DAY 3, Tuesday - Arrive in Christchurch
Welcome to New Zealand! Arrive in Christchurch, in the South Island. The city is often referred to as the most English of New Zealand's cities. Arrive and check into your hotel. In the afternoon, take a walking tour through central Christchurch. Witness the blend of heritage buildings and modern architecture in this revitalised city with its passageways, and attractive open spaces. Meander through the Riverside Market, an enclosed haven that brings together the essence of a fresh farmers' market and lively boutique shopping. Then, take a leisurely stroll through the Botanic Gardens and the neighboring Hagley Park. This evening, attend an orientation meeting with your Tour Manager at approximately 5 PM, followed by dinner. We recommend you select flights which arrive no later than 3 PM

DAY 4, Wednesday - Akaroa
During breakfast, listen to a local expert discuss Predator Free New Zealand 2050. This mission, supported by central government, primary industries, NGOs, and tangata whenua (people of the land - Maori) will enable native species to thrive. Later, travel to Akaroa, Canterbury's oldest town, founded in 1840 by French settlers. The town features historic buildings and a distinct French charm. Before lunch, hike to the summit of Stony Bay Peak, offering splendid panoramic views of Akaroa, the Pacific Ocean, and the distant Southern Alps. On the way back to Christchurch, stop at a cheese factory to sample some fine local cheese. Tonight, immerse yourself in the city's lively atmosphere and choose from a myriad of delightful restaurants

DAY 5, Thursday - Lake Tekapo, Aoraki Mt. Cook
Drive south across the Canterbury Plains before entering the awe-inspiring landscape of the Mackenzie Country, reminiscent of Patagonia. At Lake Tekapo, visit the picturesque Church of the Good Shepherd. Set on the shores of Lake Tekapo, this iconic church occupies a breathtaking setting. Continue hiking up Mt. John, the site of a significant night sky observatory. As you ascend, be prepared to be amazed by the expansive vistas of the glistening lake and the majestic Southern Alps. Afterward, continue the drive, making your way toward Aoraki Mt. Cook

DAY 6, Friday - Hooker Valley, Aoraki Mt. Cook
Today, hike on the Hooker Valley trail and admire the glacial features of the captivating valley. The path consists of flat wooden boardwalks, gravel paths and few mild inclines. Be awestricken by the icefalls on the Southern Alps' highest peaks, and at the end of the hike, view the stunning terminal lake of the Hooker Glacier with its striking backdrop of Aoraki Mt. Cook. In the afternoon, stop at the world-class Aoraki Mt. Cook Visitor Center to explore the fascinating exhibits. Gain insight into the region's unique natural wonders and mountaineering history

DAY 7, Saturday - Tasman Glacier, Vineyard Visit

Next, head towards Wanaka. En route, stop at a family-run vineyard nestled along the banks of the Clutha River. Here, indulge in a wine tasting experience while learning about sustainable winemaking practices unique to this region. Afterward, have a delightful picnic lunch amidst the native forest, planted by the vineyard owners on the riverbank. In mid-afternoon, upon reaching the lakeside township of Wanaka, set out on an invigorating hike up Mt. Iron. As you ascend, you'll be rewarded with panoramic views

Hike towards the island's highest point, revealing a lake within an island within a lake, all formed during the last ice age. From your vantage point, marvel at this unique scenery. Experience a close encounter with the rare and inquisitive buff weka, a bird species that has been extinct from the mainland for a century. In the afternoon, drive along the shores of Lake Wanaka, on your way towards the majestic peaks of Mount Aspiring National Park. Your hike is in the lower Matukituki Valley, where you traverse the Diamond Lake trail before ascending onto Rocky Mountain. The adventure starts at The Divide, where you'll be surrounded by dense rainforest, with vibrant and diverse flora endemic to the area. As you ascend, the landscape transforms, revealing alpine meadows and panoramic views of the awe-inspiring Darran Mountains. Following the hike, continue towards the enchanting Milford Sound. Board a cruise boat and be captivated by the striking beauty that unfolds before you. Learn about the conservation efforts made to protect these birds, and attain a deeper understanding of the importance of preserving their habitats. Next, drive towards Lake Wakatipu and Queenstown. Experience southern hospitality during a visit to a working sheep and beef farm. Observe first-hand the daily operations of the farm, and gain insight into the rich farming traditions of New Zealand. Afterward, savor a homestead family-style lunch. Upon arrival in Queenstown, join your guide for an orientation walk along the picturesque Steamer Wharf and waterfront, viewing some of the iconic landmarks. DAY 12, Thursday - Glenorchy
Embark on a spectacular drive along the shores of Lake Wakatipu to the beautiful outpost of Glenorchy, surrounded by snow-capped peaks and lush forests. Continue on to the northern end of the Routeburn Track and hike towards the Routeburn Flats Hut. Swing bridge crossings add a sense of adventure as you follow the enchanting Routeburn River. As you make your way through this untouched wilderness, you will be enthralled by the pristine beech forests and cascading waterfalls that surround you. Following the hike, return to Queenstown.
