Question: Can you arrange flights from usa?
Question: How many suitcases can I take with me on my trip?
Question: Is Airfare Included in the Price?
This package was really what I expected. Trafalgar gives the best experience for customers
The itinerary was ambitious 5 countries in 8 days (looks like 10 but you can't count arrival & departure) but exactly what we wanted, an overview. Trafalgar guide was excellent provided much historic info & thoughtful traditional treats along the way.
The tour travel director was very experienced and gave us constant information on the history of the cities we visited. A fine balance between included and optional experiences. I wish the tour company had provided us with transfer vouchers regardless of our coming early or leaving later than the tour's beginning and its end.
Cant really blame Affordable Tours but the lodging several nights was not up to previous standards with Trafalgar. Also, the optional tour to Sterling Castle in Belfast was not as advertised; we walked up to the Castle at night, couldn't get in or really see anything, show was not understandable, so it was a waste of money! Not really much in Waterford, took the optional tour, and it was ok by me, my wife thought it was great. I didn't think it was work what we paid for it. Otherwise, it was a very good trip.
In general, Trafalgar did a good job with the tour. Some of the hotels were sub-par but doable for one night. The food at the winery was terrible. I would book another tour with this company.
Hotel rooms, although adequate, were inferior to those we had in Eastern Europe on two previous Trafalgar tours. Best of Britain and Ireland rooms were small, lacked radios/clocks, doors that would not open a safe that was so low in a closet you had to lay on the floor to use the number pad (I could do it, but some on this trip could not). Trafalgar did not want to honor a return transfer to Heathrow Airport even though we purchased airfares through them. Issue had to do with the fact we were continuing on rather than returning. Your website states the transfer is authorised and doesn't exclude those not returning.
The optional tours and some places in the itinerary of this Trafalgar trip are throw away. The more important places were not given enough time to be explored. Liverpool should have been part of it and perhaps have an option for Beatles fans to do some sight seeing
Trafalgar USA marketing material counts the day of our departure from the US as Day 1. Thus, next day on arrival at the hotel we are already on Day 2. But we were told to wait until 2pm, the check-in time. It was a day wasted. We did have facility to store our luggage, but we could have enjoyed the day only after freshening, changing and leaving our luggage securely. Trafalgar should negotiate early check-ins for USA/Canada based clients. Similarly on return from tour back to London hotel, our tour director told us "you are now on your own to haul your luggage to/from the hotel room". Last day of the tour is on the day we leave hotel after breakfast. Thus asking us to manage our luggage while tour is still continuing didn't appear professional.
We were switched to Thistle Marble Arch for first night. The room was OK but very small. Not what we expected for a first class hotel. The breakfast was terrible. Only rolls, juice and coffee and not enough for everyone. Everyone was complaining. We also had problems with two of the hotels about the third bed. Both times it was a roll away, springs were broken and too small. Our terrific tour director took care of the first hotel and had them bring us a new bed. The second time after the tour ended, we were at the beautiful Park Plaza Riverbank. The air conditioning did not work in our room and the third bed was horrible, but they upgraded us the next night to a beautiful suite. Final comment: Our tour director was fabulous and all in all the trip was wonderful.
