DAY 2, Monday - Arrive in Athens
Arrive in Athens, the classical capital of Greece; transfer to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure to discover the ancient wonders of this city known as the cradle of Western Civilization and the birthplace of democracy. Your tour will begin with an orientation meeting with your Tour Manager, at approximately 7 PM, followed by a light dinner. We recommend that you select flights which arrive no later than 5 PM

DAY 3, Tuesday - Athens City Tour
The exploration of Athens begins with a panoramic drive through the city center. View the Panathenian Stadium, the ruins of the Temple of Zeus and Hadrian's Arch, built to celebrate the arrival of the Roman Emperor Hadrian. Continue on to visit the Acropolis, the ancient architectural masterpiece built during the Golden Age of Athens and the new Acropolis Museum, a striking modern building built at the base of the monument where many of the original statues from the Acropolis are now displayed. The rest of the day is at leisure. Be sure to walk to Constitution Square, where you might catch a glimpse of the colorfully-costumed Evzone guards, outfitted in the traditional Greek style. Tonight, perhaps walk through the lively Plaka area, the oldest section of Athens, a neighborhood of charming restaurants, shops and sidewalk cafes

DAY 4, Wednesday - Sightseeing en route to Olympia
Depart Athens via the scenic coastal road to the mighty Corinth Canal, dividing the Peloponnese from mainland Greece. Continue via Nauplion to Mycenae, the heartland of Greek mythology. Visit the Acropolis of Mycenae and the Tomb of Atreus, built around 1250 B.C. From here, drive through the Central Peloponnese Peninsula, whose major cities in classical times were Corinth and Sparta. Continue to Olympia, birthplace of the first Olympic Games

DAY 5, Thursday - Tour Olympia Archaeological Site
Morning visit to the archaeological site of Olympia, including the Sanctuary of Olympian Zeus, and the ancient stadium where the Olympic Games were first held in 776 B.C. Visit a local store, where you will have a chance to taste local olive oil and spices. Continue to Olympia's Archaeological Museum containing significant exhibitions of the ancient world and artwork dating back thousands of years. Then, drive north through the plains of Eliad and Achaia, crossing the Corinth Strait via a cabled bridge from Rion to Antirion. Pass the town of Nafpaktos en route to Delphi, home of the ruins of the Tholos Temple

DAY 6, Friday - Archaeological Tour of Delphi, Travel to Kalambaka
Tour the excavated site of Delphi and the archaeological museum, perched on the slopes of Mount Parnassos, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Considered one of the most significant places in Greek history, its stunning setting and ancient ruins are truly inspirational. Walk the Sacred Way to the imposing 4th century B.C. Temple of Apollo, site of the most important oracle in the classical world. Next, stop at the Thermopylae Battlefield and pay your respects at the memorial dedicated to King Leonidas and the 300 Spartans. Continue to the small town of Kalambaka, situated amidst smooth sandstone cliffs in the foothills of Meteora

DAY 7, Saturday - Meteora Sightseeing, Return to Athens
Visit Meteora, meaning "suspended in the air", with its mystical Eastern Orthodox monasteries incredibly nestled perilously close to the edge of bizarre rock formations. Admire the exquisite specimens of Byzantine art and the panoramic vistas over the Peneios Valley. Stop at a workshop of Byzantine icons and souvenirs. Browse the store's vast collection of icons, created using old traditional methods. Afterward, a scenic drive takes you along the coast, past Thermopylae. Arrive in Athens in early evening

DAY 8, Sunday - Flight to Heraklion
Today, transfer to the airport for your flight to Heraklion, Crete. Upon arrival, embark on a guided walking tour of Heraklion and discover its charm and cultural roots. Conclude the tour with Greek coffee and "bougasta." In the afternoon, visit the Heraklion Archaeological Museum with its over 15,000 artifacts from Minoan, Neolithic and Roman times. Spend time at leisure before dinner at the hotel

DAY 9, Monday - Knossos Tour, Winery Visit
After breakfast, visit the ruins of the great Palace of Knossos, ceremonial and political center of the ancient Minoan civilization and residence of the mythical King Minos. Explore the palace ruins, including the Throne Room, the fresco of the "Prince of the Lilies", and the Queen's Megaron in the east. Later, visit a Cretan winery and enjoy a wine tasting. After lunch in Archanes, spend the rest of the day at leisure. Tonight, savor dinner at a typical Cretan taverna with live music & dance

DAY 10, Tuesday - Spinalonga, Elounda, Agios Nikolaos
Begin the day with a boat ride to the island of Spinalonga, with its 16th century Venetian fortress. Tour the island with its remains of a leper colony. Afterward, head to Elounda, a former fishing village, located at the Gulf of Mirabello for lunch and exploration. In the afternoon, travel to Agios Nikolaos. View Lake Voulismeni and take a walking tour of the town, before returning to Heraklion

DAY 11, Wednesday - Ferry to Santorini
Today, transfer to the port for your ferry to Santorini. Arrive in the beautiful island with its snow-white architecture, and multicolored cliffs. Take a walking tour of Fira, the capital of Santorini. In the afternoon, visit the town of Pyrgos; the former capitol of Santorini and the best preserved Medieval settlement on the island. Explore the world of Therian volcanic wines during a visit to a winery. Hear about the production process, and follow up with wine tastings along with dinner of local specialties

DAY 12, Thursday - Morning Tour of Santorini
Today, explore this Greek paradise. Board the bus and drive to Megalochori, one of the most traditional villages on the island. Stroll through the narrow streets and admire the traditional architecture. Later, head to the archaeological excavation site of ancient Akrotiri, a former Bronze Age settlement located on the south west of the island. Tour the ancient city that was frozen in time after a volcanic eruption 3,600 years ago. Savor lunch of local specialties before returning to your hotel. Gate1 exceeded my expectations with this trip. Our guide Carmine was very knowledgeable, kind and patient with our group. He was there every step of the way for all of our historical or present day questions. He is a valuable asset to your company as he made our trip what it was with his funny commentary to the fun little gifts he gave out. Our local guides were very informative and passionate about their topics of discussion. From the hotel rooms, to the tours and travel, every detail was perfectly planned and executed.
Wonderful experience in every way. Tour guide (Eva) was exceptional. Knowledgeable about history, mythology, art, architecture and culture. She was engaging, efficient, and fun to be around. Hotels were first rate, meals were consistently good, and the weather in Greece in November was perfect. Well beyond our expectations.
There were at least 2 hotels with marginal to low accomodations. Apollonia Hotel - I understand is a family run business utilizing services of family members but can do better if not best! Shower - bath tub with uneven floor is a safety risk, no mats provided, shower knob non functional - water won’t come out at the upper spout. No cups provided in the bathroom for use. Bed hard & uncomfortable; Accessories (shampoo/ conditioner) plastic bottles half-filled. Breakfast - non appealing (coffee are instant ones) dinner was ok & personally served in portions so wastes are controlled.
The tour guide was great and the accommodations were superb! The guides assistant was a nice touch in Cusco and Machu Picchu.
Our guide and driver are both exceptional. I will definitely go on another trip knowing you have such high quality staff.
The weather condition in Amazon was too hot with no rooms or any places having air conditioning. Also, the elevations from sea level in Cusco was on the border of dangerous which Gate1 must put a big warning on this particular tour.
Phi was the best tour guide I have had with Gate 1. He should be acknowledged for tour manager of the year.
Our Gate 1 trip to South Africa was very good. Our guide John Finch was very informative and he ran the trip very smoothly.
Everything was as advertised. We enjoyed the trip thoroughly. One complaint: At the farewell dinner the band and the management passed around a tip basket. This didn't sit well with me because I understand that "all" tour gratuities are supposed to be included.
Mr.Aziz our tour manager is excellent knowledgeable and helpful to every concern by the tour members. Couldn't have asked for any better tour manager than him. The trip is worth every penny and more than I expected. Keep up the best quality people.

Great trip
The tour guide was very informative and helpful. The only issue was that not all of the hotels is we stayed at had English speaking news channels. Only the last hotel in Barcelona had CNN, BBC, and NBC. The rest of the hotels did not have an English speaking newschannel. Thank you.
