in it. If not for the tour director this in issue could have been quite miserable for us. The hotel was not taking us seriously until she stepped in and resolved the problem. She was a strong tour director which helped the tour run smoothly.
Good starter tour for someone new to the UK. Use of a Hop on Off in London let's people see more of what interests them. Dinner at the hotel in Bath was excellent.
The trip was wonderful. This is our second CIE tour and totally enjoyed both and highly recommend.

I expected more hands on guidance in the choice of pubs, more going as a group. However I liked very much our driver/guide, Matt Nolan. His manner was very pleasant, his introductions to the areas we visited and history talks were just enough, and he was skilled driver on the narrow roads. Time on the bus was calm and quiet which seemed to suit us. He managed all the travel details professionally.
