DAY 1, Wednesday - Depart for CanadaArrive in Edmonton, the capital of Canada's Alberta Province and transfer independently to your hotel. The rest of the day is free to explore

DAY 2, Thursday - Depart for Jasper
Depart Edmonton, and travel along the picturesque roads to Jasper, an alpine community with views of the Rocky Mountains. Spend leisure time in the downtown Jasper area before a drive to the Pyramid Lakes area of Jasper National Park to see Pyramid Mountain. Tonight, savor dinner together

DAY 3, Friday - Jasper National Park, Spirit Island Cruise, Maligne Canyon
Drive to Jasper National Park, known for its abundant wildlife and arrive at Maligne Lake, nestled in a ring of towering mountains. Here, board a boat* to Spirit Island, the iconic crown jewel of Jasper National Park. At pine tree covered Spirit Island, a chance to take photos before returning to shore. Then, on to Maligne Canyon to learn about the unique features of this underground water system. Time to walk along the canyon's trails, before returning to Jasper for an afternoon at leisure, or, participate in the optional Athabasca River Raft Trip that retraces the route of the early explorers along the Athabasca River*Cruise is seasonal and due to local weather conditions may be unable to operate at the beginning of the season (Apr - early Jun).

DAY 4, Saturday - Athabasca Falls, Glacier Skywalk & Adventure, Lake Louise
Travel on the Icefields Parkway, to Athabasca Falls flowing from the Columbia Icefields. Continue to the Columbia Icefield Discovery Center for lunch on your own, with time to view informative exhibits about glaciers and the geological features of this area. Afterwards, walk on the cliff-edge Glacier Skywalk viewing panoramas from a clear glass platform nearly 900 feet high. Next, take an excursion on the Ice Explorer onto the surface of the Athabasca Glacier. Stop along the glacier and walk on the ice. Continue on to Lake Louise located in historic Banff National Park. Evening is at leisure

DAY 5, Sunday - Moraine Lake, Lake Louise, Travel to Banff
Travel to Moraine Lake with its indigo blue waters surrounded by the Valley of the Ten Peaks. Proceed to crystal-clear Lake Louise and Yoho National Park, named after a Cree word meaning "wonder and awe". Marvel at the Natural Bridge, an impressive natural rock formation gradually carved out over time by the Kicking Horse River. Proceed to Spiral Tunnels viewpoint, where you witness an engineering ingenuity firsthand. Learn about the construction of the railway tunnels on the historic Canadian Pacific Railway Line. After time at leisure, continue to the town of Banff in the heart of Banff National Park

DAY 6, Monday - Banff National Park, Cave & Basin National Historic Site
Soar to the top of Sulphur Mountain via gondola and enjoy bird's-eye views of six mountain ranges. Next, visit Banff National Park, nestled in the heart of the Canadian Rockies. Continue along the shores of Two Jack Lake and Lake Minnewanka, "Water of the Spirits", a glacial lake in the eastern area of Banff where First Nations people inhabited the area around 10,000 years ago. This afternoon, visit the Cave & Basin National Historic Site, the geographical birthplace of Canada's National Park System. Spend time exploring the naturally-occurring, warm mineral springs that can be found inside the cave, and outside in an emerald colored basin. Spend leisure time to wander along the main streets

DAY 7, Tuesday - Travel to Calgary
This morning, head to Calgary. After lunch on your own, visit Fort Calgary to gain insight into the history of the city, the Mounties and the relationship with the First Nations. At dinner tonight, bid farewell to your Tour Manager and Western Canada

The Gate 1 Discovery tours are very good and well worth the extra cost. We had only 16 participants on the trip and everyone got along well. They used the large bus and everyone had their own seat if they wanted it. The hotels on trip were above average.
Great trip for those that want to visit Normandie and the Mediterranean Coast of France. Plenty of time for lunches and shopping at most stops. Nice to have two nights at each stop.
